The first thing visitors usually notice is the wrong address. If you knock on the door of the building the address of which is visible in property's description (15 M. Alexandrou str & El. Venizelou, Kos Town, 85300, Greece) you're going to be informed that this is not a hotel but a private house. And that the hotel is... behind the corner. The inhabitants have been trying to persuade the owner of Studio Desiree to change the address displayed on the internet for a long time. To this day in vain.

In Studio Desiree itself you, unfortunately, meet the owner. Or the property's keeper. Not sure who she is. Anyway, the woman lives in a dark messy room with scaled windows. The door to that room opens just a little and thus she has to struggle to push herself through to get out to the staircase. When I saw her in August 2018, she was disheveled, untidy and wore no shoes. Finding the key to my room took ages.

I told her I booked through the internet (the pay-when-you-get-there option) but apparently, she did not hear or misunderstood. She led me to a small room completely different than the one I booked. The air conditioning was old and dirty. It was obvious it hadn't been serviced in years. I waited for more than 5 minutes but it did not make the air in the room any cooler. The remote control had two batteries in but the screen was dead. I told the woman that it was extremely hot and that I could not imagine staying in a non air-conditioned room. Especially if it was 70 euro per night. The woman stated that the air conditioning was okay. I insisted it was not. Again she disagreed. And then suddenly started complimenting me on my looks. Psychology, eh?

Asked about the swimming pool shown in the pictures and mentioned elsewhere on the internet ("there is the possibility to use the pool"), the woman explained that the pool "belongs to another property" and that "it is now dead" and cannot be used. She also got impatient at this point: "It is YOU who want to stay," she reminded me. "You don't like it, you go!" 

She spoke a lot in Greek and seemed angry. When I said it is a fraud she told me to "shut up" (skáse). "You go! You get out!" she shouted. "Unless you're from the internet in which case you HAVE TO pay!" "I don't think so," I replied. And left.

Finding a nice, much cheaper hotel with air conditioning took some 5 minutes. And was a big relief. But when I tried to contact the portal through which I booked that awful room to inform them about the situation I saw a copy of an e-mail from the untidy, disheveled, problematic woman in which she lied about me demanding "hamam spa services", damaging the air conditioning and leaving.

Better keep away. Unless you're writing a book about bad hotels.

Expensive and Dreadful

Worst room ever !I've paid less to stay in better rooms in August, extremely high season! Not a room like this in July! Every day we would have problems with a/c, water, cleaning lady not appearing.. The mats of the beds were too old and there was no kitchen,even though we were supposed to have! The owner is nice, but still! Definitely not worthy, I have travelled a lot and in Greece and stayed at several rooms/hotels, I wouldn't recommend this at all!!

Worst room I've ever stayed!

booking.com reservation cancelled 5 days prior to arrival in full cooperation with booking.com , loads of bs from both parties invoved , never ever happenned to me anywhere as far as this planet is concerned .

pure scam

My husband and I booked here for 2 night we booked an apartmemt 2/4 people with full facilites balcony garden view. On arrival a scruffy dirty woman showed us to a studio for 2 it was awful it smelt and was so dirty.. we told her that we booked the aprtment after a long battle she showed us to an apartment!! Well that was even worse! The fridge was rusty and the door was hanging off the smell was worse than the first room and it still didnt have the facilites that she shows in the pictures. We didnt stay she was abusive and insisted that we still pay. Fortunatley we booked via booking.com and they have stopped her being paid. Ive never seen anything like it, the rooms are in a residential block of studios and are completely run down.

Disgusting AVOID AT ALL COST

I stayed in this place with my mother and father in two separate rooms. We where greeted by Maria and she is so friendly she made us a cake and even give us some juice upon arrival. The rooms are basic with a balcony overlooking the street. The harbor of Kos town is just a 5 minute walk away with many bars restaurants and taverns. The beach is just a 15 minute walk away. My stay was very enjoyable in Studios Desiree and Kos is a nice town

Basic but brilliant

By paying the beauty of 11 euros a night I feel like the hotel in question is perfect for me and my partner who are out all day and we only use it for a few hours at night to sleep. In addition to the availability and courtesy of Mrs. Maria they are a show..every day makes us find in the room a homemade cake or a slice of coconut..very recommended for a young couple or group of friends who do not care about the Spartan house!!

They're split, but they're very centralised and super cheap.

I booked this hotel through Booking after reading the average positive reviews from the previous guests. I must say that I immediately got the impression that I didn't make a good deal because already to find the entrance I had to go treasure hunting among signs that said Don't play, this is not the hotel! The rooms are from the first floor of a sluggish building and the owner is perfectly in tune with the environment. If you need something you have to go up to the fourth floor where the owner has a room that opens only for a spiral from which you can see the mules of blankets and towels that are stored everywhere.

Spiders and roosts

We arrived in the late afternoon after escaping from a terrible structure. We were welcomed and placed in a very clean and well maintained room with a large terrace overlooking the whole town including the archaeological site. I want to emphasize the cleanliness of the room according to Greek standards.

Surprise Mrs. Mary.

Okay, for the kindness of the lady who offered us coffee and cake, but I would have left gladly but I had to stay one night and I didn't want to move Forget it and not even so cheap, I got 35 euros, in two, my friend the same night in Kardamena with pool for 4 people 49.........stable fatigued!

Kindness is good.

It's an experience to forget. Booked based on booking reviews, we escaped after a pretty much sleepless night. A filthy, rusty room, sandy beds and a fatiguing structure. Let's leave the staff alone, made up of one person, who, out of charity, is way too kind, but understands one fifth of what you're asked and you have to go knocking on your door all the time.
