Back from Gavdos, we stopped for several days to see the surrounding beauty. The good thing was that we could book by email without giving any advance notice with an out-of-town confidence. The family is very friendly, welcoming, son Antonis runs the restaurant where we used to have breakfast and dinner every day. We tried everything and more from goat to lamb, from shrimp to squid, from octopus to sardines, full potatoes, salad, so many cooked vegetables mixed with super goodness, fave cream and so much more. Everything is good and in the end always liquor and yogurt with little fig or orange jams as in the Cretan tradition.

A nice stay.

Fabulous hotel; friendliest family-run-hotel I've ever stayed in. And I chanced upon a time with there were German musicians playing traditional music each evening with Adonis, the young son of the family. WOW. 

Longing to return

Very nice and well located hotel close to the sea. We had a room with sea view which had a nice shower of a high standard. The team was extremely friendly and committed. The food was also delicious! In addition, we even got to enjoy the Greek lyra. A real hit. Thank you!!

Full hits

Hot off the ferry from Chora Sfakion, we needed a room for two nights and thought Calypso looked promising. We were welcomed warmly and shown a room. We knew immediately that Calypso was perfect for us - very clean, comfy bed and a shady balcony for enjoying the sea view.
Two days later after great walks up the gorge and to the castle, great local food and wonderful swims, we didn’t want to leave, so we stayed 2 more!
Air con was great but even better was sleeping with it off by the light of the moon and stars,  listening to the sigh of the waves on the beach below.
We will be back next year. Thank you for the warm welcome, fresh and tasty food, the lovely room, advice on walks and some fantastic lyre playing in the evening. 
Calypso is so correctly named - we felt like Odysseus so content with Calypso that he didn’t want to home.

Excellent room, welcoming hosts

We've been coming to Calypso for several years and we've always been very welcomed. The rooms have been renovated and are of very high standing. Family hotel run by Marie is married and her two sons. They're very friendly and generous. We'll come back as often as possible. The dishes served in the restaurant are excellent. Go with your eyes closed. Thank you to them.

What a beautiful place! an incredible welcome accompanied by great Cretan generosity. an amazing sea view of the room and all the comfort expected. what about the restaurant... a great diversity of traditional dishes prepared with love by his brother and mother. a Raki rich in history as well as the stories of the village. very soon Antonis.

We stayed here 5 years ago ando loved it so much we wanted t
o stay again on our month tour of Crete. This is, without doubt the best place we have stayed. Recently refurbished the rooms are of the highest quality and standard of finish. Well designed an thought out with all amenities you could want. The comfiest beds with mattress protectors etc. Hygiene and cleanliness is clearly very important to this family run business. We ate in their taverna and again the food was outstanding with much farmed or grown in the village. This is a most friendly and gracious family with a lovely warm welcome. We will most definitely be back here again. I would rate it higher than 5* 

Simply the Best

My first visit in 2019 I really enjoyed. I went back this year with great pleasure. Since all the rooms have been renovated and especially the bathrooms, much more convenient. Really a very good address, very good welcome, comfortable and quiet rooms. And also a very good kitchen.

I like it a lot.

This is a perfect hotel for staying for a few days and relaxing in the Cretan rhythm. The French-speaking family is smiling and caring. The renovated rooms have all the comfort expected, even more for the Cretan standards and the view from the balcony is gorgeous. In addition, the Cretan cuisine is very good and the mojitos are top! I highly recommend it.

Hotel completely renovated with spacious rooms and all the comforts with a beautiful view. Great staff. Fantastic restaurant. We were only supposed to stay one night at last we extended because we didn't want to leave this little paradise anymore! We'll come back for sure and we'll advise for sure!
