Basement lodgings with options for drinks upstairs at the pub on the ground floor. Two keys are given, one for the main entrance to the lower floor & the second one for the room. Quaint arrangement but being relatively inexpensive, the room is cozy enough and comes with a private bath. A small sealed glass window on the ceiling provides natural illumination from the street, other than the electric-powered ones of course, which can still be covered by a curtain. Well, occassional voices from pedestrians can be heard but it's only a small bother. There is a shared kitchen if one decides to cook. However, there are plenty of choices from restaurants in the area.  The tram, the bus & the metro are nearby.  So are the Great Market Hall & Elizabeth Bridge. Bars, groceries & other tourist amenities abound. Helpful staff, location, free wifi, good price & comfort all make for a convenient stay. 

Down under, pub upper

I already knew it was minimalist enough as a b&b, but it was too small. The rooms were too tiny, they looked like cells. The heating didn't work, the water heater didn't work, the bathroom door had to be sliding, but it was like a tent.

I'm a little too minimalist. I'd rather avoid it.

The location of this hostel is really strategic, close to the metro, tram and bus stop. Our room was in the basement, clean and essential in the true sense of the word: bed and bathroom, no closet, no support for personal effects. There is a small common kitchen (a little messed up) with the necessary to cook, and wifi is free throughout the facility. The staff is kind but unprepared, present only during the day (more or less from 10 to 21, impossible to contact during the hours of absence), at 10 o'clock we had to clear the room but at the reception there was no one, the girl arrived at 11 o'clock and did not remember that we had to check out that morning. For the price paid we can't complain about anything, but we can find no one in a few better systems.

Very well located quite quiet near the subway....very welcome...common part with fridge oven dishwasher etc super.....toilet shower in the bedroom very well.....no harm to window and very old bedding....but given the price we can't be too demanding....

Right for the price...

We start from the fact that the price per room is very affordable (7€ per person), the strategic location: close to anything, Danube, Vaci utca, Jewish neighborhood. The two staff girls were kind and available. The rooms are essential, but for the price paid I would say they are more than fine but the whole structure has a terrible smell of smoke and during our stay all night we heard people continually running in the hallway, up and down the stairs, opening and knocking the doors with a certain regularity. I repeat: throughout the course of 4 nights. Which seemed rather ambiguous.

Positives - The hostel is really cheap and the location was within walking distance or had easy access from public transport. The staff were pretty friendly and helped us with printing boarding passes out.

Negatives - the lobby smelled strongly of smoke (our room didn't though) and the bed was pretty uncomfortable.

I would recommend as it is good value for money but don't expect great services as it is so cheap!

Cheap hostel, great location, OK facilities 

i m experienced traveller and i didnt expect much from this hostel just place where to put my luggage and bed where to sleep. If you want the same, please don"t choose this horrible place. Now I m in my appartment and it is 5 a m and my  «friendly» neighbour from the next room is listening to music...the best time to do it is 5 AM! and i have to listen to.During all the night he and his friendshad  made noises. it is impossible to have a sleep and rest at all, And the staff of the hostel did nothing- I asked them to do something with it several times , they said ok and NOTHING has happened. Really it is the first time I faced with such position of personnel and such situation . TERRIBLY. Never choose this hostel

the most horrible place

We had booked twin rooms. They put us in rooms with double beds for a group of guys and couldn't of given less of a crap about it. Evertime we tried to discuss the issue the guy in charge would nod and disappear. When he returned he had been doing DIY and asked if we wanted to pay the balance now?!?! The worst and most confusing customer service style.

Rooms were in the basement and stunk of damp. Beds as mentioned by other reviewers were solid. 

Cheap is great if you get what you paid for. We didn't. And a room that stinks out your clothes is worthless if you can't open a window to air it out.  The weird customer service of just ignore the problem and ask for money is ridiculous.

Cozy and modern hotel, situated in the center. Very welcoming and helping stuff.

Clean comfortable beds, wifi worked fine.
Close to metro line so the public communication was great. 

Tourist attractions were very close, everything by walking distance. Nice girl gave us city map for free.

Bathroom located in the room so there was no problem with sharing.

No window in the room, it was situated in basement which was cnfirmed during booking but the biggest problem was ventilation - the tube which was going above our bed and the noise was very uncomfortable and hard to manage especially during the night when we tried to sleep but couldn't.

average hostel, clean and for ok price

Great location and very kind and available staff. But hot water was often not there because there was a boiler for the whole structure. There was a single dryer for the whole living room and there were no sheets.
