Tojo Una-Una Regency

May be it's a good place for divers, but we were a group of non-divers and there was really no point to stay. No beach, not particularly friendly staff (particularly the english owner). Average rooms, not too clean. Two of our groups had also to change their rooms after dinner, following a request from staff for unspecified reasons.

perfect place to disconnect from the world. Electricity from 6-11 pm and no wifi unless a little extra pay which I don’t recommend! Very friendly staff and good cooking as well ! room are bit hot during the night but there is always a hammock free to crash and sleep next to the sea and waves. No luxury accommodation which should be clear from the beginning once you see the prices but we as a couple with a friend totally loved the place and stayed a week there. also went diving every day and equipment is well maintained, little leak here and there but that’s just normal and found in every dive center so all great, dive sites been very nice with good corals and sharks on every dive. also we went on daytrips such as melange island to see the bajo village and jellyfish lake. If we come back to togean we will stay again for sure !

Great place to disconnect and relax, or just dive dive dive, eat and sleep!

Horror story with this company. The worst experience after 20 years we operate tours in Indonesia. We ordered a stay in Black Marlin for a group of 11 people, as well as 3 private charter boat transfers. We payed everything in advance as the owner of Black Marlin resort, Crispin Gibbs, insisted. We waited in Ampana for a speedboat from Black Marlin. The boat came 3 hours later and was broken. We went on the sea and after 10 minutes the engine stopped working and the boat was non functional. We had to find a new speed boat which was very expensive due to last minute booking. After arrival in the resort, we did not have our rooms ready and there was no staff to take care of us, only two young boys, who can not keep up and run the whole resort. The accomodation is in a really bad shape. The bathrooms in most of the rooms are not functioning. The place is not maintained. I ordered day trips for my group in advance, but there was nobody to organize the day trips with. We managed to move to the next resort, Kadidiri Paradise, which is very well maintained and has a very helpfull staff. We had to organize new charter boat transfers, as the boat from Black Marlin was brokend. Neither the owner of Black Marlin, neither the staff of Black Marlin tried to helps us to find a new boat. They did not contact us in this matter at all. Now the owner Crispin Gibbs, who lives in Bali and does not care about the resort at all, refuses to return our payment back. The police will be involved in this matter. Avoid this resort and save yourself a lot of trouble.

Horror story

We are insanely happy that we were in the black marlin. The service was excellent. Every one of employees is unique. Friendly, helpful and extremely lovable. They cared for us like a family. Perfect. If we ever come to Sulawesi again, it'll be the black marlin. Love to all, Klaus and Anne

When I saw the reviews about the resort I was a little bit worried how it will be. I can tell you that the bad reviews were written by spoiled rich people who don’t know how traveling looks like. You are in Indonesia. If you don’t want an experience just stay at home.
We had the best holiday ever in Black Marlin. You have just a couple of meters till the sea and a beautiful reef just in front of the resort. You can also experience one of the best sunsets on the jetty. The food prepared by Sity was amazing. From breakfast pancakes till the delicious dinners. She also accepted us in the kitchen and showed how she cooks this delicious meals.
The staff took really good care of us. They accepted us as family! We were hanging every day and night, singing, dancing, talking about life haha :D. Dives there were amazing (I must add that Una Una has the best dive sites in the world).
There are also animals in the bedrooms, but you need to accept that, you are on the edge of the rainforest. And it is the same evereywhere in the tropics (except in the 10star resorts on Bali<-disgusting).

They also have cute dogs who love to play and cuddle!

I would really highly recommend this resort to everyone (except to the spoiled western people, stay at home!).
In the end I would like to thank again to the staff, especially to Sity, Jeffrey and Mus. I hope we will meet again sometime!

Best holidays ever

Black Marlin

We are so happy with Black Marlin! The place is lovely, we had some nice dives and had a laugh with the friendly staff. The transfer to and from Wakai is very handy. The best thing for us about Black Marlin was the 'after sales care' if you could call it that. We had a while to wait in Wakai after our transfer before getting the ferry to Gorontalo at 4pm. We were taken to The Cottages (owned by the same crowd) and given food there and coffee. While there, we found out the ferry wasn't running so a group of travellers organised a private speedboat to get us to Gorontalo otherwise some of us would have missed flights. It turned into a nightmare and we had to turn back midway because of the bad weather. We went back to the cottages (which was starting to feel like our refuge) and lots of us were put up for the night at short notice. The following morning, Crispin, the owner of Black Marlin showed up, heard our stressful story and as soon as he found out we were headed back to Ampana to get a flight from Luwuk, he organised for a guy to pick us up in Ampana. His guy was great, picked us up at the port so we didn't get hassled, got two cars organised which brought us to Luwuk airport in time to catch the evening flight to Manado. We were travelling with a French familiy who had two young kids and we all just really needed to be looked after like that.
We can't compare Black Marlin with other resorts on the island or nearby, because we stayed our four nights there, but we can say that you can count on them to look after you when the going gets tough and sometimes on the Togean islands the going can get a little tough!

Nice place!

A resort to disconnect, in the middle of nature, from the beach and away from any sign of civilization.If you don't want to do scuba diving, it's fine, there's fantastic snorkeling, and even if the tide comes down at noon, there are a couple of boats to get into the water, it's just pillarle el truquillo.The very friendly and kind people were attentive during the 8 days we spent here, they're like a family and the fantastic food!

A sea of silence and disconnection.

Black Marlin staff was great- Ronal will greet you when you arrive and take care of all of your requests such as booking dives, arranging day tours around the Togean Islands, booking your ferry, and is even the resort masseuse! "Mama" the cook is delightful and even welcomed us Western travelers into her kitchen to make Spanish Tortillas and Bananas with Dulce de Leche for the staff one night. Diving and Scuba in Togean is beautiful, matched only by Bunaken. We were even lucky enough to swim with Pilot Whales (don't count on it though)! Rooms are very beautiful but get used to limited fresh water (it has to be brought in by boat) and zero WiFi. Enjoy the detox from your electronics for a few days and bask in the sun and water.

5 Days of Diving and Social Detox

Very clean with a nice beach right in front of the bungalows. Very friendly guide. Snoring and scuba diving in front of the hotel is excellent! Pick-up in Wakai is easy. Overall nice quiet with hanging mats in the shade.

Dreamy beautiful

We stayed at this hotel for four days and had a hard time leaving, and the kindness of Syti, our host, and his culinary talents helped to make the stay a delightful one.
