I loved this place. Situated perfectly in the centre of Ubud near lovely restaurants and cafes, close walk to monkey forest etc. yet in a quiet spot and serene. The staff were so warm and welcoming, especially Ketut!  Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, with hot showers and everything you needed. I enjoyed the home cooked breakfasts every morning. Was made to feel so comfortable at this hotel and kept extending my stay.  Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Was treated very well by ketuk who gave me advise honesty and excellent customer service...will be revisiting this guest house again in november and February because of this genuine service ..nice rooms as well as good food...free coffee hot water and tea plus breakfast everyday delivered with a smile..

Top location. Lovely people. Great value for money. My room was spacious, light and clean. Plenty of restaurants and food options around. Monkey forest and a big supermarket just down the road. The owners and staff are all sweethearts.

Great Value

No hot water for 4 days in the very simpel room. No cover on pillow/blanket. On the sixth day I had to ask to get my room cleaned. Three days breakfast was so small that I had to go out and by myself extra breakfast. I wasnt given any reduction. My intention was to stay 13 days left after 11 days. The day before I left the dog bite me, they were looking 2 persons and didnt do anything. At the end I shouted loudly to get them to stop the stupid dog. I have still huge marks on my both legs and especially on the one its horrible. The owner didnt care at all and charged full price.

Will not go there again

My introduction to the amazing staff at Candra Asri started at 3 am in Denpasar. My flight was supposed to arrive at 10pm but due to a delay, didn't' get there til 3 am. I sent them an email before boarding saying, don't worry about it, I'll just grab a taxi to Ubud. Much to my surprise, there was a smiling man and his son holding a sign with my name on it. They waited there since 10pm. They waited 5-hours to pick me up. I was amazed and I don't think my own family would even do that for me. 

These are the type of people you want to stay with. 

Now, on to the actual room. I'm well aware of what a 5-star hotel is. Candra Asri is not a 5-star hotel in the traditional sense. If you want that, there are plenty of over-priced, soulless resorts around for you to choose from. In those places, you can hide from the outside world and have all your western comforts like you've barely even left home. If that's your idea of a holiday, then sure, go for it.

However, if you want to live with some amazing locals and actually learn a little bit about what Bali is actually like, then stay at Candra Asri. You'll wake up to roosters, fall asleep to gamelan music at the nearby temple and have a few lovely conversations with the staff that gives you a peek into the world of a true Balinese.

On top of all that, the rooms are clean, affordable and you're just minutes from the craziness of Jl. Monkey Forest or any main attraction. I walked everywhere and never needed a taxi once. Although trust me, you will be asked for a ride. Many, many, many times.

Candra Asri is truly a wonderful experience that I can't recommend enough.

Perfect location with a welcoming host and clean rooms! What more can you ask for?

The bathroom is a bit spartan, but acceptable. The only drawback is that it was always wet and this meant a bit of moisture in the room. We booked a room with the ventilator. If you don't suffer too much heat it's enough. The outside is very nice, clean and comfortable. Every morning Ketut brings breakfast out of the room, every morning there's something different. Coffee, tea and fresh fruit are never missing, then alternate with banana pancakes, toast with shredded eggs or honey. The price ratio is always available to us for any day and the bus guide from Ottawa to Ottawa, Ottawa, has 10 minutes to walk us back to our main location, and Ottawa has 10 minutes to get back to the hotel.

Great location, cozy and clean.

One of the very good homestays we went to. We took the cheapest room and it was perfect. Hot water but without a/c (only fan) and breakfast included. Very clean place and we feel good. The only small disadvantage (but not really disturbing) is that the place is located on the side of the road so there is a little continuous noise of cars/motors. Also, breakfast was very good but a little light for us who are big eaters... on the other hand it is served on our terrace in front of the room :) Very well located in Ubud.

Beautiful large clean rooms and charming property

It was great to be able to have breakfast on the terrace. It's a very nice place with a beautiful garden, quiet, staffed and well-maintained, super well-placed, 5-10 minutes' walk from the palace.

It's great accommodation.

A very good place to stay in Ubud, always complete, very well located and excellent service. We recommend you to choose the highest room with a very nice view and an outdoor bathroom. The price ratio is honest. We can only recommend this hotel.
