Toyoko Inn Tokushima-eki Bizan-guchi hotel is located about a 10-15 minute walk from Tokushima train station but very close the Awa Odori Kaikan. The hotel also provides  free shuttle service to/from Tokushima train station upon request and shuttle availability.

Like all other Toyoko Inn hotels, you get free breakfast and consistent service, amenities and rooms. 

The staff here was good, quick and polite.

Consistency is key at Toyoko Inn

I got a single room with a double bed for just under 6000¥. Most hotels in the station area were full due to a convention mid November and I was lucky to find a room there thanks to a last minute cancellation. Efficient staff and free luggage storage.

Convenient and comfortable hotel

The hotel is good and affordable for business people, but it does not offer any other service. The rooms are very small, rather noisy, the hall is only suitable for e-mail checking, and the hotel is about 10 minutes' walk from the train station.

Small, practical and for one night only

Location,rooms and service are always good.
With a breakfast included in the price, you cannot beat it for value.
Against other business hotels in this price range Toyoko  rooms are better value

Nice stay

It's kind of dignified and clean, but you don't want to stay in your room for too long because the rooms are really too small, almost claustrophobic. At least it's close to the train station and there's internet in the room. The bathroom is so small that you risk going out of the shower and putting your foot in the toilet cup.

Small rooms, claustrophobic too small!!

One of 2 Toyoko Inns in Tokushima (you see both as you leave the station: know which one you have booked!), this one is 10-15 minute walk from the station. Welcome coffee (unlike in the Sasebo Toyoko where we are now: why do some Toyokos have coffee and others not?). Typically friendly welcome and typically clean rooms with all you need. When we arrived back in the evening they were serving free curry and rice, and although we didn't have any (more fun to find an izakaya later) it looked perfectly good. We availed of their free and friendly taxi service both mornings we were there (small car waits in front of the hotel), which was especially welcome the second day as it was raining. To visit the attractive park on the other side of the rail station, turn left out of the station and walk for 5 minutes to a footbridge over the railway. If you are on a rail pass consider the great train journey down to Hawasa and (for an extra 270 Yen) Kannoura): rural Japan at its prettiest. Lots of tsunami shelters too: life on a subducting plate boundary seems even more precarious than usual.

I am a big fan of Toyoko Inns. They are great value and you always know what you are getting. The staff here was very friendly and the location was great .

Great base for Tokushima Prefecture

We are big fans of the Toyoko Inn chain hotels, as they offer clean, modern, comfortable rooms in the city centers at reasonable prices. The Inn in Tokushima is no exception and we recommend it to all other travelers, especially those traveling on a tight budget. 

To start off with, the location is great, very close to the river and the riverside parks, great for running or walking at any time of day. There is no shortage of shops and eateries in the area and it is about a 10 min walk to/from the train station.

The room itself was bigger than the average business hotel. There was actually space for a small chair and table set in front of the picture window that gave great views out over the hills. Our non-smoking room was spotlessly clean, bright, modern, comfortable and smelled good, obviously very well maintained. Although located on a busy road, there was absolutely no problem with road noise. The bathroom was the standard Japanese mini-micro style but very functional. The small LCD TV had no English programming. Other thoughtful amenities included a hot water jug, fridge, hair dryer, and free internet connection. Laptop computers are available for rent at reception for $11/day or you can just use the free internet computers in the hotel lobby. 

Included in the price is a free breakfast in the hotel lobby, predominantly Japanese food, but nothing to rave about – fairly basic. We found the hotel staff to be very friendly and attentive, always eager to help out and provide information. Their level of English is generally fairly reasonable.

For about $90 for a double room, we felt this was pretty good value. Car parking was in an adjacent elevated “high-rise” silo where all the cars were stacked vertically on top of one another – ingenious, great use of space – and it cost about $5/day. We recommend this hotel, as well as the Toyoko Inn hotel chain, to other travelers in Japan. We will definitely continue to stay in these hotels during future trips to Japan.
