The staff is very forthcoming.  The japanese breakfast is luxurious.
We stayed in the "star room", a japanese style suite for up to 4 people, which is worth the extra money. We requested, and got, also a japanese dinner which was a visual and taste delight. Lake Towada itself is worth a trip.
      

A very positive experience

Firstly don't be confused with the Lakeside Hotel which handles the online bookings, this is a separate establishment. 

There is vey little accommodation at Lake Towada in the main area of  Yasumiya. Country Road is really a B&B about 10 mins walk from the JR Bus terminal or ferry boat from Nenokuchi. Most visitors would end up here after walking the Oirase Stream which is a really enjoyable hike. We took the bus from Hachinohe with a small overnight back pack, got off at Ishigedo and walked the 10K Oirase Stream to Nenokuchi.

Although reception has no English speaking staff, they are helpful and friendly.

The rooms are small with a double bed. They are old but clean and have an efficient heater.

There is a common bathroom ( separate male & female) which is modern and very clean. They also have bath tubs.

A common dining room is used for breakfast which consisted of salad, eggs and bread roll. Not high in variety but ok for 1 night travellers.

There are few restaurants that we could find, but luckily we had bought some packet noodles which we could prepare in the kitchen . As in all Japan hotels there are numerous vending machines sell drinks, beer, packet noodles, chocolate etc at the hotel.

In summary, we liked the hotel, it is not a traditional back packer place but more caters for middle class Asian travellers .

We would stay there again .

Great B&B not to be confused with Lakeside Hotel

First of all, the hotel is not located where the google map indicates. We had to ask the tourist office. The photo of the exterior shown on the tripadvisor does not correspond to the country road hotel. The hotel is more of a hostel, at the entrance of the village and about 15 minutes' walk from the bus station. It is true that it is the cheapest hotel in the area that we find, but we would not repeat it because it is very basic. You have to unpaint your feet to enter the hotel, but the kitchen does not invite you to it because it is very old, as is the furniture in the room, which is very small and uncomfortable. The common bathrooms were not very clean. The wifi does not reach the room and the common areas are not very spacious. The only thing: the attention of the preservationist who prepared us with the coconut, eggs and butter and coconut milk.
