Stayed 2-nights at the APA Villa Hotel whilst traversing the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.  With the combination of late arrivals and early  starts it suited my requirements perfectly; budget priced and easily accessible to Toyama JR Station, as well as a variety of restaurants, etc for an evening meal.  As a bonus, it was just a short walk further down the street to Toyama Castle Ruin Park for an evening stroll

We stayed here for the Toyama Owara festival. Location is good - within walking distance to metro station, which has plenty of eateries.
Room is very small. There is a complimentary bus ride, do ask for it at the receptionist.

I think the only positive things I can say about this hotel are that it’s close to the station, the front desk staff was absolutely lovely, and it’s fairly cheap, but you also get what you pay for. 

The room itself is a standard size of what you might find in other Japanese hotels, but the cleanliness was not up to par. The bathroom had mold (see pictures) on the walls and it smelled like dirty pipes when the water was used. The bed frame was also topped with dust, further making me question the cleanliness. The mattress was also the hardest mattress I’ve ever laid on, might as well have slept on the floor. The window looked out to a car park, though it was non-smoking it often smelled of some sort of smoke, and noise insulation was pretty bad, as we could hear our neighbors perfectly out in the hallway. I would not recommend nor would I book here again. If I had the option, I would rather pay more for a different hotel than this one. 

Mold in bathroom

I booked this hotel,cause we wanted to go to Tateyama Kurobe Alpine route.
If you come by JR..just walk through the left side of the pedestrian,and across the street,walk maybe 200 metres,you will find this hotel.
The receptionist was very friendly and kind,and welcomed us very well.
The room itself was very tiny,maybe it is fit for transit.


Tiny room

1. Location: Within walking distance of the main train station. There is no shortage of convenience stores and restaurants in the vicinity.

2. Rooms: Small, but not un-typical for Japan and I did not want to pay too much. Comfortable enough and wifi works well. TV has a couple of English channels, once you learn how to toggle the sound system on the remote control.

3. Staff: Polite and functional. Competent communication in English.

Good for the price paid ...

This hotel is located 3 minutes walk from JR Toyama station and is easy to find.  There are a lot of eateries nearby including in and around the station.  The room size is small but consistent with other hotels in this price category.  You can book the hotel without breakfast.  My room had a nice view of the main road/city.  There was a coffee sachet in the room which was nice as some hotels only provide green tea.  Staff was helpful with giving directions of the vicinity.  I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I ever visit Toyama again.

perfect location

We stayed here one night (May 2018) after completing the Alpine Route.
Very easy hotel to find from the station - not even a 5min stroll. hotel is on the list of hotels when using the baggage transfer options from omachi onsenkyo - so super handy.
Room was normal size for a double in Japan - no more than 10m2 - so Humorous when trying to fit large humans with luggage in (lol). Bed comfy and room well appointed.
Toyama itself was calmer than what we expected and we found a great seafood restaurant near the station - delightful.

Great Location

The hotel is in a great location, only a few minutes walk along the main road from Toyama station. My single room was clean, compact and neatly laid out. However, the bed was much too hard for me and I ended up wrapping the bedding underneath me, like a sleeping bag! If you like a firm bed, this wouldn't be an issue. The breakfast buffet was very good and you could see the chef freshly preparing the food at the open kitchen. The staff were polite and could communicate well in English.

Good hotel but very hard bed

The budget hotel of the Ara network is located near Toyama Station, which is very convenient if you stop here by car. The rooms are small, but equipped with everything you need, delicious breakfast in the cafe downstairs, very polite staff.

This is a hotel.

The size of the room was very small, with no room to leave the luggage. The breakfast is especially bad and especially expensive. With these characteristics, the price of the room is really expensive. The business hotel located next to Toyama Station, with several restaurants very close by. The staff, as everywhere in Japan, is extremely friendly and polite.
