I recently stayed here twice on two different legs of a self-driving road trip through northern Laos.

I will most likely stay here again as it is clean and comfortable enough and is a logical place to stay between Luang Prabang and the far north. The property also has ample parking.

This is a typical family-run budget accommodation, the likes of which can be found all over the region.

At a walk-in rate of 130,000 LAK, I can't find anything to complain about with the exception of the Wi-Fi. On my first visit, staying on the second floor, it worked fine, however, last night, on the fourth floor, it didn't work at all.

Pretty average budget accommodation, good enough for a night

We stayed there for three nights, the 27th and 28th of February and the 1st of March 2019 in room 308 with balcony and superb views of the city. The fare was 150,000 kips per night. The hotel is impeccable and clean. We breathe a very pleasant scent as soon as we enter. We had a builder with instant coffee and food consisting of noodles in which boiling water is poured. The wifi was good in general but could become capricious at certain times of the day. A summary can be done but we insist politely for special requests such as washing the room or putting on a strong chaise and noodles. The young owner is very kind and serene and we can talk to him and talk to him for a very easy half to control the communication. We wrote a large channel in which we poured hot water, but the wifi was good in general but could become whimsical at certain times of the day. We took a few minutes to get to the bathroom from the northern terminal of the hotel.

An excellent hotel with a very reasonable rate

I was only in Muang Xai for one night to catch the plane to Vientiane the next day. After days in the village, you can also enjoy yourself. The Amphon Hotel is modernly decorated, with large rooms and comfortable beds. Coffee and various noodle soups are ready for the little hungry. The bathroom is huge and very clean. The staff at the reception are friendly and helpful. The airport transfer was done free of charge without much inquiry. There are some sights nearby and also restaurants and supermarkets are within walking distance.

Good hotel for a stopover

Room without pretence and without breakfast, but offering all the basic comforts: hot shower (which sprays everywhere), wi-fi, not too hard bed, boiler with nescafé and Chinese noodles.

For a night out

We're here for two nights. Very nice reception, proper, clean room, bathroom OK with good lighting. Good for a stage in this city where there's not much to see except the two vats and the morning market (which is the least nice of all we've seen in Laos).

For a stop over between Luang Namtha and Muang khua,I tried to escape the hustle of  the city  center,so it was a  20 mn walk to this "standard " hotel,offering clean rooms,free bottles of water in the fridge,no restaurant.Not too close from the bus station,but the  guesthouses I visited around bus station,although less expensive , looked gloomy and did not provide wifi.,
Nothing special in town apart from the tourism office providing a lot of infos about the area with helpful staff.

The room was a solid size. It had a working TV with about 25 channels. None in English, French or German, this didn't bother us. Free water in the fridge which was nice. Free all in one coffee and paid snacks if you desire. The bed was large enough and an additional duvet in the cupboard. Good air conditioning.The room was quite clean by European standards and very clean compared to other places we have stayed in Vietnam and Loas. It was quiet enough to sleep, which was good, it was located near a karaoke bar but this didn't bother us. The bathroom is a wet room style. They provided good toiletries of toothpaste, toothbrushes, shower cap and soap. The shower was hot. The hotel was located in easy walking distance from the bus station. We found the reception staff to have good English in my opinion.

Great for a stop over

The city isn't a metropolis, it's true, but if you happen to be festive, out of hand, without tuk tuck around, staff who don't speak anything but Lao, rain, karaoke under every roof, the hotel will also be passable, the room is clean, the bathroom is there, the hot water is clean, Wi-Fi is in the room, but on the main street of the hotel and guesthouse there is plenty of it and you don't have to walk 20 minutes to find a place to eat. Not to mention that the next morning I went down to the lobby at 7:00 and I didn't find any living soul, so I had to walk to the bus station to pick up a tuk to take your luggage.

First of the Year

When the owner found out that we were Italian, he lit up telling us that he was typing Inter (Indaa with Laotian pronunciation). He made himself available both the same day to take us to the city centre and the next day to accompany us to the bus station about 20 kilometres away. The structure is very new and the rooms are clean with a very fast wifi connection.
