Charm and authenticity in a green setting for this establishment discovered in 1997 for us. Bungalows on water but also on land.

Authentic and typical.

Very pleasant staff, listening to the guests. Very pleasant bungalow on a very pleasant platform with a superb sea view from where we can see the whales. Very good food with choice. In Lakana you feel family, the atmosphere is warm. Rova at the reception is an exceptional person she will make your stay unforgettable by her kindness and dedication. This is an exceptional stay!

Lakana is a marvellous place, one of a kind! Made my stay in Saint Marie memorable and special. 

The hotel Owner and Manager (Rova) are very welcoming and helpful. They helped organise a hiking expedition (with experienced Tour Guide Martial - highly recommend!) to spot chameleons and other notable flora and fauna, as well as diving trips. The hotel grounds are extremely well looked after, with thoughtful notices informing about the specific plants that grow there. The dining experience is exceptional - homemade mouthwatering dishes. Not to mention the creative cocktails! 

The bungalow (on water) is very comfortable, and I slept extremely well. Having travelled to 75+ countries, it means a lot for me to leave such a positive review, so I hope more lucky visitors get to enjoy the beauty of Lakana! 

Lakana is a marvellous place!

A very clean hotel by the sea. There are no insects (quite rare on the island). The restaurant is very good. The staff is competent, smiling and organizing. The people who work at the hotel have really taken care of us, giving my wife a lot of personalized attention for her birthday. We thank them again.

Perfect location on Sainte Marie, a quiet cove with shallow and calm water perfect for wading in.  The staff is primarily French speaking (we are not) but we felt well cared for by everyone we interacted with.  The food and drinks were delicious with lots of variety, we had fun playing ping pong and reading from their large selection of books, and the staff helped us book a whale watching tour with researchers Cetamada (an absolute must-do!)  Perfect for a tranquil, relaxing stay.

Serene beachside stay in Sainte Marie

Lovely staff, super attentive and very professional, impeccable service with varied meals, delicious and very well served, very comfortable rooms with neat and warm decoration, thank you for this wonderful stay that you have given us.

It's a great stay.

We spent 4 nights and 4 days in Lakana and this stay will remain a very nice and good memory for several reasons. Firstly, the place itself by the lagoon and with a beautiful view of the Mozambique Channel, the hotel layout with the restaurant with a view of the sea, the many small lounge corners that allow everyone to find a quiet corner,... And the team, the whole team, was nice, attentive, cheerful, full of humor, a great one for all these ladies.

A magical stay

This place is a dream, an oasis of tranquility, colours, scents and Malagasy flavors. We stayed eleven nights at the Lakana in the Far Away bungalow from which we were able to admire the whales who jumped and played just a short distance from us. Spectacular sunsets. Very kind and smiling staff. Dress a very nice, generous, friendly and very prepared director. A great restaurant, typical dishes of Sainte Marie based on fish, but also chicken, zebú, fruit, delicious rum.

Dreaming

We spent 10 nights and during our stay, all the staff were listening to us, taking care of us. The food was delicious and good especially breakfast. The cocktails were very good too. We tasted their sushi, a real treat. We took a double bungalow facing the sea, the bungalow is charming, well maintained and clean. The sea right in front is ideal for swimming especially with small children because it is protected from the waves thanks to the lagoon! We will come back there!

A warm, peaceful, and welcoming place

Home warm, the owners are really friendly, the prices are affordable, listening and responsive staff, the dishes are really good, a quiet place to recharge for the rooms just what it takes without a chick I highly recommend
