the padungan hotel is a small modern place located on padungan street , close to some chinese cafes and the very convenient ' everrise ' supermarket and within easy walking distance to the waterfront .
it is a very ' functional ' place - by that i mean that it has zero decoration anywhere , all the walls are white and unadorned , it could fit anywhere in the world but then again  it ' s modern and convenient . i had a double room on the 4 floor ( they have an elevator ) , it was spacious and airy with a window to the street . A.C. worked well as well as the wifi . the television had very few channels in english - i would just tune in to the music channel .... they provide a hair dryer and a kettle but no coffee or tea ( a little fridge would have been the icing on the cake but no such luck ) , shower was great too , super hot & powerful ! they will clean the room daily if you so desire  .
the front desk staff spoke good english and was super friendly and accommodating so i ' d said if you are travelling on a budget and are looking for a bit of comfort this could be a good address for you , certainly worked out great for me !

nothing to complain about

This is a modern hotel a short walk from the main tourist sights. But you are in a great local commercial area absolutely surrounded by all types of eating establishments. Everything about the hotel worked well. The room is spacious and light but with good blockout curtains. Wifi, bed comfort and hot showers all were good. The TV had a number of English channels. The shower had an inadequate screen so did splash the rest of the bathroom a little. All the staff wrre friendly and housekeeping worked hard.

Great hotel

The hotel has a very good location in "China Town" not far away from Kuching Waterfront. A lot of dining options around. The hotel itself is very clean, with AC in rooms. Nice experience for a good price.

Great location and price

This is the best hotel in this price range i ever stayed in. The hotel is really clean and the staff are friendly. It is not a big hotel but it is well managed with excellent service. Located in the middle of China town where you easily find food especially chinese food. Few minute walks to the waterfront, cat monument, waterfront bazaar, nearby shopping mall also souvenirs shop and bars. Good job guys! Definitely will recommend people to stay here.

PS: I booked the hotel via Traveloka and they offered cheaper price compare to other company 😉

Best budget hotel in Kuching

The hotel is smack in the middle of Chinatown and very near to attractions like the Kuching Waterfront, temples, souvenir shops and popular eateries. This makes the hotel an ideal place to spend our 2 nights' stay. The only downside is you can only park in front of the row of shops and we had to make 2 rounds before finding a spot before checking in, in the afternoon. It's easier to find parking spots at night and early morning.

Super location, clean rooms

Relatively close to the center, about a 10-minute walk away. Perfect Wifi. Spacious and clean living room. Comfortable bed. Glass-separated shower from the rest of the bathroom, which is rare here in Asia. Personal friendly. I definitely recommend it.

Great location very close to the centre of New Chinatown.
Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful during my stay.
Rooms were spotless.
Some very good eating places within a very short walking distance.
Highly recommended.

New budget hotel. Very friendly service and great value

Spacious rooms, hot water around the clock, towels, air conditioning and ventilator in the room, large windows (open), 2 bottles of water, jelly shampoos and daily cleaning. Water in 1.5 litre bottles can be purchased at the reception cheaper than in the store. Quick settlement, comfortable beds. To the city center and the waterfront 10-15 minutes on foot. Remarkable staff (will do everything possible to make you feel good) and excellent location. The view of their rooms to the city. There are smoking and non-smoking rooms - choose the right one in advance.

A great choice for a few nights in Kuching!

I stayed for 3 nights at Padungan with my partner, the hotel already looks good from the outside. It is newly built, and our room was large (the largest of our Malaysian living rooms) and complete with all the comforts; also the room was made every day.

We booked two rooms in this hotel in Kuching for one night. The rooms were large enough and clean enough although strangely designed with a pillar in the middle, the average bunk. The bathroom was a little outdated, and there was no breakfast, which is not inconvenient because there are many small restaurants and short food on the street at the foot of the hotel. But 300 MYR (65 €) for 2 rooms (one with 4 beds, and the other with 2 beds, we were 4 adults and 2 children) was then a very reasonable price. The hotel is not too fast, although it is located a little far from the tourist district, it allows you to reach the Sarawak river in 5 minutes.
