I called this place smoking den because the inn keeper with his friend smoking days and night at the inn throughout our stay. until those smell goes inside our room. they watch tv also super loud until upstairs living area can heard. we ask change to higher floor as can’t take those cigarettes smell. the man said will arrange but until we check out still nothing. is kind disappointed stay actually plus they seem didnt expecting us when we arrive. phone can’t be reach when we need call them to know the location. the view is nice but no point since u can’t open the window for too long. as outside is so noisy those music at night or when the downstairs is cooking all the smell will go inside room if u don’t close the window. plus shared toilet is very inconvenient. BUT for location? Yes this place is at very nice area. 

The smoking Den

We spent 3 days here in this place and it was not a pleasant visit especially when the place us flooded with smoke, apparently the owner and his friend smoked all the time in the guest house where there is a sign that visitors will get fined for RM500 if caught smoking at the place. I was kind of surprised that a man was told not smoke when he checked in but at the same time the whole place is like a smoking den with terrible smell of smoke which even enters to our room and causes us not sleeping very well. We opened the window to get some fresh air but here comes the smell of smoke from the kitchen. The towels provided are smelly as well as the blanket. Don’t think the place is properly cleaned like what the other reviews had mentioned. I think it is the time for the owner and staffs to step up and make it a better place to visit as many places has been close down due to MCO. Luckily we brought our own bedsheets and blankets or else we will suffer in the bed smell of the pillows and blankets . Everything can be better. 

Not a good experience

I stayed here for a month waiting for a flight during a partial covid lockdown.  I certainly wasn't expecting to have such a lovely time.  The manager, Ho, kept everything spotlessly clean and constantly amazed with his DIY skills.  Because of the partial lockdown, there were only four of us there (including him) and so he cooked a meal for us all each week.  He's a very good cook. The place has everything you need and my room was spacious with a good bed.  The location is excellent and it was delightful to make a coffee each morning and sit out by the river. 
Overall, a simple but good place to stay with a wonderful manager who made us all feel very welcome.

My first dorm experience in Melaka. Rm 25 gets you a free locker, towel, room with ac, free water. Locker is the biggest i have used in my dorm travels ( picture for reference. I could fit my backpack and helmet easily ). Kitchen is simple and comes with the usual utensils ( feels like home ) with a great view of Melaka River outside the window. Special mention to the two gentlemen during check in for their warmth and hospitality. For those riding a motorbike, you can on the pavement just outside the main door.

Great Place

Upon our arrival the door was locked.  We had to ring the bell, knock on the glass and was about to call the number when a staff member came to the door.  She came from the shower, which indicated to us the property was short staffed.  After giving our details, we were given a key and directed to our room on the 3rd Floor.  As we were making our way upstairs, a young man in what appeared to be a Dominatrix Outfit  (all Black Leather or Plastic Leather with chains on the collar) descended past us.  After greeting him, we looked at each other in surprise!  Later that night we heard the loud moaning of a male voice and whipping sounds.  This continued through to the next morning.  Given that this small property has only 2-3 rooms on each floor, the In-Room Noise is easily heard from the hallway and other rooms.  We did not sleep well thinking the police would raid it as a place for illegal Sex Tourism.  We stayed because other accommodations within our budget were fully committed.

Questionable Establishment

For the price 35RM for a single room(if you take more than one night 30RM) it's a good deal. Even some dorms are more expensive than the Oriental. My room was clean with a fresh bed shied (what is rear for a budget hotel in SEA) and the shared bathroom was also clean. Breakfast (Toast) is included and the location is good also the hotel is really quiet. Cons are the slow Wifi and that my room had no window and no AC just a fan. 

Good for one or two nights

I've been here twice and enjoyed it each time. It's not the fanciest place and the facilities are a bit simple but their staff are so accommodating and nice you almost fear you're taking advantage! One of the friends I came with has a sight impairment and is also extremely afraid of the heat. Kak Aini made sure she could easily access the bathroom and also gave us a stand fan in addition to the room's air-conditioning. She also gave us extensions for the power plug and basically free run of the kitchen because everything in the fridge is apparently common property (so if you bought something and put it in the fridge please label it). The view of the river was splendid and if you return the key on time you can walk out the backdoor. All in all it was way better than I expected for the price I paid.

Clean, Peaceful and Great Value for Money

Guesthouse by the river, well-placed to visit the city, staff are very nice, friendly and friendly, the rooms are clean and relatively spacious according to the room, although different from what we expected, they were quite poorly equipped: the wifi doesn't work everywhere.

Nice and convenient guesthouse

This small guest house, though a little defraichie, is not without its old-fashioned charm. Large room with a 180 cm bed, very clean shared bathroom and kitchen available with river view. Coffee, tea, biscuits offered in count on a plate of fruit to welcome you. Perfect!

Very well located

We stayed 2 nights in a double room with a view of the river, the room was great, very clean, with ventilation, air conditioning, two huge windows and a very comfortable mattress, and they helped us a lot with the theme of buses.
