The rooms are clean, spacious, only cash-only, the restaurant has service only from Thursday to Sunday, there are no nearby establishments (shops, places to buy food or drinks), you have to travel to the village of Catemaco to find, it's very nice and quiet to be with the family, the staff is very friendly and accessible, allow access to pets, the rooms of $1,200 have screen and cable TV and those of $900 with box TV and only manage 2 channels. You have to carry quite a catel for mosquitoes, has access to an independent caterpillar, very nice and where they are also very friendly but also only cash-only. It also has access to the boats, which are independent, so that you can get to the surroundings of the lagoon and forget about the caterpillar, to get to know the caterpillar in the center of La Carmen del Carmen.

DON’T STAY HERE. I was covered in bed bug bites after I left. The rooms seemed ok, there was hot water and the grounds were quite nice but the place looked definitely run down. The pool looked clean but the whole area was not very inviting. They cooked breakfast for our group, which was quite good, but they weren’t open for dinner so had to drive into town to another hotel, which seemed much nicer.

The service is very good and the place is clean, besides that it has affordable restaurant prices, the internet doesn't reach the rooms, I'm looking forward to having a themezcal, but if you see that this is incredible.

We visited Catemaco as a family, decided to stay in the hotel of our childhood memories, sadly found ourselves in an abandoned and unmaintained place. The rooms are basic, clean sheets and clean bathroom. There was no light or hot water. That was very uncomfortable. We found trash in the gardens (as the rooms sweep and trash is thrown into the garden) and worse, in the themezcal area, which is very neglected, we found 4 dogs, puppies in poor condition!! That night there was a storm and so tied to the weather one of them! What horror!!! What bad taste of our hotel is left.

Decepcionated 😔

A nice quiet hotel on the shores of the magical Lake Katemako. We stayed with my wife in January and there were a few people in the hotel besides us. It seemed that people came to the hotel to enjoy the silence and meditate in the surroundings of beautiful nature near a beautiful lake.

Playa Azul

The best part: - The location - La vista de la Laguna es maravillosa - It has its own pier, the boats for walking are straight up and are even cheaper than in the city Lo no tan bueno: - Very old rooms, with very little maintenance - Uncomfortable bathrooms (including the cup was loose!) - La alberca is very nice, but it is dirty, with little maintenance, neglected In short, a good option for families and large groups, away from everything (and with a little sign of staying), but a stay not very comfortable.

Amplio, beautiful location but very careless.

The hotel is good, it has a restaurant, it is surrounded by a lot of vegetation, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, it has a pool and a small pier that has an incredible view of the lagoon, definitely a place to rest and detach and a bit of the noise of the city.

Spacious rooms, comfortable rooms, the staff of 10, the dining of the affordable restaurant and very close to the place, the areas to walk very well, a place that I would definitely return to visit, I went with my family.

An excellent place to relax.

Our day trip to the Laguna sontecomapan and catemaco turned into two. Exhausted from the day's adventures, we stayed at the Playa Azul hotel on the same road that leads to La Barra/Sontecomapan. What a pleasant surprise on the highway for weary travelers. This hotel right on the Laguna has free WiFi, restaurant on the premises, very knowledgeable staff and the rooms are spacious, and clean. This is not a 5-star hotel but I give it 5-star for the people who operate the property. In addition to the well manicured landscaping, they offer a spa. It's rustic but the services are A+. I've been to high end spas, and this by far, provided me the same type of service for a fraction of the price. We also took advantage of the sweat lodge and that was fantastic, but it's not for everyone, unless you're open-minded since it's a spiritual experience. 

Catemaco 

This misleadingly self-entitled resort and spa grand hotel is all but that.
The rooms feel like a 1950's apt, with no hot water and an electrical sort-of heating shower. Only 4 channels on tv and pretty deteriorated pool and terrace. It is a family friendly hotel and as such very noisy.
The restaurant is so-so, the upside is its prices.
Far away from downtown, but has a pier from which you can take a boat to pretty much anywhere.
Id stay somewhere else, the beds were horrible and had to leave after one night having paid two beforehand.t
