The hotel is well located, it's pretty picturesque like everything else in the city, the attention isn't the best, the receptionists aren't very friendly and strange because in Morocco everyone is super friendly but if the hotel's attention wasn't the best, the breakfast is pretty bad, there are no options, only sweet things, in my case I didn't have a problem but if there were complaints in other rooms about the street noise, people talking and everything was heard.

A basic hotel.

I would recommend it for the courtesy of the staff who supported me both by booking dinner and by organizing a small birthday party right in the hotel and also accompanying me to the bakery.

I've been traveling for 50 years and I've slept in all kinds of hotels and boarding houses, but the Madrid hotel has been the worst I've ever been to.

More than just a hotel boarding house.

It was a very picturesque hotel, but a little uncomfortable. The bathroom was very strange, with special mosaics and sculptures. The room also had a unique shape and a huge amount of furniture for the size. We had a special room because it was the corner room above the hotel entrance.

This is a unique hotel.

This is a small boutique hotel located just across the way from the main plaza. The staff is great. The rooms all have amazing detail, even the ceiling. The breakfast is good. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are very clean. The downstairs area is very large and comfortable.

A slice of heaven

I was originally going to give this hotel three stars because it has some rough aspects to it, but it really has a lot of charm and character to it so I moved it to 4.

Pros: The rooms are beautiful. They include a lot of decoration and some rooms have balconies. Our room had a sitting area with cushions and windows that opened up to a view. A lot of the ceilings and walls were hand-painted throughout the hotel and inside the room.

Cons: The bathroom is a bit rough. The sink was loose, the whole thing was extremely small, and the shower was tiny so just expect water to spray pretty much everywhere. 

If these are things you can live with, I highly recommend it because it really is a great place to stay on a budget! Although it is not in the Medina, it's still in a really great location to access it quickly.

Has charm, but a little rough around the edges

I stayed here as part of a G Adventures tour of Morocco. Everyone on the trip was happy with their room, but I really lucked out and got a huge, elaborately decorated room on the 3rd floor. It had a nice sized bed with an enormous seating area (seriously, about 8 people could hang out in this room on the couch). 

The one downside was the bathroom. It was WAY too small. You had to wedge yourself in to use the toilet. The shower was this strange stone structure with no curtain so water went all over the bathroom floor. Still, the room itself more than made up for the bathroom.

Breakfast was OK. Not bad, not great. Morocco in general just doesn't have good hotel breakfasts. I would choose this place again if in town because of its great location and comfy rooms.

Overall, a nice choice in Chefchaouen
