Comfortable for the price and especially because it's a simple riad from Morocco. Very well we feel. The guy from the riad went to get us up to the taxi as to get there is pedestrianised. We traveled in April 2018 as a couple.

Well ubiquitous.

Very well located in the medina and very close to the square of the royal palace. Very cheap. Medium comfort, but perfect for strays. Not suitable for tourists accustomed to luxury establishments

Good quality price ratio

This is a very well-located establishment, but this is the only value, the rooms are worth nothing, there is a bad smell in general and especially a lot of cuddling, uncomfortable beds, no internet, no router working and no one said it from the beginning, a mistrustful host who likes to talk and look at a cultural level and is just a vivid vague who with a cool, friendly image has nothing good.

A bad experience.

I spent a wonderful time in Tetouan and could not have chosen a better place than Hotel Africa to stay in. Very friendly personal and boss Nordin; they pick you up from the taxi to avoid other moroccans that ask money for guiding you. Clean, cozy rooms with own bath + hot water. Great talking and sitting together with great people! + I sprinkeling water I

Braaavo!

This place was an absolute highlight of our stay, but it's all about the experience and opening up to people and unexpected events, so forget it if you're only interested in a luxurious apartment without any human interaction. Hotel Africa has a superb central location, a rooftop terrace with an amazing view over Tetouan, and the lobby is quite impressive too as it's a historical building with traditional interior design. In our case it was a random walk-in and hunt for a low price as we arrived to Tetouan pretty late in the evening and our budget was rather tight. The rooms we saw had more of a hostel standard, but the price was rather low and ours was located by the rooftop terrace, where we could not only enjoy the views, but also interract with other travelers and the hotel staff. The owner/manager of the place (or whoever that beautiful crazy soul is) was such a character! We had a blast from the very second we entered the building, and we couldn't stop laughing until the end of our stay. Actually, long after that we would still quote some of the guy's sayings! We got offered tons of mint tea with dates, haggled for a good price much to a delight of both sides, and spent quite some time engaging into both deep and hilarious conversations with the eccentric philosopher-type owner who was always surrounded by a cloud of whatever he was smoking from his pipe. Super amusing and highly recommended if you're after local experience rather than generic excellent standard hotel.

A memorable night in Africa

Except for the very rough reception everything is ugly dirty glaucoma... littered water room improbable... you'll have to explain to me where the kitchenette is... but the terrace is fine... and the Medina opens your arms...

It's a horror.

The hostel owner was nice enough but he had a friend who spent all his time in the lobby and offered "free" tours. He was insistent on giving my friend and I a tour but we knew he would ask for money so we refused. On the second day of our stay we ran into him at the medina, he again insisted we follow him to a shop, my friend and I reluctantly agreed. Once there the shop owner was no less insistent. He showed us carpet after carpet. When he asked if we liked anything I pointed to something small and said it was nice. He immediately put it in a bag and told me the price, which I found extremely high. He then started guilting me by talking about the women who made the item, in the end I bought. Once I got to my home stay I showed my host mother who told me the man over charged me about $20 and that if a woman did make it only the bare minimum would go to them because these shop owners are known for taking advantage of women who craft. 
I was so bummed but knew I had to spread the word about this guy, he's the worst!

In bad company

The nice and clean room, the warm water...almost cold!! The room would need renovation and cleaning, especially the sofas!! But the courtesy of the owner is the strong point!! Always cheerful and smiling... Bravooooooo

No praise, but...

I arrived when the hotel was under construction.Nour, the host makes you feel part of the hotel Africa, and of Tetuán, from the moment you walk through the door.Although the room was a bit ugly and did not have wifi (on the terrace), I would recommend visiting the hotel because of its location, price and environment.

The host is the key.

A very hospitable and caring place and staff. Ahmed and Nordin are friendly and open - willing and willing to share words of wisdom with guests. Safe and honest. Beautiful view from the terrace, warm shower, affordable, conveniently located and good housing in Medina.
