My partner and I have just come back from a 5 night stay in this amazing apartment.
What can I say other than luxury all the way and my heart breaks knowing that the owners have now sold up and will no longer be letting it out as a b&b after May.

Luxury and a real haven full of art and exquisite items , in Amsterdam

My wife and I stayed in the Royal Canal Suite for Valentines trip to Amsterdam .  We found hotels were very expensive and for a similar price of a luxury hotel we were able to get the fabulous Royal Canal Suite.  We booked using booking.com and after booking received a prompt email from Ria asking us to pay half the balance using PayPal and then the other half when we arrived which was fine.  Ria also offered a collection service from the airport for 30 euros however the car was in for repair at the time of our arrival so we just used public transport to which cost us 22 euros that was a train to central station and then a taxi from there to the apartment.

On arrival we were taken to the 1st floor studio apartment after climbing up some steep stairs.  There we shown the large open plan studio which had all of the features you would expect from a high end apartment including coffee machine, mini bar with complementary drinks, adjustable bed, under floor heating in the bathroom, steam/ shower room and overall high decorative standard.  The suite also had a Juliet window which was a lovely touch and great to just sit looking over the canal watching the world go by.  

Location wise from what we have seen and read I don’t think you could ask for a better area to be situated.  The Jordan district is truly beautiful! Both my wife and I spent a lot of time visiting this area and its number of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops.  Its completely different to the tourist trap of dam square, the right light district and central station which we visited but found ourselves getting pulled back to the Jordan area as everything was so much nicer.  A few food places we visited and were impressed with that were local we: MAX Amsterdam, Winkel 43, Bord’Eau, Boca’s and Bussia all we would recommend although some were pricey.

Overall would recommend the Royal Canal Suite. It is in a great location with easy access to the main areas with good transports links using the canals or trams.  Only point to raise was there are residents living in the apartment above so expect to hear some noise from above but it certainly wasn’t an issue when we were there.

Fantastic stay

My husband and I have just returned from 4 nights at The Royal Canal Suite. It was so perfect we didn't want to leave. We booked the apartment at short notice, literally the night before we arrived in Amsterdam, as we were struggling to find a hotel we were happy with. Everything seemed overpriced. The Royal Canal Suite seemed to offer a lot more value for money and the owner Ria responded to our emails almost immediately- we were very impressed. We were offered the option of being picked up from the airport for 30 euros which turned out to be very helpful. The apartment is located in the Jordaan area of Amsterdam, on a side street with a canal which leads to the Prinsengracht, one of the main canals. There are lots of boutique shops, cafes and markets nearby. It's a lovely area to stay in and much nicer than the central station area. We walked everywhere because walking along the canals was lovely and everywhere we wanted to go was within walking distance. There is plenty of public transport options if that is what you want though. 

The apartment itself is great. It's on the first floor so there's a flight of stairs which is fairly steep- this is typical of Amsterdam. It's a studio apartment so it's one big room with a separate bathroom. The room has lots of seating options which we appreciated. There's a sofa, seats by the window which has balcony doors you can open, and a seating bar in the kitchen area. The kitchen has everything you need including a mini fridge with complimentary drinks (prosecco, beer, water, milk) and snacks (chocolates, nuts, mints). The bed is comfortable and there's interesting artwork on the walls. There are lots of lighting options so you can create different atmospheres depending on your mood, and the apartment is full of books and ornaments. The décor is neutral and very relaxing. The bathroom is amazing. It's massive, has green marble tiling and interesting light fixtures. There is a deep soaking bathtub big enough for two and a walk in steam/shower. There are plenty of towels, bathrobes, toiletries, hairdryer etc.

Hopefully we will be returning to Amsterdam and when we do, we wouldn't stay anywhere else. It was very different from staying in a hotel. We bought bread and cheese from local shops for dinner and spent evenings watching the world go by from the balcony. It felt like living in Amsterdam rather than visiting as a tourist. We would definitely recommend The Royal Canal Suite.

Absolutely perfect- wouldn't stay anywhere else in Amsterdam

Royal Canal Suite is the most stylish and romantic place I've stayed in Amsterdam (having sampled a good dozen of hotels in the city).  The owner, Ria, is a charming host, and has designed this apartment meticulously.  Everything from the paintings to the towel patterns have been chosen with great attention to aesthetics.  The bathroom is sublime - a huge bath tub and a sauna/steam shower, which is a luxury anywhere in Amsterdam.  The apartment is located a few minutes walk from the (over-touristy) center, in the artistic Jordaan area. Keep in mind that this is a self catering apartment not a hotel - so you will have to do little things like clean up the dishes and treat the place with care.  I would highly recommend the Suite for anyone who wants a memorable experience in Amsterdam!

Unforgettable!

I stayed in this hotel in February 2015 and my experience is definitely positive. The room we chose, spacious and with a view of the canals, was beautiful.

Beautiful room, great location for a romantic stay.

We stayed 3 days and 2 nights in the Royal Canal suite. The apartment on the first floor is big and nice, however, the neighbors upstairs are really noisy. If you can't stand the noise above your head think of the quiet balls! I'm very demanding on cleanliness and I find this look and lightness. Overall this apartment is nice and the owner is kind.

That's nice, but...

Me and my partner have stayed in Amsterdam several times and this is by far the nicest place we have ever stayed. On arrival drinks in the fridge and nuts mints etc.The couple who rent the suite out are lovely and friendly. The suite is clean and very tastefully decorated with amazing painting and furnishings and it is huge. The balcony is great to sit and relax and watch the world go by. Really enjoyed the steam shower room. The bed raises with a remote each side so it is super comfy. If you want to stay in a luxurious suite you will not be disappointed. We love Amsterdam and visit every year and now I have found the suite I wouldn't stay anywhere else. 10 mins stroll to the centre perfect location. We did not want to leave had the most amazing time.

Stunning and fantastic

Ideal location in the Jordaan district, romantic, spacious apartment, very good taste decoration, comfortable bed, warm and impeccable welcome of the host who is in the small care with his tenants and who provides good advice. One hiccup: the neighbors above are really very noisy....

Oh, my God!

Excellent apartments in the city center. The bathroom has all the necessary elements: from cotton sticks and shampoos to dresses and fairies.
