It is not to be denied that it is inexpensive. However, the place suffers from many discomforts: no staff, somewhat narrow rooms, degraded kitchen equipment and inadequate quantity (not at all), water from the shower which cannot be adjusted and is often cold, exaggerated living space, very little natural light, no sorting bags, and above all a large ventilation problem which causes the rooms to have a terrible humidity. However, there are a few positive points: two kitchen areas, oven and microwave, fast enough refrigerators, fresh and clean sanitary facilities, locker rooms at a time.

The Minimum

Located centrally in Bergen this hostel is a convenient option if you're on a budget. The beds, kitchen and restrooms have decent quality. Privacy and work atmosphere is nonexistent. Safety relies on trust and everyone remembering to keep the front door shut. Convenient if you're spending most of your day out.

There is no staff in this hostel where we get the code the day before and the information to know which dorm/bed is assigned to us. Why not, it actually allows us to pay not too much (compared to Norwegian prices of course) despite an ideal location, almost too ideal if you have a car elsewhere because it's not easy to park nearby... It's a shame that the concept of minimum service is pushed to have common parts reduced to a minimum, with a kitchen and toilets that are far too crowded at their respective peak hours, and the few places to sit that take a wave of fuss from the outside at the narrowest entrance/exit.

Excellent location, small rooms. And it seems to me little more than two bathrooms for the number of beds there are. Also to clarify that it is self-service, so in my experience one day I got tired of hiking, and my towel was not there. At 10 pm, there is no one who can solve the problem or give you another towel. Luckily I found one where the bedding is left to be washed, but it is not the best.

A good hostel to be purely self-service.

This hostel was deep-rooted. It had the worst living conditions possible: narrow, old, creepy beds (I was thin but I didn't have enough room), no ventilation, small rooms, no wet smell, no normal rosettes, low ceiling, small paid cabinets, a bumblebee lived in the kitchen, the hot water in the shower ran out quickly.

Better to sleep on the street.

When we arrived, we didn't know how to get to the apartment, we were suggested three different civic addresses and only after guessing the right one did we find the right room by entering two or three codes.

I definitely liked the cleanliness, the wifi accessibility and the location in the city centre...

On the other side though, the place felt a bit overcrowded gainst the space available...

Overall, I would recommend to stay there for up to two nights only.

A cosy but small hostel to spend a couple of nights in...

I booked in this hostel for a few days. The day before I arrived I received an e-mail informing me that there was no physical reception and that for any request I had to e-mail or text them. I contacted them asking to rent a towel the day before I arrived but nothing. I texted them when I arrived and still nothing. I had to resolve to buy one. Very disappointed with the dehumanization of the hostel which is the most youth hostel. Also a minimum service for a high price.

No customer relationship

The location is great. The check-in with the code is fine, but there's hardly ever anyone present for questions etc. Kitchen, bathroom and living room are quite small. Cleanliness leaves much to be desired.

Top location, the rest flop

The price and location is great!!! So you could go to other countries in Europe and get a much better hostel for your money. BUT this is Norway!! One of the most expensive countries in the world!
There are no workers at the hostel and it is 100% self service. Although, cleaners come in every morning.
It has a great atmosphere as you all end up looking after each other. Welcoming new arrivals etc.
I had a great time. But this had a lot to do with the people I met too!
