Perhaps it is one of the most characteristic hotels I have ever been to: meanwhile the location is exceptional, just above the Voringfossen Falls and then at the peak on a beautiful panorama over which the windows of our room gave our hotel is  vintage, furnished with a harmonious blend of furniture 60s and style pieces, with stairs in dark wood and in the parquet breakfast room polished in a mirror: nothing to see the modern but cold and impersonal comfort of many hotel chains the common environments besides being very nice were also very well maintained the room was not very large but still comfortable it was furnished with taste it was intimate, quiet, accommodated with a large and comfortable bed, apparently renovated recently in fact the small bathroom was having a clean and beautiful new toilet so we have almost nothing to do with the bathroom while we have the bathroom from the dining room but obviously we had a few guest rooms with the bathroom from the dining room

The atmosphere of other times, very suggestive

This is for the cafe only. The sole rude experience I have had in Norway. Terrible attitude from the serving staff, including charging for a hot chocolate that I never ordered. Then no apology, no credit card refund, just cash back. On the flip side, cakes were excellent. 

Avoid the cafe

Sleeping with the sound of the waterfall was beautiful... this hotel has something that no one else has, an absurd position! Being a family hotel and historic, it has a retro charm that I really liked; the rooms are spacious and simple and very cozy. The dinner (extra service) was very good and the breakfast was excellent.

A wonderful experience.

If you're looking for a charming stay, this is the place for you. The hotel is a bit dated but well maintained and this helps create a magical atmosphere. We stopped for one night on the journey between Oslo and Bergen. The chance to enjoy the waterfall without tourists is priceless. Good both dinner and breakfast.

It's magical!

Hotel with retro charm, interiors reminiscent of the Shining Hotel but in a positive key. Spacious room with a very comfortable bed and overlooking the beautiful Vøringfossen. Perfect location to enjoy the panoramic trail once the daytime meal is over. Unexpectedly excellent dinner but insufficient breakfast. Recommended for a different experience than usual.

That's great!

An incredible place, immersed in a wonderful landscape, in front of a waterfall unique in the world. Inside time seems to have stopped, especially the common areas are a museum of the hotel's centuries-old history, as well as the area.

It's a must-have.

As a historian, I can always enjoy when a hotel stays true to its 'original' state. Luckily, not all services date are still dated back to 1891. Our room was a bit outdated (or not as it stayed true to its originality). The room was good in its simplicity and still offers good comfort. The staff at the hotel was kind. 

What a magnificent view the hotel has over Vøringfossen and Måbødalen valley. The area is simply put: beautiful. It can get crowded by tourists though. 

If one needs a (creative) retreat, then the Fossli Hotel is the place to go! 

Time travelling to Edvard Grieg

Located in Voringsfossen at the top of Mabodalen, the Fossli Hotel, due to its proximity to the Mabodalen valley, offers fantastic views of the Voringfossen waterfall. It is a 3-star hotel built in the late 19th century with a 3-star rating. It provides Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, comfortable rooms with private toilet, restaurant, bar, cafeteria, library and souvenir shop. There is also a golf course a few kilometres from the hotel.

Priority location

Coffee awful. We were on an excursion to the waterfall and you got a free coffee as part of the package. You’d have thought they could muster up a decent coffee but it was like warm and bitter. Also the decor was dirty and  dated. No baby change in the male toilets. Seem to be stuck in the dark ages this place. I’d pass on the experience even if offered a free coffee.

A very old hotel, but with a special charm. Somehow you feel like you've been transported back many years. Old furniture, pictures and other, really nice furnishings. The room was very nice, but it was also equipped with old furniture, and you could sleep really well. During the day many people were traveling in the outdoor area, which was due to the waterfall, which is now better to reach as part of the tourist initiative of the country.
