Three beautiful rooms and three beautiful rooms recommended for a nice evening, calm and relaxing, and full service accompanied by staff.

This is a great hotel.

The Dyreparken Hotel is family friendly, located 13km from Kristiansand and belongs to a zoo & fantasy park for kids. The hotel was built in 2001 and offers 51 double rooms & 107 four-bed rooms over 4 floors. The hotel is decorated with African safari items. You need a car to reach the hotel. Service is friendly.

Our room was small, modestly decorated and furnished, with an acceptable twin-bed. The tiny separate bathroom had washbasin, toilet and shower. Free Wi-Fi Internet. Window can be opened. All was clean.

In the ‘Safari’ restaurant an OK buffet breakfast is served: eggs, cold cuts & cheeses, bread & toast, cereals, fruit, milk & yoghurts, fruit juices & preserves, rolls & croissants, vegan & gluten free Items, water, tea & coffee.

The Dyreparken hotel is fine when you fancy a stay with kids at a fantasy park and when you have a car. Otherwise, you find better options in Kristiansand.

For staying with kids at the fantasy park

The hotel essentially serves the adjacent theme park, so perhaps expecting it to meet the needs of a business traveller is asking too much. However...
Check in was friendly, if rather slow, and I was asked to pay in advance for my three days of parking, which I was happy to do but required a receipt so I could reclaim it. That wasn't possible, I was promised one would be available on checkout. 
Room was OK, but no more; a not very large space was further constrained by a pair of unfolded, made-up bunk beds. Blackout was just about OK, bed was acceptable, as was the shower (though no more than "acceptable" in any of those cases). 
Leaving very early for a flight on the  morning of checkout, I asked for my bill the night before (room was pre-paid, but there was the parking...). No, not possible, but "we will leave a note so when you actually checkout it will be ready". Fast forward to 05:00 and, of course, no bill and the guy had no idea how to generate it - "don't worry, we'll email it to you". they didn't, of course, so I am now out of pocket for three days of expensive Norwegian parking. 
Would I go back? Definitely not

Small room, no desk or table, can't get a receipt

The room was dirty, the bed has not been re-covered at check-in. The floor was not cleaned, full of dog hairs. The room was very tiny. Breakfast was below average and the staff not very helpful. Booking a table was complicated and not possible at the reception.

Dirty room

We had a room with double bed and an extra bed for one of our kids. The room was tiny and had no place four our luggage leaving no room for our feets inside the room. You would probably say: not going to stay there much as most of the time we would be inside the park, but for our case we needed a mid day break, and the park closed at 8pm so we got a lot of time at the room. The bathroom is outdated and water flooded all over the floor when taking a shower. They did not change our towels "due to covid..." And "due to covid..." We also had to book a time for breakfast ahead of time. The room price is stiff, but if the price had reflected the standard it would been great. Nice staff, nice and clean, good food, great to be this close to the park. Barely Recommended Hotel

Tight space at high price

We had a nice stay in Dyreparken Hotel. Room was nice and comfortable. The only thing we didnt like much are the food in the Dyreparken Hotel restaurant. They have this A la carte food and only few choices are there. On our first day there, I ordered a chicken but its not thoroughly cook,it still has blood on it. The good thing is they fixed it and I got a new meal with the same order. But overall,our stay are fantastic.We enjoyed much there.

Summer vacation 2021

Family rooms not of family size. Breakfast was a nightmare. Waited 50 min at table after waiting in line for 20 min. Terrible experience!

On the positive side, receptionist staff are friendly and service minded. Hotel has excellent location for visits in dyreparken. 

If you drop the breakfast you may even visit dyreparken before lunch.

We had an amazing experience. I will definitely be back. We were disappointed that the breakfast wasn't a buffet style breakfast. That was the only disappointment because I wanted an extra plate of food😀. Overall a wonderful experience. That's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.. The breakfast.

Dyreparken opplevelse

I stayed there one night with two kids under the age of five and my husband. The room was so small for four people plus bags. We did not have any place to walk in the room, just stumbled round the beds and the bags. The room was very warm, and we asked the reception if it was possible to turn down the heat, but we where told it was one system for the whole hotel. The room had thin walls. When we but our kids to bed around 19, they woke up so many times until it was quiet around midnight. Then we became the people who made a lot of noice, since our youngest child had a hard time sleeping after been woken up so many times. But we don't blame the hotel for that, i Just wish people was a little aware they where staying a place with small children going to beed before midnight. 

The room was clean and we felt safe even thou there is an pandemic going on. 
The restaurant with the restrictions had a poor menu and the food was average. 

Next time going to Dyreparken we will choose to stay in Abra Havn with 2 bedrooms.

Small rooms and warm

the room is too small for a family trip (3 people) and has no place to accommodate the luggage and no wardrobe. Due to the covid situation the indoor area for kids is closed and they dont offer any outdoor area. the park is vary close but they open at 7:30 with a loud music.
