It's just the situation. There's hardly any alternative in the area. The room wasn't the hit. Breakfast was fine. Except for us, there were quite a few guests at the hotel. We also ate dinner there. The food was fine, just very expensive, like everything else in Norway. In the big dining room, you seemed to lose something.

The hotel's in good shape.

My wife and I were  traveling through Norway when an acquaintance suggested that we stay at this hotel. We had no expectations,however it was one of the nicest hotels we stayed at while traveling throughout Scandinavia .We had a spectacular view of the fjord  and adjacent marina right outside of our window. The hotel staff is exceptional, food was great and there was a certain charm to this hotel that is hard to find elsewhere in Norway. There is something very  special going on here that is hard to put into words.As I sat on my deck overlooking the fjord I could see salmon jumping  and a there was a  multitude of seabirds which made my stay all that much special. PK, the hotel general manager could not have have done more for us. There is much to do activity wise near  the hotel and if you enjoy hiking,kayaking,fishing, nature, exploring and adventure this is most definitely a place to stay .
Rooms are very comfortable,clean and fresh.Staff was vey friendly and well trained.
I highly recommend and cannot wait to return!

Charming gem of a hotel on the Fjord

We had a burger and a reindeer (yes, Rudolph) steak, and it was quite good and very much worth the price. 
And a very nice and helpful staff. 
Also, enjoy the view of the wonderful mountains and the fjord from the window

Actually pretty good dinner

We stayed one night in this hotel, as an overnight stay for a longer distance drive from west to east in Norway. Very nice and efficient check-in. The room was clean and practical, with a nice view of the fjord. Breakfast was somewhat limited, maybe some scrambled eggs and fried eggs could have been included. Great location by the harbor, some noise from a boat in the evening, but we talked to the boat people and put an end to the noise. Very nice decorations with flowers in several places in the hotel. We highly recommend the place!

Nice staff, good beds

We visited Ryfylke Fjordhotel in Sand in June 2020, and I have to say it was the first and last visit to that hotel. We did not live in the hotel, but went to the restaurant to have some food.
It was around 4 PM, but there was no food what so ever to buy. Nothing at all before 6 PM. We came back at 7 PM, and was placed at a table in the restaurant. The chairs were really not good at all, and the tables was more what you would expect in a cheap cafeteria.
We go a Menu - and it contained 1 fish dinner and 2 meat dishes. They also did have the "Offer of the day" - which was Spare Ribs, with a waffle as dessert if you did choose "2 dishes". Since we didn't feel like paying 100 NOK for a waffle (!), we just ordered the Spare Ribs, which we got after something like 10 minutes.  Possibly they had too much to do, since it was 5 other people in the restaurant when we ordered.
The Spare Ribs was served with something they called "chips" - really thin sticks that was soft, not fried enough at all, and completely tasteless. The Spare Ribs themselves were tasteless as well - and the only thing that was not completely ruined was the salad.
Beer was 94 NOK for 0,4 liter.
All in all - I don't think any of us will ever visit that restaurant at all. After all, what you serve should have some relation to the price charged - and this was snack-bar food for restaurant prices. But I guess a snack-bar would serve far better chips.

Terrible food, bad service and high prices...

The hotel is urgently being renovated, the carpet in the hall alone makes no good guess... the room was old-fashioned and well-occupied, the carpet was worn out and modest, the bathroom was dirty, above all the amateurs... the mattress in the bed a disaster, squeezing and is about to fall apart! Wlan works as well as ever! Breakfast is lean and nothing special, not even salmon... good location, but the place is like dead, the view from the room was nice, dinner from the buffet was not bad.... lack of alternatives in the surrounding area you can book it for a night!

In the years that have passed...

We had Sunday dinner in the hotel. The food was very good. The location is beautiful with the nice view to the marina and the mountains. The atmosphere is relaxed and you feel at home. The waiters are attentive and smiling. Highly recommendable.

Very good food

I stayed here for 3 nights whilst working on a project in the area. The dinner was included in the company deal, and consisted of the hotel's choice of starters and main course. 

The views from the restaurant are stunning. The area itself is quiet and nice.

Beautiful location

We stayed at this hotel because it was halfway between Odda and Stavanger. It has free parking. The very large and spacious room boasted of a very nice view of the porch.

Good value for money

We don't have many places to stay in the area. In retrospect, we wonder why we even made the drop-off... To the hotel: the hotel is old and has been renovated here and there, but not really to make you feel comfortable. The size of the rooms is okay, but the carpet is so messed up that it's virtually gone. The furniture is old and cuddly. We had a pizza for two people at the hotel at night because we thought the price was affordable. 195- NOK. Those on TK-Pizza might feel good about it. For us it was just quieter. Breakfast is below the Norwegian average. But you can find something pleasant now that it wasn't so delicious. If you don't drive in hotels in Urusan, we wouldn't be happier here.
