We were very dissappointed with our stay at Jo's place!

As we got the rooms one of them was still dirty. Used towels, full trashbins, disgusting! Asking for fresh towels they smelled so bad, that we didn't use them. 

The breakfast costs 2 dollars, what is about 8 soles. For this money you can get very good breakfast in Peru! But not at Jo's Place. We got only one small pancake per person. The bread was so hard, we almost never saw a bread this hard before. This bread wasn't possible to eat. We begged a bit that we are very hungry so we got one more pancake. If we asked, they also made scrumbbled eggs for us. There was coffe and tea, but no juice, which is very untipical for Peru. At the first day they offered a few bananas at the second day no fruits at all. The tempo of producing eggs and pancakes was very slow and the people who made the food were not very welcoming. 

The hostel also offers tours to different lakes. But the person who sits in the hostel is almost never there or if he is there, he doesn't seem to have a cloue about anything. Almost about every question we had, he had to call another person, also about topics that belong to the hostel.

The garden was nice but the sitting furniture were almost all damaged. 

We are used to the standard of cheap hostels in Peru and it is totally ok for us if a accomdation is easy, but this hostel is really too bad in it's service and organisation. 

We don't recommend this hostel!

Very bad service!

The rooms overlook a small garden, they are clean and well equipped: the casa matrimonial has its own toilet. The reception is great and professional, guides are present to organize the treks.

A welcoming hostel

Awesome place with garden and cosy kitchen. Most friendly staff ever met and delicious breakfast. Very cheap price. Definitely recommend this place! Thanks for the care and friendly welcoming faces :)

This place could be easily rated higher only if owners would care a bit more. It is quite dirty and there no toilet paper and soap in the bathrooms!!! I asked the owners to put it several times and they always ignored me! They said they do not want to put toilet paper coz guest steal it lol. I have never heard anything more stupid.

Another bad thing about this place is that the bathrooms and showers are outside so you will be freezer your ass off while showering and this was a very unpleasant experience. You can easily get sick like this!

Apart from that, they told me that if I want to use kitchen I need to buy my own matches or lighter as well as dishwashing detergent because all the tourist "use it up too fast" wtf?! Isn't it a standard to provide that? There was not even salt nor sugar, and when I asked politely for salt to put on my scrambled eggs they got upset with me and behaved as if they were making me a huge favor! 

They never clean the kitchen and the towels were so disgusting as if they didn't wash them in a year. 
They have very low hygiene standards and  I  recommend you to avoid this place at all price. I'm sure you can find something better, it can't get any worse than this.

Basic place and ignorant owners

What a welcome!!! Juventino is really lovely, you feel at home right away!!! Very clean rooms, hot water with pressure, small full dej. Quality excursion from the hotel!

Nice hostel with patio, nice and tidy staff, a little limited kitchen and mattresses of tired bedrooms that says.

Jo's Place is located 10 minutes' walk from the center of Huaraz. It's a very quiet hostel with a nice and very nice garden. Modern bathrooms and showers with really hot water. Kitchen equipped with all the cooking materials. Victoria, the owner, is a wonderful person, who leaves camping for backpackers traveling with their tents. It's also suitable for those traveling in groups, there are all kinds of rooms and a spacious dining room to meet and have a good time. For those traveling as a couple in a small cabin with private bathroom and maternal bed. Cyclists and motorcyclists have a place to park their vehicles. All for a very reasonable price and place to rest after trekking and to learn about new economics from all over the world... Recommended for all kinds of bikers, bikers, tourists, and all kinds of people!

Very nice place, Buena onda, good energy, magnificent garden...

Jo's place is a relaxed place to hang out with space for tents, tubs to hand wash clothes, lines for drying and hot water most of the time. Vicky is helpful and speaks English if your Spanish isn't so good. It's a bit further out of the middle of town, about a 7-10 minute walk but there are still small convenience shops and a bakeries close by.

This is a place for climbers and people who rise early. Far out of town, rooms were a bit run down. Shared bathrooms rarely had toilet paper. Bathrooms and showers were basically outside so you were cold the whole time. The whole outside common area is just filled with tents and people. You wanted to spend as little time as you could there.

Only for hardcore hikers, don't go for amenities

Quiet hostel, comfy rooms. Not much in the way of communal areas and not much atmosphere. Staff are rarely around. The Lonely Planet lists a free breakfast which is no where in evidence - their listing is very out of date.
