This hotel probably used to be nice, but the rooms are not OK for today's standards. I asked to see three different rooms, they were all the same. It seems that they haven't been doing any maintenance in the last years. Staff on the other hand is very friendly and food is good at the restaurant. The beach is not good for sunbathing, at least after you have seen other beaches in the Philippines...

Old hotel, definitely needs a renovation

We stayed here following a long bus journey from Abra d ilog ready to catch the coron ferry.  

Upon arrival it was chaotic, the place is full of mosquitos, rooms were filthy and v noisy aircon. 

Karaoke till gone midnight then started again at 6am!!  Dont bank on getting much sleep.

The Sikatuna Beach Hotel has always been one of our favorite places to stay at in San Jose. It is close to the airport and right on the beach and the staff are friendly and helpful. This last trip I stayed in one of the third floor rooms above the reception area. The room is very small and quite dated with some loose floor tiles. The room inspite of being a double room is just big enough for a solo traveler. The a/c was cool and the room pretty quiet which was great because just one floor down is a function room but the noise didn’t reach the room for the most part. The WiFi is usually pretty good but this trip it was not good at all, but from what I found out this was throughout the whole town of San Jose because of provider network problems and not just at the hotel. Overall I would recommend staying at the Sikatuna. It is value for money and a great place to stay and eat. Try the Beef Tapa breakfast, it’s the best we’ve eaten anywhere! 

Good Stay

Where to begin. We stayed here following a 9 hour journey from Sabang with the aim to get the ferry across to Coron the following day. The room was in the region of 1700 pesos so not hugely cheap in the Philippines. The bed was comfortable, the room cool but the shower leaked resulting in a constant drip drip drip the whole night long. So far, not too bad. We ate in the restaurant as there wasn't much around. What a mistake this proved to be. The restaurant staff couldn't care less. So much so that I got the menu from, ordered at and finally paid at reception as they were the only people who could be bothered to speak to us. The food, when it arrived was hideous. Truely awful. Huge chunks of bone and gristle hiding in a bisto like gravy, with cold rice. It was also still covered in clingfilm from it's escape from the microwave. Having spent almost 5 months in Asia at this point I thought we'd seen it all but this place set a new low. Once we'd finished pushing chunks of skin around our plates for a while we grew bored and tried to feed it to the cats that were prowling around the restaurant. They also wouldn't eat it. Do not go here. Do not stay here. Do not eat here.

Just no... 

This is not the first time I've stayed at the Sikatuna, but each time I stay here, the hotel gets a little older, a little less maintained and a little grottier. We always book one of the two rooms with a balcony and the view is, as always magnificent. The food is still good, honest fare and the staff, although very young, do try hard. The rooms however continue to deteriorate. When we arrived 1/ The foyer light did not work 2/ The bedside light did not work 3/ The second bedside light had no bulb in it. 3/ The aircon did not immediately work. 4/ There were no towels in the bathroom. Add to this, the deterioration of the general facilities and there is no doubt this old lady has seen better days. The only plus was finally they have installed a TV that is viewable, rather than the tiny box high up on the wall that you couldn't even see, before. Look, it's an institution in San Jose, but really it needs a total makeover. My impression is their main focus is functions, with guests coming a distant second.

An Old Lady Aging Ungracefully

Sikatuna Beach Hotel is 3minutes away from thw airport and they provide an airport transfer for free. It is situated at the center, and near the market. It has a beach front where you can swim. Room is at an average but is clean. What we love about the hotel is their great food at an affordable price. Staff are also very kind and accommodating.

Home in San Jose

Ive been for a couple of days in San Jose on my way to Coron, looking for hotels in the are I realized that theres no so many around.. found Sikatuna and reading some bad comments.. bad I didnt have a choice.
Since the first moment in the hotel, the staff were very helpful, I arrived a day before my booking, and they manage to give me a room for that day.. 
The hotel looks quite old, but rooms (specially the ones in the garden wich I reccomend) are in good conditions, tv with lots of channels, aircon and hot shower.
the common areas are big like the dinning area, wifi works soso but c’mon! we are in holidays! 
Food was very cheap and generous.. with many delicious filipino recipes.. 
theres not too much to do in the town so Sikatuna are in perfect place close to Aroma beach, quiet and perfect for walking in sunset time, also some restaurants and bars 10 minutes walking from the hotel

Friendly staff and awesome food

The worst hotels in Mindoro in 2016! Noisy, unloved staff, microwave heated meals! the rooms look like prison rooms: no decoratio, no painting

A place to run away!!!!!!!

A very nice, high-class hotel on the outskirts of the busy San José. And very close to the market by the beach. Beautiful rooms, good restaurant. Ideal for waiting for the boat to Coron and, if it doesn't arrive... to continue the trip from Sablayan to Roxas (ferry to Boracay). Curious Mindoro, not so far from Manila, yet not very visited. But everywhere, smiles, spontaneous conversations and people willing to help.
