Probably the worst guest house I have ever stayed at, people sleeping everywhere in the home, under the stairs etc. Was not at all clean, didn’t feel safe leaving my belongings anywhere even with a lock. You absolutely pay for what you get, the cheap price attracts all kinds of people. It’s not in a bad area but outside of this there is nothing going for this. 

Worst 

This place is a little bit hard to find and it is very basic but good value for money.The location is close to shops and transport options. The staff really made this place for me, they welcomed me and showed me around and were very lovely. Unfortunately I found the people at the hostel to be uninviting and unfriendly but this is not the fault of the hostel, this place is great for when you're just passing through and the free pancakes for breakfast are great.

lovely staff but not much atmosphere

Hey Fellas is super local, you feel like you're half in a hostel and half a homestay. But the staff are super friendly and accommodating. There was free drinking water, showers and decent bunk beds with fans; it ticked all the boxes for us!
We missed the free breakfast the next day, but the rave reviews say it's great!
The only problem was finding the location - some signs would be really helpful because it's quite hidden! 
But thanks for a friendly stay

Budget but friendly :)

Good location - walking distance to a night food market and a really very nice shopping centre (called Ayala). It's got a lovely courtyard in the centre, good for chilling out with wifi and a coffee, or having something to eat other than barbecue and/or rice and mystery liquid. There's also an amazing t-shirt shop in there called Artwork, they sell so many wonderfully bizarre tops, it's fantastic (I'll attach a picture of a personal fave for you).

Good wifi, managed to download the whole final season of Pretty Little Liars. What a weight off my mind that I will finally be able to unravel the convolution that is this labyrinthine show.

The pancake man is great, very entertaining and delicious (if sickly) complimentary pancakes. Fantastic singing voice too. Most of the other staff were lovely as well, particularly the women.

Provides free water. There's also a kitchen you can use if you so desire.

Not much of an initial welcome; the guy that 'greeted' us, didn't actually greet us, and it was pretty awkward all round.

It's down a little, somewhat dodgy looking alleyway, which is fine (we arrived in an Uber), but could be a little confusing first time round if you're on foot.

If you don't book online it's slightly cheaper, however you also run the risk of it being full because it does get quite busy.

A good, cheap place to stay

For the price of 300php you get an aircon room, towel and yummy breakfast. Not to mention its very close to Ayala Mall, main road and South Bus terminal and pier. In the room theres only maximum of 4 beds, in normal hostels its 6-10 people. Its also very easy to talk to other people here. Rufela, is very welcoming if you need local tips she will help you. Her cousin is also a very good cook. Ive made really good friends from this hostel and I for the price Im paying I would say its worth the money. The wifi is very good too!

Real Hostel Experience

Hey Fellas is a fairly short Uber trip from the pier where you can catch the ferry to Bohol, and close to a Jollibee for anyone who's peckish late at night. The hostel is really just a large converted apartment, and felt a bit like a student house. 

The rooms were a reasonable size and the beds OK. The wifi is the best I had anywhere in the Philippines, really fantastic! The bathroom situation is poor - one tiny, filthy toilet up by the dorms which doesn't flush, and one full bathroom with a shower down next to the kitchen... with numerous air vents between the two, so everyone in the common area can hear what you're doing.

The staff are pleasant and the free breakfast of American pancakes and tea/coffee really yummy, a nice touch. 

Very average experience, all things considered. Recommended for short stays.

Not bad

The owner is helpful and friendly
The location is almost near and reachable
Breakfast with homemade pancakes (yummy!)
Rooms are spacious and basic one
Only one shower but by the time I was there it was not that busy;
The toilet available upstairs is small and the only mirror available can't be seeing properly
To get to top bed is really difficult as I found the stairs very moving and insecure 

Fellas is friendly 

I've had 6 great days in the guesthouse. Although it's more like a homestay:) you cook, laugh and spend a lot of time with the owner, her cousin who works there and all her friends who come by every day and they're all very funny and always invite you to their entertainment! tip: on the back aircon room insist that's the best:)
