It's a transit hotel. There's a problem - check in only until 22:00. Somewhere around 21:00 they texted that after an hour the reception closes. We were in line at the border, asked to come up with something so we could get to the hotel. We went to the meeting, left the key. The room is very messed up. Holes in the towels. Tomorrow for an extra fee (20.00 PLN) is quite good.

It's a really messed up hotel.

Located right on the former Reichsstraße 1, this hotel in the former Frauenburg is a perfect stop on a motorcycle tour to Königsberg: you can even rent a lockable garage for the bikes! The furnishings of the rooms are a bit rustic, but perfect for people on a tour of exploration.

Ideal for motorcyclists

The hotel is located in a historic building in the central part of the city, close to the cathedral mountain. The rooms have high ceilings, a lot of daylight. From the window there is a great view of the narrow streets of the city.

A cozy historic hotel

I would like to clarify: we did not rest in the apartments in the main building, but in the rooms next to the house. Room 14. I liked the mattresses on the bed. A large shower cabin. Parking under the windows. A very nice town with nice people and architecture.

The important thing is to stay out of the compound.

My wife and I reserved a room at the Rheticus in March based largely on the "charm" which the Rough Guide said it had. When we arrived, however, we were told there was a wedding party, and were led to an adjacent building behind the main hotel. The rooms there are small and dark and have the charm, I would say, of a Motel Six. So we looked around town and eventually stayed at the Kopernicus, which was a big improvement (see my review of it).

When we went to check out the next morning, we were told we were obligated to pay for the breakfast we had ordered the day before (prior to seeing our room in the annex). Rather than fight that, we went ahead and paid and ate it, though in fact there was nothing in the breakfast that had been prepared in advance or would have been wasted if we had not been eaten there. At breakfast we were joined by six (counting only those we slew) mosquitoes. The breakfast itself was edible but not much beyond that, whereas the spread at the Kopernicus was over the top.

We never did see a room in the main hotel, to gauge its "charm", but I would say hands-down the Kopernicus is the better choice.
