This place is really great and worth visiting! The staff was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was fantastic. We loved their breakfast, the variety of food was big, everything was fresh and they even produce jam from their own fruits. The rooms were big with high ceilings and they were well equipped. They were  also cleaned every day. Location is great, everything is in a walking distance. The dining room has great atmosphere and beautiful fireplace. We have been here four times and really enjoyed every visit and  we surely return again next year!

Cozy lovely place

This is a high-standard cosy hotel / guesthouse, located at the heart (main square) of adorable small town Piwniczna, surrounded by mountains with great hiking and skiing routes. Looking at the town from your balcony view, one can feel like back in time when things were simplier, tastier and gentlier than today - a great place for a retreat for the body and soul. Rooms are modern, clean and comfotable and the food is just fabulous! (just try the grandma's chop or traditional highlanders' sauerkraut soup and your taste buds will explode) You can have a crib in the room when you travel with kids, too. Magda, the owner, created this place with great taste and heart, and thanks to her it's truly a gem amidst mountains. I can earnestly recommend it.

Under Kasztanami is a guest house with bar and restaurant. At the bottom there is a cozy bar with large-screen TV where you can watch sports events. On the first floor there is a nicely furnished restaurant and guest room on the upper floor. The B & B can be reached very easily because it is on the market of the town of Piwniczna Zdrój. So bypass the market and go down the stairs to the river Poprad. Next to the train station. The bus stop is located a few meters away. Besides there is a tax, the market is also ATM. This is important because the rents do not allow credit cards. The staff are very relaxed, friendly guests.

In the center of the city

The location of this hotel is perfect if you want to go hiking in spring-summer-autumn and a little far, but convenient if you wish to go skiing in winter.  I have only gone here in autumn.

Location -- it's right on the town square (Rynek) in Piwniczna.  From Kraków, you take a train to Nowy Sącz and from Nowy Sącz bus station (far from the train station), take a bus to Piwniczna (there was a train until the floods in Mar 2010 affected it, they may restart in 2011.

Service - this is a friendly, family run noclegi.  Do not expect a great 'hotel' posh experience, but the staff are friendly and accomodating -- you want something not on the menu or want breakfast earlier/later, no problem!  They have 5 rooms and 1 housekeeping staff and the rooms are only cleaned during your stay when you want them -- I prefer this to having a maid going through my things daily!

The rooms overlooking the square can be noisy at nights and early in the morning and there are rooms looking over the back.  The view is not very nice, but the rooms themselves are clean, comfortable and the bathrooms are clean, which is important to me and my wife.

The value for money is incredible.  The food is incredibly cheap and good, though góral, i.e. mountain style, heavy on meat and cheese.

From the hotel you can take taxis to Łomnica or Kosarzyska or other places or you have 7 different hiking routes that start around the town.
