We spent a full week at this beautiful pension in the heart of Sopot. The room was comfortable, though it would have benefited from a small fridge. Tea making facilities were available via a kettle, however; the milk quickly curdled in the heat, hence the need for a fridge. We could have also benefited from a mini bar if it was made available. Breakfasts were beautifully cooked, simple but extremely tasty and filling. You had the choice of cooked breakfast served with Polish ham and cheese. The food in the restaurant was generally excellent, though I did not think the beef bourguignon was very good. The key to this dish is tender meat slowly cooked. In this instance the meat was tough and inedible which was disappointing. I would suggest the chef look up the recipe for this classic French dish, because his version was nothing of the sort. That apart our stay was brilliant. The staff were kind and helpful and the young Polish ladies at the reception, were kind, funny and always willing to help. We will be back next year all being well. I would thoroughly recommend this beautiful hotel/inn.

Lovely place to stay.

Karczma Irena is a wonderful place, straight out of Middle Earth! It looks like the ideal Hobbit inn, with low ceilings, dark wood and tables you could sword fight on. The atmosphere is matched by the memorable food, especially the duck, the golonka and the zander (a type of Baltic fish). But most notable were the pierogies and the pysy (spelling?), which are delicious dumplings with various fillings. Our host was convivial and the vodka flowed freely! At the end of the meal, our host brought over a glass of 140 proof slivovitz which we passed around the table (no one dared drink the whole thing!). All in all, it was very typical Polish food, done perfectly, with huge portions, at reasonable prices and served with typical impeccable Polish hospitality!

A truly Hobbit experience!

The boarding house demands prices like good middle-class hotels. But unfortunately it has a level like a very bad boarding house. The only thing that was good was the breakfast and the W-Lan. Otherwise, in 9 days the towels were changed twice in the accommodation. The first time they took extra private items with them, which only reappeared after 5 days due to constant demand. There was no cleaning, so the garbage piled up. The window lacked a window, so it moved into the room in a colder room. The room was very small. One of the beds was in a poorly accessible niche. The doors were very badly locked, even the closet in the room is extremely primitive. This TV program is not worth 40 €/day. This boarding house is not worth 80 €/day, and the room is not worth 70 €/day, not 80 €/day.

Very poor price/performance ratio

Here, the stay reminds me of the words of Nino Ferrer, Le Sud. The place is really sealed in all its details, it is peaceful and charming. A special atmosphere bathed in a warm light from light strands infiltrating everywhere through the many beautiful windows and windows of the centenary building. Here the weather lasts slowly, you feel the sweetness of living. In addition, the reception staff is sincerely friendly and authentic. In addition, the situation is ideal, the breakfast is good and especially the carnotzet (Karczma) in the basement is a sweet, tasty and fresh dish made of Polish dishes as rarely found in our days. Come on a stay, you will experience as much local or international as you can in a sweet and tasty acoustic establishment as you do in a sweet and tasty experience of living in a safe place.

Found this hotel and was met by Dorothy the waitress who was very helpful and genuine.the food was hot and excellent and I liked the old wooden tables and pictures .it was a good atmosphere and the prices were very fair

Looking for a place to eat

We stayed four nights in Pensjonat Irena, and it was really great time. The room we had was spacious, clean and tidy with comfortable double bed. There was veranda in the room with nice view. Bathroom was super clean and fresh. Staff was friendly and helpfull. Location is another reason why it is worth to stay in Irena - very close to the beach, railway station and main street of Sopot (Monte Cassino) but at the same time it is quiet part of Sopot. Best of all just below - in the basements of the building there is Karczma Irena - restaurant with polish cuisine, best in the town! We highly recomend that unique place!

great atmosphere in the heart of Sopot

I give the pensjonat overall an average score. The woman in the reception was friendly enough, the rooms clean and okay. 

The cozy restaurant in the basement/downstairs was however an absolutely hidden gem. It was pure luck to find it, and if you should have one meal in Sopot - this is the place. Rustic place, with friendly English speaking people, awesome food in a great atmosphere!! I give the restaurant top score, due to the above (Don't expect fancyness, but honest good food and dessert)

I would like to give it a total average of 3,5 - but you can sleep elsewhere and eat here to get higher on the total package!

The pensjonat is okay for the budget traveller, but the food downstairs is absolutely great!!

Moderate cleanliness. Families are also offered some ridiculously small rooms. Once the room service is forgotten, no one is responsible. Overall, pretty down, you should go to a proper boarding house.
