I stay regularly. I like the location. The hostel itself is a large apartment, with 3 rooms with plenty of space, but we always preferred a separate 2-room room. It's true, the bathroom is still common. But it's not tense. Cleaning is done. I can't say that it's perfectly clean: cleanliness depends largely on the guests. The drawbacks are that you'll be offered a pair of disposable slippers. Ask for new ones. And the toilet seat belt isn't always available.

It's convenient enough.

It was lucky that I had used a taxi to get there. There was no evidence of the Seasons Hostel to be found when I arrived. The driver got out and asked around. Eventually we found an anonymous brown door with a doorbell, and a one-inch square piece of paper reading “Seasons”. We pushed the doorbell and a buzzer sounded, releasing the electronic lock. 

Once inside the building there was no indication on which of the three floors (no lift) “Seasons” could be found. I rang the doorbell on the first door I found. A gruff female voice yelled something in Russian through the intercom. I pushed the bell again. She yelled something else. I pushed the bell again. The door burst open. I said “Seasons?” to the face-full of food that greeted me. Through bits of flying dinner she yelled something else and pointed upwards. She does not seem to have a good working relationship with “Seasons”. 

I staggered up the stairs to the next level, and banged on a door. (The dangling wires above the doorbell told their own story.) No reaction. I tried the door – it was locked. I staggered up to the next level and was greeted by two, what looked like, armoured doors. No reaction was forthcoming from either of the doorbells there. Just then, I heard voices below. I descended in time to see two women entering the second door I had tried. 

I staggered back down with my bags and gingerly tried the door. It opened. The two women were in a hallway, removing their shoes. “Seasons?” I enquired. “Da” they replied, looking at me as if I was mad. I made my way in through dozens of discarded shoes and was confronted by a desk, behind which was a dishevelled shoe-less young hippy in black t-shirt and shorts.
This is the “Seasons” reception, on the edge of a lounge, full of students in various stages of dress, sprawled on couches. A BOOKING.COM placard pronounces their 9.2 rating. I announced myself. The hippy looked startled and started rummaging through a box-file to find my reservation. “Minute” he said when he found it, and bounded into an adjoining room.

This, apparently was my room. It was occupied. After five minutes he had removed all the belongings that were in there, and, utilising a step-ladder, retrieved a pile of clean linen from a cupboard. I was shown in. Using the clean bedding I made my own bed. This place made the Nevsky Grand in St Petersburg look like a palace, and it was the same price!

There was Soviet-era debris under the bed which I did not investigate. The (shared) bathroom was filthy – I was afraid to touch anything in there. In the next door kitchen where I went for a glass of water, the sink was piled high with dirty dishes. A group of people were watching something on a TV while eating their dinner.

Had it not been so late, I would have considered finding somewhere else to stay! I decided that I had slept in worse places (in West Africa!) and so I would put up with it.

That night, because of the row coming from the surrounding rooms, I was very glad of the ear-plugs I had brought, although one of them had disappeared by the morning. I'm still not sure I didn't eat it in my sleep.

Next day I paid the hostel hippy, as I was leaving early in the morning. BOOKING.COM states that “Seasons” takes major credit cards. They do not. Cash is the only thing they accept. Luckily there is an ATM nearby.

I don't know what possessed me to book that time, but my train from Moscow was at 06:45. My guide book (incorrectly) stated that the metro started at 06:00. I decided that I needed to be at the nearby metro station before then. I set my alarm for 05:30.

During the night there had been constant noise from the people living on the couches outside my room, until about 04:30. So, after I woke and dressed, I took great delight in extravagantly bursting out of my room at 05:45. All the occupants of the lounge area awoke as one, and bleary eyes followed my progress out of the front door, which I let shut with a bang. I would not be returning!

Overpriced hovel

It was very comfortable, clean and cozy. A large kitchen where you could chat with the residents (all the residents were friendly and friendly), behind curtains on the beds, you could hide, and a separate rocket allowed you to charge your phone without any problems!Everything was nice, I didn't even want to leave!

I recommend everyone stay here!

It is a short walk over the river to the Red Square and very close to the metro station. The staff was helpful. The place was quite crowded - there was a group of school kids staying and therefore quite noicy, but overall OK. Bathrooms are shared but in good clean condition. There is also a big kitchen where cooking is possible if needed.

Nice location!

When choosing an overnight stay for one night, a good location was bribed. It was a bit annoying to enter when the administrator was unable to accommodate guests despite the booking, while talking to me on the phone from the next room! A call to booking.com instantly resolved all questions and as compensation for the inconvenience we were provided with a two-seater room instead of the booked beds in the common room.

Satisfactory.

The two points are given by the location close to a metro and the red square and the girl at the reception which has been quite friendly. After that it is not worth anything, it actually looks not like a hostel but a Student or Workers' Pension, not tourist at all. They have no maps of Moscow, do not know where the train stations are, charge you 100 rubles to use the washing machine, the cleaning of the bathrooms does not exist and everything is quite dirty. In the morning you open the door to the room and there is a guy who seems to work there too who if he gets up to speed, enters and leaves the room in the weather.

The hostel has very little.

We booked a room here through a reputable vendor, but on arrival we were told that our room was already reserved because other guests had decided to stay longer. As it turned out, the hostel owner had emailed us three days earlier that he had rescheduled us. However, since Moscow was not our first station, we had no way of responding. Unfortunately, the other accommodation did not have a room for the entire duration. Afterwards, the owner of the Seasons Hostel was very kind and drove us to another accommodation where we had to turn around ourselves. His alternatives were completely unacceptable. This was also the absolute minimum after our room was simply taken care of.

Despite the confirmed reservation, no room

Waited 2hrs for owner to come register me on my arrival at 12noon. The cleaning lady was nice, passed me a towel to shower.

Booked a 6 bed dorm and was given a 10-12 bed dorm, although discount was given, I still prefer 6 bed dorm. The squeaky door for the 10-12 bed dorm was a nuisance in the morning and night, the room is right next to the main street, very busy, even at 3am, the noise was unbearable because the windows were opened. There was no aircondition. the only ventilation was the windows. BRING GOOD EAR PLUGS.

This is the worst hostel I ever stayed. Kitchen was messy and not very clean. One of the bathroom was occupied by a huge clothes dryer stand with sometimes full load wet laundry, there wasnt much space for moving around. There are only 2 bathrooms and 1 toilet, there were over 20 guests in the hostel when I was there, 20-30mins wait for shower was normal. 

3 People slept in the couch in the living room. Website is misleading. 

Owner is nice, however, to be fair to travelers, I would not recommend this hostel. 

The good point: 10mins walk to Red Square.

I would not recommend this to my friends

Stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. The location to red square was great, 5 minute walk, can see The Baz Cathedral from the hostel door. The kitchen was great nd you could cook if you wanted to. Showers are gret, very powerful. The Taff were very friendly and helpful, even invited us to their party. I had a double room and was awesome, and friends stayed in a dorm and they had no trouble either. Stay here you won't be disappointed

Great location, people and place!

This hostel is wonderfully located close to Red Square the staff are very helpful .Everything was clean a nice big kitchen to chat with other guests some very funny people were staying when we were there...hi Andy ! The bathrooms, shower areas were very clean , we had the perfect stay here and highly recommend it !
