The hotel was in March. I can estimate the local area at 3+. The rooms are decent. Only they have trouble with the toilet, the water is very weakly washed in the shower and in the bathroom. The hotel itself is new, clean. As always, the elevator didn't work. It was under repair. In short, you can stop boldly if you don't have much to do. The view is very good.

We were on the road for almost 16 hours - we dreamed of getting in the shower faster. But..... the pressure of the water didn't even allow us to wash... the plumber came, something was spinning, adjusting... but it didn't help (as well as our neighbors). We were told that everything was in the room now, so the water is going through this whole thing (our room was on 4th) - it's going to be okay. We were late until 1 o'clock tomorrow night - nothing changed....

A good hotel, clean, fresh rooms, everything new, friendly, polite staff, delicious breakfast (Swedish table), a huge plus for us - accommodation with animals and a children's playroom.

Price and quality

We were with a friend in Ljubljana. On the way back, we decided to stay in this hotel! Very nice and cozy! Well, of course, it's not the Mariot in Prague! But for Ljubljana it's what you need! The rooms are a little tight, so I lowered the rating.

En el Bosque is el Hotel Nikola, a five-minute walk from Lake Bakaji hotel with very convenient wood facilities with terrain surrounding it with chicken coop for making the extraordinary boiled eggs, the breakfast served by Nikola and his wonderful wife, ropes to tend the clothes, a charm of Nikola, recommended to 100. X100. Taxi at the moment if you want it and very cheap.

In the forest.

The hotel is not very convenient from a logistical point of view. You can drive on the route to Lishtvyanka or walk about 6 km. Buses run rarely, there is no sidewalk along the road.

It's a quiet place.

The good points about this stay near Lake Baikal were firstly the excellent service provided by the owners who spoke English fairly well and were very accommodating. They provided a taxi service into Lysvyanka for 200r and to Irkutsk for 2000r a useful laundry service and basic meals. The hotel was uniquely decorated with a million interesting items. There was a lovely balcony in a silver birch wood. The downside for us was the sharing of bath and toilet facilities (we did know about this so our fault) poor sound insulation and we like a more minimalist set up. Also the walk to Lysvyanka took about an hour minimum. 

This is a love it or hate it sort of place

We actually travelled summer 2012 as part of the Trans-Mongolian experience but have only just got down to writing this review. 

We loved Hotel Nikola - tucked away on the road to Listvyanka among beautiful woody landscapes, we'd recommend it to anyone. Take a marshrutka (minivan) from Irkutsk for 100 roubles and stop at Nikola village. Worth calling the hotel for directions once there.

The whole place was beautifully decked out with tasteful and artsy driftwood, and once inside, our room was like a tiny cottage along the decking, like something you would expect to find in the Lake District. Lovely décor within, very homely, and the location is so peaceful. You can see the lake and mountains from the window!

It's a 2km walk down to Lake Baikal, worth taking if the weather's good (but no pavement, be careful about ticks in the grass on the roadside), but the local minibus (marshrutka) is extremely convenient, cheap and fast down to Listvyanka so staying at Nikola is a must for those who don't want the bog-standard Russian hotel down in the tourist zone but want to experience the beauty of the Baikal area. 

The staff were so kind - we had enough Russian to get by but it wasn't necessary as their English was perfect. We especially loved the bar/breakfast room, all that wood! There's a nearby hotel if you arrive late and want dinner, too or you can give notice for Nikola to serve you dinner if you're not eating in Listvyanka. We had a tiny kitchen with tea and coffee-making facilities and a microwave, plus a sink and a toilet. If you are fussy about your bathing habits though, be warned that the guest shower is located in the main building where the owners reside, so not in your room, which is the only reason we've given this gorgeous hotel 4 stars instead of 5.

Loved it!

We stayed for 3 nights at Nikola as part of a Trans-Mongolian trip. The village itself is about 7km from Listvyanka. Don't let that put you off though as it's only a couple of hours walk along the lake to get there or a 10 minute ride on the very cheap bus. As we visited out of season it didn't look like Listvyanka was a better place to stay in any event.

We were met at 6am from the train by Anastasia and Igor as planned to be transferred to Nikola. Anastasia has really good English so there is no problem in organising things. I would recommend the transfer from Irkutsk as it would be difficult to find by bus. Doing the trip in reverse back to Irkutsk was easy though so we just got on the public bus.

The village itself is tiny so expect to eat at Nikola each night. That's a bonus though as the home cooked breakfasts and dinners are really tasty. There is also a shop 5 minutes away which sells water and very cheap beer!

The rooms are very cozy and the one we were in was fairly big. It is a communal shower but plenty of hot water and water pressure.

Overall a great place to stay very close to the lake.

Very cosy homestay

Amazing place tucked away in the hills by the mouth of the Angara. The room was warm and cosy, with a convenient lavatory, but the shower is a fair distance away. We ate breakfast and dinner there since there isn't much else available. There is a very small shop five minutes away with a selection of bread and cheese.
Even so, it's a lovely place, well worth a visit.
DO NOT try and find it by yourself. Igor and Anastasia will meet you drive you back for a price and it's money very well spent
