This B&B is excellent!! It is extremely well kept, clean and comfortable!! The rooms have excellent AC for warm weather. The custom furnishings and staircases are hand oiled Cherry wood and look amazing. The building is from 1690 and was remodeled beautifully. The breakfast buffet was the best we experienced on our trip with a wide variety of breakfast items. Our only regret is that we wished we had more time to spend in Ptuj!! The city has amazing sights and charm. The walk suggested by the owner Vladimir was excellent. The city is very photogenic!! You can’t go wrong!

Excellent place to stay in Ptuj!!

Ptuj is a  beautiful little town, ideal for walking through its mostly pedestrianised streets, and to really enjoy a stay here the 'Silak B&B' close to the river Drava is perfect. Vladimir, who is running the place, was expecting me already outside the accommodation, when I arrived. He speaks good English and he gave me plenty of information on the hotel, a former tannery, and also about Ptuj, suggesting on a map a sightseeing walk (which happened to be almost the same as the one in Lonely Planet's 'Slovenia').

Being shown different rooms and thus having a choice I went for one, which faces the river (and a parking lot just in front of the hotel). Vladimir helped me with the suitcases, since in all the historical accommodation are staircases, also up to the reception. The room with beams on the ceiling had all I needed, a wardrobe with plenty of hangers and shelves, a writing desk and the bathroom was fine too. Also it was quiet during my stay.

A pleasant place to sit down is the courtyard with tables, chairs, flowerpots and a stand with brochures. Breakfast is served in an attractive cellar-like room with arches as of 7.30am. I loved the choice of available items, although only cold ones, but it had the probably biggest choice of fresh fruit I have ever seen at a hotel. In charge of the breakfast was Lydia, the wife of Vladimir. On the first morning she came up to me, speaking fluent German, since she had apparently heard that I were from Switzerland.

All the main sights are in easy walking distance from the 'Silak', also the castle, only the railway and the bus station are about 1km away. The two best restaurants in town, which I both tried, are very close to the B&B: the 'Ribic', specialising in fish, and the 'Amadeus' on the way to the castle.

We felt very well right away. We got a local plan with a detailed explanation and the history of the house. The room is cozy and everything is very clean, the beds are comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and rich. We got a lot of information about what we could look at, and at a random meeting with the hostess at the place we were asked how we were doing again and there were other good tips. The host couple and their staff are friendly and helpful. I can recommend Silak with the best of my conscience. The location is very central, you can walk to the castle and into the center.

Beautiful accommodation

The Owner is really charming with broad history knowledge of Ptuj. The place is absolutely beautiful and fabulously renovated. Old 16th century beams still on the ceilings and the inner garden/restaurant are breathtaking! I will definitely go back.

Most incredible b&b

B&B Šilak is located in the oldest part of Ptuj (the oldest Slovenian city) and it is perfect to discover the old part of Ptuj and (with a car or on a bike) to discover other parts of region to.
Our room was very rustic (as the building) but it is also very comfortable.
The owners are one of the nicest people you will ever met. I think they were husband and wife and he is taking care that you will not miss anything in Ptuj and wider and she is taking care for very rich and tasty breakfast and for comfort in rooms.
The price is also very reasanoble so I recommend this place for everyone traveling in or near Ptuj!

2 night stay in a rustic building with the nicest owners

The charm of the establishment is the kindness of the owners and staff and the calmness of the place. The advice of Vladimir Silak and the attention of his wife. It is the place to be in Ptuj. With the hotel's bicycles there are several walks to do, there are good restaurants in the village. The location of the hotel is ideal with our parking lot. If we had to return to this area we would return to the Silak Bed and Breakfast. Thank you to all the actors of Silak Bed and Breakfast.

The place to be

A repeated visit to this wonderful house, which is extremely competent. All lightning-clean, beautiful rooms and extremely friendly and very hospitable hosts, as you rarely find them. You feel at home. The location is very good, quiet and you can walk to the main sights of this beautiful old town. I highly recommend this accommodation! Even the breakfast can be seen!

One-time accommodation in very good condition...

The owner of his hotel is very friendly. There are free parking place near the accomodation. Breakfast is very deliciuos and various. The hotel is almost in the heart of the city. All the attractions are very close. It's fantastic hotel.

Excellent hotel

We stayed here for 2 nights and booked via the hotel website, that way you are able to choose your room number, good cause they are all a little different. (room 10 is good ) :)
Owner is helpful, breakfast really good.
It is very centrally located to the old town and easy  walking distance to Ptuj therme
