Stayed at this hostal for 2 nights on the 6th and 7th March. The place was unbelievingly clean and although there were no frills, the room was spacious and even had a fridge, t.v. and A/C. If I were to go to Gaucin again, this is the place I would stay in. The restaurant upstairs had been closed for a few months, though, so I cannot comment on the food. 1min in car from the hostal to the top of Gaucin, where we parked and had breakfast every day. One other bonus are the views from the window.

Pleasant Surprise

On the way to Jimena de la Frontera, my wife and I stopped at this restaurant for lunch. There was no menu but the prices were adequate. My wife ordered an Iberian secret to the table accompanied by a garnish of fried potatoes and a Champión. The exquisite taste. For me the first part was tomato soup of picadillo and the second part was rabbit sauce with a garnish of fried potatoes. The soup was good even though the picadillo was not of cone jam. It could be improved quality. The very tender and tasty sauce was of tomatoes with onion and pepper. The dessert was tomatoes with pepper and pepper. The tomatoes were fresh from the weather. Enormes and exquisites. To drink water, you had to drive.

A good place to have lunch.

It's a classic sale with typical local food, reasonably priced. All Saints' Day celebration. The village tope. We ate well, we were served VERY FAST. We have a house in Gaucin and confirm that it's a nice place to eat. As a hostel I don't know it.

Vistas are unpalatable and good service.

A review of the restaurant / bar, rather than the hostal. Having driven past on one day and walked past on another, we decided to try Hostal Brenaverde for a menu del dia before we left Gaucin, even though we knew nothing about it.  We're glad we did.  We got a friendly welcome from a helpful young waitress and she did all she could to explain what was on the menu.  I had a very generous prawn cocktail (with fruit as well as salad) while my wife started with gazpacho.  For main course she had cuttlefish "goujons" and I had large grilled pork escalopes, both with chips.  A generous portion of cheesecake each rounded off a tasty and filling meal.  Even with beers beforehand and coffees afterwards, there was still change out of a 20 euro note.  The place may look a little like a truck stop, but the welcome was warm and the service attentive.  It also seemed to attract plenty of custom both local and passing.

Good for an unassuming menu del dia

We visited as a last minute recommendation from our villa owners but we found the food to be very ordinary at best. Perhaps it was a bad day in the kitchen as they did have a wedding on the same day but we could not recommend the restaurant. We had s variety of food from chicken, grandmas special pork, fillet beef (be aware that this is not fillet steak but rather a paper thin cut)vend a type of steak. All were not good. Nice staff but the food doesn't merit a visit

Below average food

Great views, friendly staff, clean room, great food whether you like tapas or a full meal. The surrounding areas had great view points, the views were amazing. Ronda only approximately 35k away from hotel, a must for any holiday maker.

Great location

My review is regarding the bar-restaurante rather than the hotel.

Good friendly service with good basic country food, which I have visited on my numerous trips up and down this lovely road to Ronda and other white painted towns.

The express coffee is excellent.

Bar-Restaurante review

Stopped off at this venta for the menu del dia.  But there is no menu they tell what there is available, so you do need a bit of Spanish but well worth the 8€ for a 3 course meal including a drink. The food is basic but very nice and the waiter was friendly and helpful. The views of Gibraltar down the mountain are also great.
