It was so noisy and unkept. Horrible service as well. Not recommended. All that me and my fiance were looking for is decent enough service, that's all. There was also repulsive insects in our room too! Don't waste your money on this dive.

Not impressed at all!

Stayed here booked in for 5 nights stayed for 1 ! It is very noisy banging of doors by people to wake you in the morning, we checked in found we had a a baby cobra in our bed ! Very unhelpful staff said it was a kid's pet !! And no bed they never fixed this but when we tried to leave they ' managed 'to find a new room , I booked on booking .com they cancelled my booking with them as a ' no show' which meant my credit card would be charged in full but had already E mailed booking. Com to say we were leaving and why but this meant I couldn't put a review on the site so I have put it on here instead to stop people getting ripped off!!

A Dormitory in Sheep's clothing!

If you want to be with amazing human beings in a unique wooden treehouse-like structure look no further. Come to the chill out house and meet your new family!

This place is a habitat for the most beautiful mix of personalities from all over the globe.
Like many others before me I came here for a few days and ended up staying for 6 weeks.
It’s been half a year now and I still think of the great time I had there. Most of the times I felt like an idiot though because I couldn’t stop continously smiling for weeks :)
You will feel welcome from the very first moment you’ll set your foot in this magical place.

All rooms and sanitory facilities are clean and tidy.
If you are in desperate need of an AC unit and your own private bathroom you might want to consider another hostel though. But even if you do so I would definitly recommend to drop by for a drink or two at the bar.
I never missed anything and I wouldnt trade this  atmosphere for a 5 Star Hotel.

The Magic Place

The Chill Out House quickly became my home away from home, and the owners and guests became my family away from family. Welcoming environment that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed right away and at all times. Can't wait to return to Koh Lanta, more excited to come back to Chill Out House!

Chilling at the Chill Out House

Loved my time here, probably the best part of my trip. Like minded, easy going guests and staff. Rustic vibes. Its like camping, but there is a bar. Very close to the beach and restaurants and all amenities. 10/10 would recommend. I had booked 4 nights in advance, walked in and said I will stay here for the remainder of my time on lanta. I stayed in the Ellen room, and slept under her watchful gaze all week.

They have an Ellen DeGeneres room!

This is definitely a treehouse feel and very laid back environment. We stayed 3 nights and I don’t think I would stay longer. We booked a private room, the bed wasn’t the comfiest which is to be expected in Thailand but we had an issue with how wobbly the bed was. There are only 2 showers and toilets and the only warm shower only a hose as the shower head is broken. There is very limited security in the hostel as our dorm dorm was never closed and there are only small lockers in the communal area for your belongings. 
The bug netting above each bed is very useful and they have a small bar and social area to meet other travelers. The staff are quite nice and gave us excellent recommendations on places to eat. 
I’d recommend it for a unique experience, I wouldn’t say its for everyone. 

Laid back, 

We go there not for comfort but for the beauty of the place and the fraternity that lon finds there you will find a good team a cool place to relax the bar is nice and very good price the beds are simple but c cool.

que hostel to chill out and relax. I planed to stay for 3 nights - but in the end I stayed for 15 days :)
From the first day on you will be part of a unique community with lovely (mental) staff and cute volunteers. Together we have had unforgettable moments, including insane Frisbee sessions, building sand Pyramids and roasting corn over bonfires at a secret beach... 

The hostel has its own bar with free water & coffee. You will sleep in one of the dorms up 'in the trees' or in a 'private room'. Each bed has it's own mosquito net for a bug free night. If you are staying longer or traveling as a couple, I would recommend booking a private room (and do that a few days in advance). 
Note: Don't expect any luxury. You will live like 'donkey kong' in a jungle like 'tree house'. Things are simple but functional. And everything everything necessary is there. 

It only takes a few steps to get to the beach or the main road with everything a backpacker could need (super markets, bars, scooter rentals...). The whole area located around the hostel I would call a 'backpackers paradise'. 

One thing you will have to do: Go to the beach at midnight and admire the glowing plankton. If you're brave enough then go for a swim and see the water glow around you (seriously - we were there every night - it was a unique experience). 

Oh, and one more thing: The hostel has it's own special tattoo studio with a very talented artist. If are in to it, I recommend you to get a nice Bamboo Tattoo :)

Lovely community 

Chill out house is the perfect stay for a budget trip and even though we could ve easily afford to stay somewhere "fancier", we prefered the chill out house and we don't regret this at all.

The stuff are friendly (getting drunk with you kind of friendly), it is mostly a small community of travellers crossing paths and exchanges amazing anectodes rather then just a hoste.

The bar is cosy and cheap, compared to other ones nearby, it is a 2-3mn walk to the beach so no worries about that. 

The rooms are basic: you have what you have a fan and mosquito barrier (we didn't need much more really) and again it is so cheap. We got the biggest room in there and it was as expensive as a drink in some bar there. 

We left with good memories, fun nights and most importantly new friends..

If we ever visit Lanta again we will defently checkin again there. 

So cheap you feel a bit guilty! 

We had booked another place to stay before, but we decided not to stay. So we started out with a double room, which was a bit uninhabitable after very loud music, and we got the hint to go to the Hippie Village, because the prices there were more affordable. Then we ended up in the Chill Out House. The Chill Out House is not an ordinary hostel, but it looks more like a tree house. There are no fixed walls and everything is definitely branded. We had a double room at the beginning, which was no longer habitable after very loud music, because the staff had collapsed. Then we spent the next two days alone in the village. The mattresses are very thin, but there is no one else there. We have a hostel right next to each other. There was a mosque in there, so there was a large area, so if there was anything to help people, at least for the time of the year, there would be a lot more room to stay in the village! But the mattresses are very quiet, but there is no one else out there. There was a hostel right next to each other. There was a mosque,
