This hotel was a good option for a short stay in Ankara, at least in my experience. I got an online discount price and it was great value.  It's right in the heart of the city and it only cost me 15 lira by taxi to the main sites, or a 3km walk.   Yes it's dated looking and the furniture appeared worn,  but it was value for a convenient location right on both metro lines, and I slept fine in the room.  Front windows are double glazed but it won't block out the lively night market so bring earplugs or go to bed when it closes.  It was cool when I visited, but closed windows in hotter/colder months might be a concern, so maybe try to get a back room.  Wifi is free and good, reception spoke good English, the bathroom was clean, bar fridge prices were passable. Breakfast buffet looked quite good though get in fairly early if it's busy.

Good value, old hotel in a great location

we arrived in Ankara in the early morning without a place to stay and walked looking for a cheap hotel.  Akya was the first place we looked at, and came back after seeing several others and deciding that this was the best option.  We stayed a few nights, and the staff was flexible with our reservation, allowing us to extend, and letting us check in early on the day we arrived.  The staff spoke very little English, but this seemed to be true in Ankara in general, and was not really a problem.  The room was hot and very stuffy, and the air conditioning didn't really work, but it was clean enough.  The one major issue was that several things, very strange things, went missing from our room the first day (old flip-flop sandals, 2 bras).  Those things were definitely in my possession upon entering the hotel and we turned the (very small) room upside down looking for them.  When we informed the staff, they got very defensive and told us that it was "impossible".  We cancelled housekeeping for the rest of our stay.  On the bright side, the breakfast was the best we had in our 3 weeks in Turkey and the location was absolutely perfect.

I am sorry to say this was not one of my better experiences in Ankara. The hotel is very "tired", air conditioning is just noise and has no impact on room temperature. It was unbearably hot. Things like towels were clean but had certainly seen better days. Breakfast was below standard from my experience in other local hotels.

Last resort

I think if you do not have any other options and you need a night to stay and go on, this hotel is what you need. rooms are normal, beds are clean and most importantly it is safe. the most  important feature of this hotel is location. it is really in the center of the Kizilay.
