cheap, old but clean little rooms. Quiet friendly staff, in Ayvalik's center, close to bazaar, near the sea also close (but not by walking) to Cunda Island and Sarimsakli beach. Sometimes especially on weekend nights a lots of sounds from the bars nearby.

Yes, it has obviously recently been refurbished and we had a front room right on the waterfront which was really lovely. The views were amazing and we didn't need the ac as the sea breezes were great. Ayvalik is a really nice place right off the foreigners radar, well worth a visit and the Kaptan well worth staying in. The owner is very friendly and one of the few people in Ayvalik that speaks good English. There was a good breakfast out on the waterfront terrace and the hotel is situated on a back street ( albeit with an occasional noisy bar behind ) only a couple of minutes from the centre of town. It was really excellent value.

Very enjoyable stay

The hotel has been refurbished in a clean and minimalist style. Everything is basic but quite acceptable. The one feature not upgraded is the air conditioning which makes enough noise to disturb the soundest sleeper. Deep bass music from nearby venues is also a problemú

Very nice hotel in a traditional building, very well decorated, we were given a room on the second floor with excellent sea view. It's worth paying for the defense. Very good location. It has double-walled windows, very good breakfast.

After escaping from another boarding house, we went to our hotel. The rooms are very clean, bright and overlooking the sea. The sea is there, on the sea level terrace where you have breakfast. If only they wanted, with improvements in breakfast, it would be beautiful, as it is strategically very close to the center.

Clean, potentially beautiful.

We arrived in Ayvalik without a reservation and I chose this hotel as it was in the mid price range 90TL per night and we had a first floor seaview room with four floor to ceiling windows and our own private balcony.
The hotel is clean and comfortable and the rooms were well appointed with aircon and wifi.
Breakfast was served on the terrace overlooking the sea and was very nice and well presented.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly, even if we had to improvise with the communication-our Turkish is pretty limited.

Fabulous Aegean views

After a rather sorry 2 days at the "Istanbul Pension" (shared bathroom, no locks on doors, no breakout areas) I was thrilled to find this hotel and ended up staying for a week. Comfortable, well-appointed double-room with two large windows (only a side-view of the sea for me, which was fine) and a clean en-suite bathroom . The hotel seems to have been recently refurbished and is kept clean. The staff is friendly, and the location is great, right on the waterfront, with a large terrace overlooking Cova island. Great cafes, bars and fish restaurants are cluttered all around you. The only thing I can't comment on is the breakfast.. 

I slept late every morning and went for coffee at the gorgeous, artsy Italian place "Piu Bravo Coffee", across the road, less than 3 min from the hotel. (These guys do a mean Cappuchino, and so if Turkish coffee is nog your thing....)

It was early in the season and I only paid 50LT a night, which was truly excellent value for money (incidentally 10 TL cheaper than Istanbul pension.)  If you're on a strict budget, but still want some comfort during your stay in Ayvalik, do check out Kaptan Hotel!

Excellent Value Hotel in Perfect Location

It is a pity that this beautifully located hotel is not perfectly maintained. We had the room with a view of the sea and a French terrace. The terrace was partially covered with bird's-eye view. The room was not very large, the closet was dirty and unusable. The bathrooms with a shower curtain, the toilet glasses wavy and very uncomfortable for some heavy-weight people. The fruit floor is typically Turkish with olives, cheese, cooked egg and jams. The receptionist was very friendly and spoke English and German well. Due to the wonderful location, a short stay is highly recommended.

Beautifully situated hotel

The rooms just outside the sea are the hammer. But the second room for the children was also very nice. Then there were the new people (owners and employees). We liked Ayvalik even though we wanted to drive past it first. I'm not the Mark type otherwise, but at the weekly market on Thursday I could barely get enough.

We visited the hotel to get to Lesvos by ferry as early as possible on the next day.Because it was already the offseason,we got two single rooms at a decent price of 50 TL per person.The staff were friendly,the rooms were well equipped and clean.Access to the upper floors is very difficult with luggage - breakfast is typically Spartan.The hotel is conveniently located at the southern entrance of Ayvalik, where numerous places are waiting for you.Questions are urgently needed for a room with waterfront views, which is not very attractive on Thursdays-market day and the terrace is open to the public at least in the offseason.Fazit: It is quite convenient to have a long, less-expensive, less-expensive parking space.
