The Asmalı Konak Hotel lies very close to the main sights of Safranbolu. The Tourist Office with a friendly service is only some 20 m away. From the Asmalı you can walk to Cinci Han and to the mosques. Do not leave the uphill area aside because there are some great old konaklar. 
My room in the hotel had three beds and a sofa/ bench with cushions in Ottoman style. The bed linen had the typical Safranbolu embroideries. I liked those two elements of my room very much. Unfortunately, there was no table and no chair. I had to unpack and pack my suitcase on the floor. There was hardly any electric light in that room. The bathroom and the toilet were in something like a cupboard. When you wanted to have a shower, the water ran across the toilet so narrow it was. At night a lot of noise came from the garden and even more so from the neighbouring hotel. 
Dinner and breakfast were okay, but nothing out of the world.

I'd like to thanks for kindness of staffs. also room&bathroom is clean, bed is comfortable and breakfast is delicious.
It was really cozy otel to me.

If I visit to safranbolu someday again, I'll stay at Asmali.

There are many advantages of the place but most important one is the perfect location. It's not lost deep inside the old town but accessing any place is very easy. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room is big and clean. 

Perfect Location 

First of all, this is one of many renovated old houses located in and around Safranbolu. For those who are unfamiliar with the history, this was the typical Turkish style of house built in the 18th and 19th centuries. This hotel was charmingly restored, and the owner took us on a little tour of the house, showing us artifacts that were found during the restoration.

Our room was spacious--it slept four of us with no problem although the fold-out extra bed was a little narrow, even for my petite 19-year-old daughter. The bathroom was newly re-done, and very nicely. The room was very clean, and the service and amenities were very good. Our only complaint was that we'd been promised an air-conditioned room, and the room we ended up with didn't have air-conditioning. Thus, we slept with the windows open--no insects to speak of, but constant traffic noise as the hotel is located on a street on a hill.

The owner was very helpful, giving us tips on our itinerary of places to see both in the town and outside of town the next day. He even gave real-time driving directions via mobile phone, saving us about 100 km off of our route at one point.

The breakfast, which was included in the price of our stay, was better than the average Turkish breakfast. In addition to the plate of cheese, olives, jams, honey etc., cooked dishes could be ordered for an extra price.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

Beautifiul facilities and extremely helpful staff

Asmali Konak is an old school small hotel -- welcoming owner, full Turkish breakfast spread served in lovely grape arbored garden, and charming rooms featuring traditional Ottoman woodworking and benches lined with carpeted pillows.  Yes, the bathroom is literally in a closet, but it wasn't really that much smaller than a small apartment bathroom.  My traveling companion and I both really liked the hotel and Safranbolu.  This hotel would be a good choice for families or friends traveling together as it has several triple rooms with a double bed, plus a single. The rooms on the third floor all open up onto a hall area with a seating area featuring carpeted benches. The indoor dining area had heaps of charm as well -- but we were there in summer so we ate outside.

Historic house oozing with charm and old school hospitality

We were on our way to the Black Sea and wanted to take saffron. It is good that we chose this small accommodation. The quiet in the evening allows you to really enjoy this special place. The people at the inn were extremely nice and the food in the house restaurant was very tasty. For 80 TL it is really cheap and you also feel like you are transported back to the Ottoman era. Very highly recommended.

It's more like a museum.

Beautiful place...a typical mansion, entirely made of wood, from the Ottoman period..a few steps from the Turkish baths for men and women, one of the oldest in Turkey.Located in the historic center of Safranbolu.We slept the first night in the imperial suite with embroidered sheets and a total luxury...the other day we were moved to a standard room...Excellent typical breakfast...if taken in the courtyard, in the middle of the garden...A place to sleep.

Beautifully authentic guest house restored in all its details. The rooms have been left in their original state but have all the necessary amenities. The owners are very hospitable and helpful and care for their pearls with much love. In summer you can sit in the beautiful, enclosed garden, in winter in the heated rooms. The food in your own is of the best quality in the region. You can also recommend a week-long excursion from Istanbul or Ankara.
