I believe that once the hotel was magnificent, now the bathroom is incredibly small, combined with the toilet - to enter and close the door, without damaging the bathroom. The shower is similar to that of a long time ago. It requires not just repair and restoration, but urgent and capital repair. The furniture, carpet - all old, erased, from the last century; the walls in cracks. I wouldn't recommend it.

The Yafeya is right at the entrance to the city, off the main road that runs along the Black Sea.  We had a view of the busy square below, the water, the tram line, city, and mountains -- very dramatic.  Of the 5 hotels we stayed in during our 2-week trip, this was the most 'normal'.  The room was spacious, clean, in working order, big window (opened slightly), 2 beds of equal size, and an excellent breakfast buffet.  I especially appreciated the choice of 3 flavors of halva at breakfast.  Also liked the large dog sleeping in the entrance to the hotel.  We lucked out in being able to leave our car right in front of the hotel.
Our guidebook didn't give an encouraging review of Samsun, but for our one night stay we saw the old covered clothing district, the old clock tower, the Gazi Museum (if you are a fan of Ataturk, and you should be if only for his looks, you will be in heaven in this free museum dedicated to his career and haberdashery), and the City Museum, which is up-to-date with recordings that activate as you move from room to room.  At this museum we admired the receptionist's ring and she walked us to the street where we could find the shop that sells the ring (we bought it).  We were very disappointed that the archaeology museum is closed. The explanation was that the building was "bad" and the gossip was that they are building a new one.

Good hotel in an underrated city

The area is very noisy, so we got a bit disturbed by traffic. Rooms in normal, however clean. Buffet breakfast, staff available. I didn't have time to visit the area and being on a business trip, I can't define the location of the hotel.

No very modest claim

I stayed here for 3 nights in November and now 3 nights in March, while working in Samsun. It's a good, unpretentious hotel with simple clean rooms and staff who are very willing to do all they can to be hospitable and provide good service. Breakfast is a simple buffet. Room service is fast. Nothing fancy but I have found it to be a good place to stay.
