The most fantastic food, service and atmosphere in this gorgeous pub.  The staff were friendly, accommodating and fun.  We were taking my very ill mother for a lunch as a treat, and were overwhelmed by how well we were looked after and how special everyone made us feel.  Nothing was too much, kids, disabled access.  It was a very special day out.  We would definitely recommend the Black Horse Inn, and will definitely be visiting again.

Pub lunch

Visited pub early evening for some food with my son, chap behind bar very pleasant and accommodating. We found a table and ordered some food at 6.30, we ordered one jacket potato with tuna and sweet corn and a soup with bread and butter. Whilst waiting patiently for our food, we were shocked to hear the chefs in the kitchen swearing at each other and telling each other to f**k off, along with very noisy women sitting at the bar shouting and exchanging explicit details of their sex life to each other. When my son went to bar to order more drinks he mentioned the language etc and the barman wasn't bothered at all. Food finally arrived at 7.15, so 45 minutes to make a jacket potato and warm up some soup!! My son said his food was ok, my soup was passable but the bread was a baguette that was heated up in an oven and was rock hard and I had to soak it in my soup to be able to eat it. After paying the bill, my son said to the barman that he would like to give him some feedback about our stay, and he was told, it's a pub!!! The barman sacastically said goodbye to us when we left, and we told him,we wouldn't be returning. Such a shame as I visited this pub years ago and it was lovely and clean, which can't be said of it now and it's in such a beautiful location, and not being used to its full potential . Got the impression it is a pub for the landlords friends? Please don't let this gem of a little pub go to waste, could be so nice if it was cleaned up and certain guests at the bar didn't go into detail about their sex life as it was putting us off our food. Will not be returning.

Very disappointing visit

Music of a Friday evening, good beer and a strawberry mojito 'to die for' apparently. Food OK.  Garden very pleasant and lots of parking. Friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere.
Would visit again. Nice place

Lovely pub

We were advised on checking in to the property that there was going to be live music.  This advisory came much too late to find else where in the area. 
The music - (not live) at  12 o'clock was loud and penetrated the bedroom, it continued until 2.30 am and stopped.  It restarted again just before 3 am- just as loud and continued to play well past 3.30 am. 
The rooms (shabby, smelly, tired and grubby) were situated on top of the music. 
To add to the noise and misery there was also a dog belonging to one of the staff or local persons scratching and whining outside the door. 
The bed was soft, but felt almost damp as if the room needed a good airing.  The toilet and shower room smelt as if it needed a deep clean.      
Banging, shouting of doors and people coming up and down the stairs through out the night was just as much as a disturbance as the loud music being played. 
Disturbed again at 7 am with frantic banging on the front door. (drug raid?)
We had booked breakfast for 9 am came down to find the internal door padlocked!  We went out through the front exit and found our way in the main bar, where we thought the breakfast might have been.  Everything was in darkness, there were half filled drinks and the place was in disarray.  It was quite apparent that there was no-one around and that the breakfast we had booked was not going to be delivered.
We did not have a good nights sleep in comfort or breakfast and consider The Black Horse to be an absolute rip off.  This place is not value for money and has no respect for it's visitors.

Not recommended, the worst experience I have ever had.

The whole place needs some TLC from the car park and its shabby appearance to the food that had the look and taste of being prepared the day before.
The bar man had a cold and kept wiping his nose without a handkerchief then quite happyly handled our glasses and our food plates. We had commited by then otherwise I would have given it a miss. 
This is the third visit in the last year and I am always left with the same feeling, its just not right.
The tables always seem sticky too which means they probably get one wipe down a day.
Its such a shame as the place is in a great location and should be a real destination.
