We always have a great experience here!
The staff are so welcoming and will happily adapt dishes if asked to do so (eg I always swap my chips for salad).
The food is great - well presented, tasty and a decent portion.
They have a regularly changing specials board, which is definitely worth a look, too!
The only reason I couldn't give 5/5 is we feel the prices are quite high for pub/restaurant food. But tbh, it's never stopped us going because it's just such a nice atmosphere!
(And the desserts are AMAZING!)

Second visit to The Old Stone Trough. Fantastic night away. Staff looked after us in the bar and the food was good quality. Stayed in one of the club double rooms in the main building which was comfortable, quiet and adequate for an overnight stay.

Great place.

We stayed in our campervan, it was a lovely experience and we definitely recommend and will be returning. The food was lovely and really friendly staff. The breakfast was included in the price and was also great. Very dog friendly 🐶 can’t fault it

What can I say!! What a find. Extremely welcoming from start to finish. Looks like they have been having work done it looks amazing. I believe it has been in the last year taken over by a young couple who have young children, I don’t know how they find the time to make the changes that they have done, simply wonderful.
The food was beautiful I had the roast dinner and the meat was excellent. Our room was in the craven wing round the back overlooking the fields, it was a cold evening but our room was toasty warm. The staff are wonderful, all very chatty and helpful.
I have read many mixed reviews on several platforms I don’t understand why people say the rubbish they do, end of the day this is somebody’s livelihood. 
We most definitely will be returning, can’t wait to see what else they do the place for next time.

The best by far!

Warm welcome from lovely friendly and helpful staff.  First class room, well appointed with comfortably bed, spotless bathroom.  Delicious food in relaxing bar area served by equally friendly and efficient staff. Far exceeded our expectations for such a reasonable price. Very highly recommended, we’d definitely stay here again

Absolutely first class

Pros - friendly, helpful staff. Very welcoming and dog friendly. 
Lovely, cosy bar area. Sitting next to the fire with a pint after a long day walking was great. 
The room was small but clean and cozy. 
We ordered take out one night and the staff gave us cutlery and glasses to take to our room and brought the take out to us when it was delivered. Really appreciated this!

Cons - the duvet and pillows had no life left and the memory foam topper had alzeimers! 
We ordered food one evening. Chilli and rice which came out as chilli and chips and tasted dry. The beer battered fish was really greasy and tasteless. 
The breakfasts were disappointing too. The bacon was like leather, eggs were sat in oil and everything was luke warm at best. 

It was really just the food that let this place down. 

Given the current climate and the very reasonable price we paid, I get that the duvet and pillows haven't been replaced yet. 

There are some walks behind and infront if the hotel which were great for walking the dog in the mornings.
There is also a fenced dog field that is payable, just down tye road. 

I would stay here again but would choose to eat out and stick to cereal and toast for breakfast 😊



Lovey Hotel, friendly staff, disappointing food

All I can say is what a great setup this hotel has.We stayed for one night while travelling around the hotel is lovely, staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. The rooms are very nice with comfy beds and very clean and the food was ok 7/10.Unfortunatley the room we had was subject to water damage the week before and had not quite dried out so was a musky smell in the bathroom unfortunately the hotel was booked up and we couldn't move rooms but the manager was fantastic and on checking out they gave us a voucher for a free night's stay 😀 We will be staying there again and we would recommend the hotel and they take dog's as well 😀 

Very nice hotel

Stayed here for one night to meet my family and attend a function in Barnoldswick.  The hotel is easy to find and has plenty of parking available. 

The receptionist was very welcoming and check in was easy.  

My room was located downstairs in the main building.  Room was clean and the bed comfortable.  However, the window did not shut properly, despite my best efforts to do so, and so the room, even though the radiator was on, was rather cold so that on going to bed, I had to take advantage of the additional blanket on top of the duvet and throw already on the bed in order to stay warm.  

Because of the temperature in the room, I was not brave enough to get a shower as the thought of getting out of a nice warm shower into the frigid room, did not fill me with joy.  Also, I did not manage to get hot water out of the hot tap! 

As regards food, we ate in the restaurant in the evening.  Service was very good, however the meals were only average at best.  

On returning to the hotel after our night out in Barnoldswick, we enjoyed a couple of hours in the bar.  The barman was very friendly and was happy to chat and indulge us with our choice of music! 

In the morning, the breakfast was self serve either cooked or cereals and toast.  The cooked breakfast was only just about warm despite being under a hot lamp and in fact the bacon was stone cold.  I think it is the only hotel I have stayed in where, upon asking for tea to go with my breakfast, I was presented with a mug with the teabag in, rather than a pot of tea.

Overall, this hotel is in a great location, with lovely staff but I was disappointed with the food and the room, which is such a shame.

I’m glad I was only booked in for one night.

Such a shame ..

Amazing value for money. Bedroom & Bathroom clean & functional. All staff very friendly & helpful. Breakfast included in the price! Buffet style - fresh & served with a smile. Conveniently located for this beautiful part of Lancashire. Lots of free parking too!

Awesome Value For Money

Stayed for 1 evening, the room was very nice just a few things missing & could do with a bit of updating.  Bed wasn't the comfiest & shower could have had a better head for the size of it. The room was clean & quiet. The main areas are done nicely but it was cold unless you sat right next to the wood burner. We didn't eat here in the evening mainly because it was so cold & we had somewhere else to be. We did have breakfast, it was ok, buffet style & was lukewarm, not much choice , no jams or marmalades for the toast. Reasonably priced, just needs a bit of tlc.
