it is a first time for my support worker and i it is a very nice large place very clean plenty leg room round the tables a very nice staff and a good menu to choose from we will be back food was fresh cookt meals

The beds were comfortable and the place was quiet, so we got a good night's sleep.  But, for Room 12, we had to go up and down multiple stairs and through several fire doors and hallways to reach our room.  Hot water in the shower took a long time to heat up.  Free parking is off-site... must walk a couple of blocks to the carpark.  Very friendly staff.  Historical building right in the heart of Bourne.

We arrived very late... the manager ( I think he was the manager)  he was very very nice and helpful considering we were very late..the room was adorable & comfy.  The breakfast was super delicious..  absolutely loved this place.  Although,  parking was difficult to find.

needed updating.. the noise from the main road is constant all night from it being a major HGV ROAD at a set of busy traffic lights, staff in the morning are miserable too, so didnt stay for breakfast as put off

Four of us popped in here for lunch on a weekday. The menu is basic, Panini’s, baguettes, jacket potatoes, salad. 

We opted for a jacket potato with coronation chicken, baguette with coronation, chicken and a prawn salad.  For dessert, there is a choice of three different ice cream sundaes or cakes from the servery.

The service was okay. The staff could be a little more engaging, especially when they ask you a question and walk away as you answer it. This happened to us and the couple next to us.

The food was fine, nothing to score a “very good” rating it was only average. It’s more like a cafe than restaurant.

I have never been to this town before, but on walking round after we had eaten,  there are certainly a lot more places to eat that had more extensive menus.

Wonderful helpful joint owner Jess .Couldn't fault the room or the hospitality of the staff.My only concern is I found the stairs to my room 7was quite difficult to navigate as I have mobility problems. Although I was told about the stairs on booking I didn't realise how steep they would be .Again help was at hand but feel I would struggle to stay there again .If there are no mobility issues then I recommend this comfortable hotel .I am a lady of age and was staying alone but I felt very safe and secure in the property.

Don’t criticise their choice of interior design !! A ‘hotel’ with an identity crisis …. I was prepared to overlook intense ‘scented’ candles type smell in the smart, fussy, room. However, upon returning from a family funeral , I did not expect to sit in the bed and fall into a hole … upon inspection, 6x sprung slats in metal frame were not in place and when a repair attempted , cheap plastic bracket would not hold! Left at 6am due to a poor nights sleep on the half of bed that was still attached ! I followed up my stay with a note to express my disappointment, quipped more effort should be put into getting the fundamentals right ( a proper bed!!) than interior design and it felt like a £50 / night . Subsequently received a barrage of self justification refusing to make any refund / gesture and telling me I was rude for commenting on their seaside theme in a coaching house hotel. It would appear that hosting and investing in quality basics ( commercial quality bed!!!) is not high on their agenda !

We visited as a family and the owner was so rude when we said we weren’t happy with the food. Microwaved food; overcooked greasy fish and chips. She said that’s how the services it and if we didn’t like it we could leave. we’d paid already. She refused a refund. We didn’t eat any of it and left.

Rude owner and terrible food

We'd previously been a little underwhelmed with Mother's Day at The Angel, but figured we'd give it one last chance... 

On the one hand, it was nice to take out my elderly mother-in-law, my wife and daughter, to commemorate the day. 

On the other hand, it was a very poor experience, and has left me feeling sad we bothered (with the upside being: at least we'll never have to visit again...).

Our reservation was for 13.00 and we arrived promptly. The seating was lovely, as was the crockery (shabby-chic), and there was a gentle and enjoyable Mother's Day ambiance. 

After waiting for almost half an hour for our food to arrive, however, I felt compelled to remind them we were there, and sure enough, it arrived moments later. 

Unfortunately, the edges of the sandwiches were dried out, and there was no butter for the scones (which were warm and LOVELY though...) The clotted cream was in tiny pots, and upon opening mine, it was encrusted with green/black mold. 

This was the final straw in making all four of us decide to never come back again. When asked, "Was everything okay?" my wife said, "Mostly, apart from the moldy cream..." which elicited no comment from the staff. 

Thankfully, Mother's Day generates enough good-energy and happiness to avoid us seeing our experience as awful. Further, at least we'll never forget today's visit, and it's set the bar extremely low for wherever we go next year to celebrate the day! 

In these financially-challenging days, I fear that such sloppy and minimalistic customer service will cost The Angel dear. I hope they turn this around, and put in the necessary thought, time, care and effort to make such special days positively memorable... 

Our last ever Mother's Day visit... 

We stayed in the hotel and held a wake in the stunning event room.  Everything was absolutely perfect, all the staff were so helpful and friendly, the food was delicious and the bar very reasonably priced. There were not enough stars - definitely a 10/10
