Went with friends for lunch,  they have visited numerous times,  for us our second visit.
We secured a large table near the entrance and we’re welcomed by a pleasant waiter who took our drinks order. 
We ordered our food from a waitress, who came straight back and said the  focaccia was off the menu, and then again, minutes later saying the alternative ordered anchovies was also off.   The explanations from the waitress were robotic and indicated a certain lack of planning in the kitchen.
We eventually ordered the sausage roll with black pudding to share between two, and breaded whitebait, not on the menu, again shared.
For mains we ordered 3 fish chips and mushy peas, and 1 sea bass won’t samphire.
After a short wait the starters arrived , both were tasty and well presented.
The minute we finished our sausage roll, one sea bass and one fish and chips arrived, before our starter plates had been removed.
Our friends were still finishing their starters when there mains arrived !!
The waitress said it was because we had ordered starters from the whilst you wait section of the menu  !! A more accurate answer would have been poor organisation and communication between the serving  staff and the kitchen staff.
The food was quite good apart from the chunky chips and the lack of samphire with the sea bass.
We spoke with the manager before paying the bill and she apologised and reduced the bill by £20. We appreciated the gesture, however, it took the enjoyment out of what should’ve been a pleasant lunch with friends, not fast food !!
Last time we were there highly recommended, this time not so much.

Rushed service with robotic staff

I never write reviews, but the oak tree inn deserves a five star one. The service received from all the staff throughout our stay was exceptional, they were all so friendly and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble and they treated our dog like a king! We forgot to bring any food for him and the chef even cooked him up his own pork dinner!! All our food was delicious, steak and chips cooked to perfection. Beautiful breakfast.  The room immaculate and bed so comfy. Cannot fault anything and cannot  wait to stay again.

Excellent food and exceptional service. We visited with our 8 week old baby and young dog and nothing was too much trouble to help us to enjoy our visit. We ate in the bar area which had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We would highly recommend this pub

Excellent food and exceptional service

called in lunchtime sunday, place was almost empty.
just wanted a drink, large sauvignon blanc, pint of Theakston, packet of crisps & small salted peanuts. Only had two types of crisps & only four packets, only had one peanuts.
That was bad enough but charged £18.75 which I questioned, & was informed the wine was £10.90
Sat down, started to look closely at the surroundings, the place needs a thorough clean & some fresh decorating. I will not return, & we used to use this pub prior to lockdown quite a lot.
Just check the charges if you go, but I cannot recommend

Bar staf are lovely best food and comfy beds recommend to a freand cheep drinks and can get any food you want if requested and the Sunday lunch is 10 10 do not miss out book befor they runn out of spaces and the beds are unbelievable 

Good location a few miles off A1 in a lovely village. Easy access to Ripon,  Fountains Abbey etc. Very friendly welcoming pub with good freshly cooked food much of it locally sourced. It has comfortable rooms with good quality linens and towels. Dog friendly and dogs can stay too!

Just been for Father’s Day lunch , spoilt by one rude staff member , food was ok , main course was slightly cold , the lady staff member/ manager/supervisor in question was too worried about further bookings arriving (which didn’t arrive)to care about our table or feelings, won’t be visiting again

Fathers Day Family Lunch

We had lunch for my Dad ‘s 80th Birthday with the family the food was fantastic service was exceptional ,I also booked a room for the night for my parents and the room was ready early so I could put balloons and banner in the lady Lyndsey went out of her way to make it special I would recommend this place to all my friends Superb ☀️

Meal out from my Dads 80th Birthday 🥳

We booked the private dining room for my Dad's birthday and had a fantastic day! We were looked after brilliantly by our waiter Adam who made sure we had everything we needed.  The food was gorgeous and we all very much enjoyed our afternoon.  Highly recommend 👌

Fantastic celebration Sunday lunch

We came on a Saturday evening for a birthday meal, we sat down at 7pm and were told many dishes were missing from the already very small menu. The food (2 steaks, a burger and a pie) took 1 hour 20 minutes to arrive., with no explanation or updates during that time. There was no apology for the lateness of the food. The steaks were on the wrong plates and when I mentioned this at the end of the meal, I was ignored. The restaurant was very quiet so I was shocked at everything that went wrong. Unfortunately I cannot recommend coming here due to the ignorance of the staff on clearly a very bad evening. No apology was given at any time. Thank you
