We stayed for 3 nights in Kelpie - the one bedroom downstairs accommodation. Well appointed, nicely furnished and very comfortable place to stay on Orkney. Short drive to St Margaret's Hope ferry terminal and good access to Mainland Orkney

Excellent dog friendly accommodation

A great place to stay on Orkney if travelling with your pet.  Clean, welcoming and well-located in the islands, it gives a great base to explore from.  We stayed for 3 nights and the one bedroom accommodation was spacious and ideal for our visit.  Highly recommend

Great Dog-friendly Accommodation

We have just enjoyed a stay in the 3 bedroom apartment - Tangles!
It had everything we needed for our stay - everything was thought of down to milk and butter in the fridge! It was very clean and comfortable, a great location for exploring the island and there were lovely views from the rooms!
It was very peaceful and relaxing!
Dog friendly too. Lots of walking opportunities and a great pub/restaurant within walking distance!

Great find!

This was the perfect place for me to stay as a solo traveller and first-timer to Orkney. Tangles and Kelpie are two apartments and I had Kelpie which is the smaller (but still spacious) one bedroom apartment. It literally had everything I needed for self-catering accommodation. The washing machine was a delight as it meant i didn't have to find a laundrette and the kitchen was fully equipped from pots and pans right down to a tin opener. 

Victoria was very accommodating and understanding about my late arrival and left  clear note as to where everything was and I let myself in. She owns the 'Seaview Stores' which is the only grocery store in Burray but you could buy any odd bits you needed from there and even knock on her front door after hours (on site) if you needed something extra, although Lidl is best for an all round reasonably priced purchase. The shop and the apartment were fully equipped with everything you needed, it was a perfect home away from home. Could not fault it. It was spotlessly clean, spacious, cosy and so peaceful, overlooking farmland.

Parking facilities are ample.

Great place to stay to explore Orkney in general as it is fairly central. But you NEED a car, you won't get anywhere without one.

Very close to The Fossil Heritage Museum, Scapa Flow, the Churchill Bunkers, and the Italian Chapel. Twenty minutes drive to Kirkwall.

Outstanding!

The holiday apartment is very easy to find. It is very well decorated. The equipment is very good, two sofas for two people, built-in kitchen washing machine, TV and working Wi-Fi. The bathroom is very functional, somewhat spartan, but it serves its purpose. It is very large. The bedroom has a large closet and a comfortable double bed, as well as accessories for the beams, laundry baskets and laundry clamps. The view is also very nice. The price-performance ratio is right for all cases.

Nice location very much to recommend

We stayed in Tangles for just one night, and loved it. Great views from the lounge, which was very comfortable, the apartment was very spacious and quite well equipped, Victoria ( the host) was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful, even offering to open her store after hours if there was any thing else we needed. The apartment was very good value for money, and is only a 7 minute drive away from the Pentland Ferry terminal. There is plenty of on site parking and the Sands hotel is a short walk away for food and drinks.

Very good accomodation

Nice well maintained relaxing self catering accommodation. Ideally situated with local hotel for meals out.  Victoria is friendly, helpful and also runs the local convenience store which is adjacent and handy.
Great views and although pet friendly accommodation you wouldn’t even notice this as it kept to a good standard.
Would highly recommend.

Nice relaxing dog friendly accommodation 

We stayed in Tangles which was the 3 bedroom upstairs apartment. The beds were all made up, all towels were provided and Victoria had left bread, milk, tea, coffee, and some marvellous Orkney butter( which we all adored). The kitchen was well stocked with all the usual utensils and everything was clean and tidy. Our family loved our stay at Tangles so much that we booked to return next year before we left.  Would highly recommend staying here as its about 10 mins from the ferry at St Margarets Hope and about 15 mins from Kirkwall. The Burray Stors, whcih Victoria owns aswell is right next door so very handy if you need some shopping bits and pieces.

A hidden gem which comes with extras

Tangles is upstairs  with 3 bedrooms and so cosy comfy and perfect Was with my adult daughter and we both  loved it from arrival and felt so relaxed and at home there . Close to the ferry and  a great base for travelling round. Victoria the owner was so lovely .Very friendly and helpful and went that extra mile  .Property was well equipped and location just behind main route yet so quiet and peaceful . Loved it and will be back

Fantastic place to stay

Just returned after a great holiday, once again helped by having a great place to stay. We stayed in Kelpies, a ground floor single bed room self catering unit that is almost completely disabled friendly. 
It has everything you need for a comfortable stay - good cooker, microwave, fridge (with a small ice box), washer, kettle, toaster and all relevant dishes, pans etc. If you cannot be bothered cooking the Sands Hotel is 5mins walk away, serving great food that is not too pricey and on a Friday evening a chip van parks just round the corner. 
There is a nice covered decking area that, if you bring camp chairs, you can sit out on and just watch the traffic go by on a Churchill Causeway. Fishers can bring your rods and go down to the harbour pier 5mins away and see what you can catch - I can guarantee there were mackerel in August and very tasty they were!!
Victoria, the owner, runs the village store and can not do enough to help make your stay a holiday to remember!!!
