We really enjoyed our 1 night stay. 2 of us had a good size twin room, clean and with a very nice modern bathroom. It could have done with a nonslip shower mat though. My 3 rd friend had a lovely double room but found there wasn’t anywhere to put things in the bathroom, small criticism.  Very nice breakfast with enough choice. The hotel itself was really friendly feeling, we thought, with an area to sit, what seemed like new carpeting on stairs and corridor . Pleasant helpful staff. We didn’t have dinner but the menu looked very good. Excellent location.

Comfortable and enjoyable

Situated right on the main street, I booked this more for convenience than anything else and at £114 per night, I was expecting a decent experience. Car parking at the rear and a bar serving alcohol…what can go wrong? There’s no lift but that’s OK, I can manage easily enough to the first floor…although I’m always suspicious when I get handed an actual door key as opposed to a card. Yikes…someone’s at the wind up surely! Last refurbished in 1983, there’s an old-fashioned steel radiator that is turned off…but only look warm after having been turned on for an hour…room is Baltic. No heating source whatsoever in the bathroom…it’ll be freezing in the morning. A small electric heater is the only device available which after several hours, surprisingly does help to defrost the room….there’s condensation on the outside of the window! :) By now I’m thinking that if it wasn’t almost dark and Winter, I would have picked up my case and left but sadly I have no option but to stay here…only one night thankfully.

Very out dated but friendly staff...not for me!

This hotel is very old. It is worn out and has a backyard. We had 4 rooms, these were renovated and there were even new bathrooms, but without heating. The windows could not be closed, the existing heaters were from the last century. Sometimes they did not work. The dining room (it was really a hall) was very cold and the breakfast selection was quite manageable. The service in the dining room was uncomfortable. It was not asked if we needed coffee or toast, on the contrary, the desire to prove more coffee was made with the addition that it was already nine o'clock, not a little there. We probably didn't feel it. But at the end of the morning, all the votes were very poor. In the dining room they were all badly removed. Four rooms and they were really damaged by the end of the morning!

We won 't be booking there anymore.

Great location on the main street. Not far from shops, pubs and the harbour. Spacious room (only thing was our view was of a side alley and scaffolding). Great snug bar and lunches/dinners available in bar, front lounge area or dining room. We had dinner one of the nights and it was excellent. Breakfast was good also. Staff very friendly. Also free parking at the back of hotel.

Nice hotel on the main street!!

I stayed at the Argyll Hotel for four nights. It was very comfortable and clean. The staff is excellent.  The breakfasts were good.  I used the dining room a couple of times and it was very nice and quiet. Reasonably priced and convenient to everything.  I would stay there again when I am in Campbeltown.



Comfortable  stay while in Campbeltown

A rather tired hotel which really would benefit from an upgrade, There is no lift and the stairs are steep.
 I can't remember of the booking site I used asked about disabilities, but we were on second floor. The breakfast was good.

Average stay

Really nice hotel. Large room with everything you need. Beds comfy. Staff friendly and helpful. Food was really good. Hotel is really nice inside, looks recently refurbished but has breakfast room has original features.  Had dinner in the hotel, chicken, haggis and the best gravy I have ever tasted, yum

Enjoyed my stay 

A very cosy hotel, with clean rooms, with ensuite bathrooms and very good beds.
They have their own parking at the back of the hotel.
Everything to do within Campbeltown is in walking distance, so we could visit the distilleries and drink the whiskies.
Good breakfast and friendly staff.

Good hotel for a friendly price

Sadly an unsatisfactory stay. Worn out and dated throughout. Marks on the walls. Worn and faded furniture. Noise and poor soundproofing. 

The worst aspect was the totally worn and uncomfortable matress on the bed. It was an utter disgrace. It was fit for the bin.

This building im sure was once grand and impressive, but not now. 

The staff however, were very pleasant and provided a good level of service and friendly attention. 
Breakfast was reasonable. Ordered and served in a timely manner with a good selection. 
Sadly i would not recommend this hotel. It was hugely over priced and not worth it at 86quid a night. The correct price point would be more like £55 for the condition of the building.

Overpriced run down and worn

Stayed here on a business trip, staff were friendly and room service kept rooms clean with fresh towels, coffee ,tea and biscuits refreshed everyday. Bathroom was modern and a smart tv with netflix etc. 

Good menu, decent drinks selection and breakfast  was good with full english and cereals, toast and fruit .
