Great pub with real people in it, plenty of selection and all well priced friendly staff, had takeaway breakfast from here and it was very good, look forward to returning, places like this should be praised for keeping up the community, well done 👏

Great boozer

Lovely inn, welcome and friendly staff who can’t do enough to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. Lovely food and fantastic prices. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice little place to stay the night in a picturesque village. 

Lovely little inn 

Called in for the fish and chips special and was not disappointed, portions were generous and the quality of the food was excellent. Service was good and the place had a nice atmosphere.
Looking forward to coming back and trying the Sunday lunch

A friend saw an advert on Facebook so we decided to try it .
Food was delicious and reasonably priced. The hosts were very welcoming and it was a very cosy atmosphere. 
Will definitely be visiting again soon 

Lovely local pub

We decided to pop in for a drink after walk to St John Lee church when staying locally. Having our small puppy with us we were so pleased to be able to take him into the pub. The landlady was so welcoming. The pub is very comfy and clean. We wished we could have stayed for a meal and on returning to where staying heard several compliments on the food they serve. We would definitely return if in area in the future.

First night open since lockdown. Really well laid out for safety. We stayed over and the bedrooms were freshly decorated the room was lovely, light and clean and tidy.
Would recommend the sun for all those walking Hadrians Wall.

Great night

We stayed here for two nights. The rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable. Our double en-suite room was above the bar which a bit noisy but not too bad. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the breakfast. Feels like a real locals pub. We didn’t eat there in the evening. We had to park on the road but it wasn’t a busy road at all.

Nice little stay.

Unfriendly owners for a start is not the best way to run a business. En-suite room okay although bathroom could do with a scrub is the only way to describe it, wasn’t exactly dirty but felt it could do with a deep cleanse. Bed needs replacing it was missing the bottom bed knobs which was visible as the mattress must have been slightly too small it looked secondhand. Lovely bar area, very quaint. No food available expect pizza avail 6-9pm. Cooked breakfast was okay although portion size very small, good job it was served on a smaller plate so it didn’t emphasise the fact. All in all, my husband & I would not return again unless refurbished under new management. Beautiful village setting though.

Retired

Very friendly staff and lovely pub atmosphere.  We stayed one night and the room was very comfortable and clean.  We had to share the bathroom, which while not ideal, wasn’t a problem for one night.  We had a nice hot breakfast next morning and the room was surprisingly quiet considering the Inn’s location right on the road.  The mattress was a little bit too hard for us and the pillows were not the most comfortable, but that is a personal preference.  Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Comfortable stay

It seems to be the norm to continuously fill regulars full of alcohol knowing fine well they are driving home through the village. 'Turning a blind eye' to the fact that they are driving well over the limit, through the village, past a school and housing estate. The police and brewery are aware and will be making enquiries and paying particular attention to drunk drivers in the area. I hope that the owner has some kind of moral compass and stops allowing this to happen before any accidents or tragedies happen. I know I couldn't live with that on my conscience.
