We booked this as a family of 14 to be away for the New Year, not knowing what to expect. We were in 3 different log cabins, the cabins were amazing, fitted with brand new cooker, hob, kettle, toaster and everything else and they were spotless. There was a TV in the lounge and another one in the bedroom, the bed was very comfortable and we slept well. To our surprise, there was a shower and a bath in a really nice bathroom. The decor was modern and the view from our cabin was spectacular. We had a hot tub, however, because of the weather we were unable to use it. There was also a terrace to sit out on and a garden with a barbecue. We walked down to the bistro one day and had a lovely ham and cheese omelette with fries and salad. Here again, the staff were extremely friendly and attentive and I have to say I was very impressed by the whole set up. The only down side was the weather as it rained every day, however, obviously the site has no control over this. All in all, I think this is an amazing site and would be well worth a summer visit. Thank you Cheddar Woods, this traveller was very impressed. It's a definite 10/10 from me. 

Cheddar Woods family stay 30/1/23-3/1/24

Visited 27th Dec for three nights. A great place for a short stay. Swimming pool , ten pin bowling and pool tables kept the kids happy. Bistro food was good quality and quantity. The caravan was very well equipped....including washer/dryer, dishwasher, bath. Stayed in mendip premier 177.  On arrival it seemed very clean but after a day we realized the floor was covered in dog hair....it was all over the kids clothes. Same colour as the carpet so not immediately obvious at first. When I swept the hard floor in kitchen area i picked up a lot of dog hair. The floor hadn't been touched cleaning wise before we got there. Normally there js a carpet sweeper but we didn't have one so enquired at reception. The lady was perfectly nice and said she would send a hoover up to our caravan ( I do think an apology would have been appropriate) when we returned to our lodge a hoover had been left....I thought it was a bit cheeky to expect us to clean the dog hair! Anyway I wasn't that bothered until I turned on the hoover....oh my goodness....the smell was absolutely horrendous....it honestly spelt like there was a dead dog in the hoover....I can not understand how someone has used that hoover and just ignored it, let alone give it to a customer to use. We were only there for two days so we just let it slide but if we were there for longer I would have pursued it, asked for a different hoover or expected to move lodges. In saying all that I would still recommend it as place to go for a short break at Christmas....its a nice clean site, not masses of bells and whistles but great if you just want to chill for a couple of days. The hot tub we had was also lovely! Please please sort out the cleaning of the lodges!! The dog hair situation was grim, the rest of the lodge was generally clean although lacking in attention to detail,  eg shelves, skirtings and minor areas not cleaned. The water activities for the kids were good....book in advance! 

Great but dog hair disaster!

We stayed for Christmas in three lodges and had a wonderful time. The kitchens were well equipped and the rooms were warm. The beds and pillows were very comfortable with nice cotton linen. The hot tub was well maintained and checked daily. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We would definitely book again.

An Excellent Family Christmas Break.

Everything we need for a Christmas breakaway. Our 2nd year and it won't be our last. Great lodges, everything we need, clean, comfortable, spacious, full kitchen, multiple bathrooms, stylish decor, great heating, privacy, onsite services (if you want them). Cannot ask for more. Thank you.

Christmas Holiday

Have stayed at this resort 4-5 times usually without any issues however last year we had issues with the hot tub and this year again sadly the same 

The lodge was ok and clean but Cheddar no longer supply spa gowns which were a nice little extra when paying more for a hot tub

We arrived after 5 and were going to use the hot tub around 7 however when we went to check it wasn’t up to temp - around 33/34 c which in late November was too cold to use 

We called maintenance who came to check it and said yes it wasn’t to temp and to leave it for another hour it would be 

By 9pm it was still tok cold to use 

We checked it Saturday morning - still not up to temp so we complained at reception and they said they would someone to check it again

When we returned to the lodge at 4pm finally it was ready to use 
However by Sunday no one had checked the tub and it was again too cold to use so something clearly wrong with them them

The dvd wire was also not working Friday night but that was dealt with as sorted by Saturday 

I wrote a complaint letter on or return as I feel if you are paying extra for a hot tub and that doesn’t work you should be refunded the difference 

The response I got was awful - calling me a liar saying we had used the tub and that was why the temp dropped also that maintenance had checked the tub and it was at 36/37 degrees on the Friday so they were not sure what we were complaining about 
Blatant lies as the maintenance man said on Friday it wasn’t hot enough and to wait a few more hours 

I don’t appreciate being called a liar and I don’t appreciate paying for something that doesn’t work 

Don’t waste your hard earned money staying here there are plenty of other places in the surrounding area

The place has really gone down hill and the customer service or management is shocking 

We won’t be bringing our group here again

What a great little find! We have just come back from a 4 night break at Cheddar Woods Spa and really enjoyed it. All the staff were very friendly and made us feel really welcome. The pool facilities were good, it was never really busy despite being half term. 
The lodge was chose was well equipped, spotlessly clean and had a beautiful view of the valley. 
We normally struggle to find accommodation in the school holidays for a family of 5 that doesn’t cost a fortune but we got a great value deal through Hoseseasons and were really happy with our choice. 
A fantastic spot to base yourself to explore the local area. Be sure to do the Cheddar Gorge walk as it’s beautiful! Would happily recommend to family and friends

Great value stay for a family of 5

We stayed here for a week in February half term, 2 adults, 2 kids and our first holiday with our puppy. 
We stayed in a 2 bed lodge with a hot tub. The lodge was lovely but a little tired. The laminate is peeling off the kitchen and the furniture is just generally very worn. This didn’t worry us since we have the dog etc it meant we didn’t have to worry too much about keeping the dog off the sofa etc. The cleaning standard was also not quite as high as we would usually expect from Darwin Escapes - there are cobwebs hanging from the bedroom ceiling and the grill pan was full of fat which I had to clean before we could use.
Regardless, we had a lovely week! The resort is close to local sights so we spent out mornings outs doing things and then the afternoons back in the hot tub! The kids enjoyed some activities such as creative, dinosaur discovery, rifle shooting, archery and of course the pool which they loved. I enjoyed a massage in the spa which was nice. All the staff were really helpful and friendly. The resort itself is very well kept and has such a calming and relaxing atmosphere. We felt really recharged and rested when we went home.
What we were really pleased about was how dog friendly the whole resort is. On arrival, there was a dog toy for our puppy as a gift. Dogs are welcome in all areas of the resort and the staff made a real fuss of our pup, giving him treats etc. 
All in all a fantastic week and we’ll certainly be back again soon!

Great place to stay for humans and dogs alike! :)

Stayed for the second time in January this year. 
A group of 8 in one of the large lodges with a hot tub, the lodge was spacious and had everything we needed. When we requested some extra glasses and toiletries from reception this was brought to us very quickly.
Such a great place for a relaxing stay and the hot tub is a great touch. 
The pool area is large but the spa area not so, not that this would stop us coming back as we have already booked for next year!

Relaxing

We stayed in lodge with hot tub, it was very spacious for 8 people and 2 dogs, lodge pretty clean and everyone seemed to enjoy the peace and quiet park, 
Was good we could take dogs into bar area
Bowling was abit expensive but was good 
Will hopefully go back again in the future 

Good time away with family 

We stay here around 3-4 tines a year, we last visited in January 2023, great place to stay , staff are great, great for kids , lovely place to relax can’t wait to revisit later this year woukd recommend to all families for a good couple days away x
