We had stayed many times but this was the first time since the new owners had taken over.

The room was fine. However, it was very noisy throughout the night between midnight and 2.00am and then again from 4.00am to 5.00am, not sure who was coming and going from the building.

Lunch was delightful and better than previous occasions. However. Breakfast was a more than a little disappointing, with less choice and much smaller portions.

Food was excellent,We would recommend  the Horse and Groom as a great place to stay it is a small and very friendly clean pub with rooms.Lovely walks around the Horse and Groom and very close to some beautiful coastal towns.

Long weekend going to Goodwood members meet. Room very clean and comfortable, breakfast and evening meals fantastic, all staff very professional, polite and helpful. Thoroughly recommend staying at the horse and groom for a relaxing comfortable break.

Stayed here for the Goodwood members meeting , ideal location. The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast was so good and the restaurant food I couldn’t fault.
Last but not least, the staff, they were so friendly and helpful nothing was too much. All in all a great place to stay.

Tip top

This was a return stay after a break during the Covid-19 epidemic.  Previously, I stayed regularly when visiting my late father who was a resident in Chichester for many years and also a close friend who I now miss when she passed away three years ago.  I was a little disappointed with changes made following renovation to the rooms and also catering staff introducing different menus to the food I always looked forward to in the past.

Welcome return stay to The Horse & Groom.

Great place to stay… lovely room  and fab food

The food was excellent! Roast dinner wonderful and the gravy superb. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming with a mixture of locals and visitors. It was recommended to us and going on this our first visit we will definitely be returning.

Amazing first visit

Cannot fault this place under the management as of 5th August. They departed the next day. Can only hope new incumbents run it as well. 

Great food, great welcome, lovely clean room. Just could not find fault other than an over salted tomato at breakfast!

Top Notch

Stayed here for two nights.  We'd eaten here before a few times in the past, and were really impressed, but we decided to stay this time.  Room was lovely with a very comfy bed, nice shower and lovely view of the garden.  We asked to borrow an iron and ironing board.  They really need to invest in a decent iron.  The one they provided was like they took it from next door's doll's house!  We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was very nice but not quite up to the technical standard it was in our previous visits to the restaurant.  It was still very nice though (see photos).  Breakfast on both mornings was good, although on the first morning, the full English arrived minus the sausage which was forgotten about (arrived soon after when we mentioned it though)!   On the second morning, one of the poached eggs was bordering on raw and the other was not fully cooked either but passable.
There was a particular head waiter who used to work here, called Francis, who was amazing.  I was looking forward to seeing him again but learned he'd left the establishment so I was disappointed.
A good stay and we may come back again.

Good stay - could be better with tweaks

A very idyllic English country hotel in the South Downs. Friendly staff, even lunch and dinner are available at the hotel. Parking lots were available. We had the Singleton room and a comfortable view of the green.
