Lovely Sunday lunch cooked to perfection. Trio of meat was great and plenty of perfectly cooked veg. We did have a starter but won’t next time, only because we were too full. This is worth a visit and worth the money.

Great Sunday Lunch

Would not recommend staying here! The staff were friendly upon arrival but due to a leak we had to walk around the outside of the pub and up back fire exit to get to the room.  The room was spacious and clean with lots of tea and coffee however there was no hot water from the tap in the sink and we could not lock the door at all so just had to leave it unlocked as we headed out. 

The bed was comfortable but the room was cold, without heating on. 

Breakfast was a joke...we'd agreed to have it at 9 o'clock... Still had to walk out the back fire exit steps to the front door which was locked...we knocked on the window... no answer! We went back around the rear where the kitchen was and knocked on the window there... no reply or sign of life...we tried to go through the internal door,  stepping over a large tank of water collected from a leak to the pub... the door was locked! We called the pub... no reply  so we left without the breakfast we'd paid for! 

It's a shame as we were told by locals that the place and food were nice however we'd never stay here again and certainly wouldn't recommend it. 

Bad B&B experience at this run down pub - would not recommend staying here and won't return! 

The rooms were really good and the breakfast was excellent.

We both had an evening meal on arrival and they were great and really good value.    

We were made extremely welcome and would not hesitate in staying at the Anglers again.

I night stay for tow adults in two separate rooms

Visited the anglers arms for Father's Day as I'd heard some really good reviews about the place so thought we'd give it a try

POSITIVES
Very good value for money, 1 course £11.95, 2 courses  £13.95, 3 courses £15.95

The red haired lady on the bar and taking orders is an asset to the place, very friendly, helpful, made you feel welcome and always a smile on her face

Loads for gravy with meal in gravy boat which my dad loves, likes loads of gravy on his dinner

The roast potatoes were the best I've ever had anywhere on a Sunday lunch 

Veg was all cooked perfectly, and served with a huge Yorkshire pudding, which is my fav

NEGATIVES

We both had crispy potato skins for starter. They came piping hot which is a good thing, but they were not crispy at all. Some of the larger ones were undercooked and you could taste raw potato in the middle. Supposed to be crispy bit they were like limp lettuces. When u picked one up on your fork it just flopped over like it had really had enough and just given up the will to live

The young blond girl who was bringing the meals out, came with our main meals when we hadn't even finished our starters. I told her we weren't finished and her reply was just " oh I thought your plates had been cleared" no apology or anything she just plonked our meals on the table , no customer service skills whatsoever

I had the beef, which was ok, I've had worse but I've also had a lot, lot better. The problem was with my dad's lamb. You could have soled the bottom of your boots with it. He was unable to cut through it. He even resorted to asking for a steak knife to try and cut it and still struggled, sawing away at it like it was a tree trunk. I ended up giving him my beef and we brought the lamb home to give to the dog. 

Apart from the lovely girl on the bar (red head) the rest of the staff really needs to go on a customer service course. Older lady with blond hair looked down her nose at everybody and obviously thought she was above everyone else. Only time I saw her being pleasant was when I went to pay the bill. 

All in all, it was ok, not great but the negatives definitely outweighed the negatives and prob wouldn't go back

Some good points some bad

Just had a baby shower here, they’ve got a private room with a separate bar and they couldn’t have been more accommodating with the plans and food orders. Followed by some pints in the sun after with live music, wouldn’t hesitate to book again

3 night stay. Room clean but very basic. No hot water at washbasin. Towels not changed daily and nowhere to hang them. Tiny TV. Staff friendly but dis-organised.  Bed not made up on third day. Wouldn't go back

Grubby

Stayed here for one night, I can’t see what the problem some people seem to have for this hotel. It was clean, spacious and excellent value for money. The staff were spot on, friendly, welcoming, professional and couldnt do enough to ensure a pleasant stay. A huge breakfast, tasty ingredients and bottomless tea or coffee. Seriously underpriced for what you get. Lovely location, would stay here again no problem. I’d recommend staying here to anyone, Thank you.

Little Gem in Choppington

Booked a one night stay via Booking.com, got a phone call in the afternoon to say, they had over booked, or rather Booking.com had over booked and they didn't have any room for me.  Further conversation with Booking.com and a subsequent email should that the hotel had over booked and was trying to get out of it. If you're going to run a hotel at leat learn to manage your bookings. Shocking service,  totally not bothered that they had left me in the lurch!  Avoid!

Don't bother booking you won't get a room.

The Angler's has a good bar and beer garden. Room spacious but drab and underfurnished. Tiny TV without any signal. En-suite had no hot water so I had to boil kettle to shave. Shower constantly lost heat and had to be adjusted. Basic menu which was obviously microwaved (Chips and peas with everything). Breakfast was the worst I have ever had. No beans, hash browns, black pudding as advertised, just dry bacon, overcooked sausages tomatoes and egg. No sauces were provided.  After a second morning of scrambled egg with cold tea prepared by a different member of bar staff we decided to decline our final one and travelled into Morpeth for the real thing. Staff seemed confused and any management needs to take more responsibility. We were constantly kept awake by pounding music every night between 10pm-2am Tuesday to Thursday. The bar closes at 10pm but a set of drums and guitars were constantly blasting on into the night from below. Were they actually aware that they had guests? I was disappointed at the total disregard that we existed. No WiFi. Locals vaping in the bar with foul language on Wednesday night. Whoever is the manager here, I'm sorry but all you have is a local watering hole with music. How you can call this a bed and breakfast is beyond me. 
Definitely will be avoiding and warning everyone to do the same.

Three night break

Room clean and tidy ,staff friendly and polite.but food was poor to say it was marked fresh microwave sounds right straight from freezer.couldn’t sleep much as a water pump was making a noise every 15 mins and would last about 2 mins.location is poor should have done my homework better.won’t return
