On arrival the outside is run down and dirty. Have to ring a mobile number to get in as nobody there. The inside is filthy and smelly. In the bedroom it was awful, bathroom was black with mould. Couldn't stay there left straight away. This cannot be described as a Guest House more a slum

Disgusted

Booked a family room with sea but got a small double overlooking back yard. After speaking to someone who was disrespectful and  rude they admitted it was there fault and would give me a part refund which is only what I was entitled to has I didn't get what I payed for,however its about 9 weeks later and nothing still waiting but the way they spoke to me I didn't expect it.just want people to know this is how they treat guests 😠

Didn't get what was paid for

This experience was one of worst experiences I have encountered. We had a booking through Booking.com for 4 adults in a room in M and J guest house, Cleethorpes. When we arrived, the place looked very very run down and smelt of smoke, however we thought we would try it anyway as we only needed the room to get changed and sleep in and wouldn't be in the room for long. We got to the place, and the door was locked for a start, which is a very good way of greeting your customers, NOT. We then had to call a mobile number to check in, you can't even check in face to face, probably because they have no intentions of letting you in. The rude man on the phone then said we are not being let in as its a family room and not for 4 adults even though that's what we booked and it shows that on our order confirmation. They said they messaged me and they had not, I have all emails and messages, no mention of it, imagine my shock! We then asked if they were going to refund us for the room, and they said no as we booked this room apparently, even though we booked for 4 adults. So we are now taking this up with booking.com and trying to get a refund for this, and reviewing them, but judging by their nasty review replies I am not sure it is worth it! 

The man was so rude, never had customer service like it. We had an event on the sunday which we had to drive back 3 hours to where we live due to no availability anywhere else, and back the next day. Shambolic and as mentioned, I am so unsure how they are still running as a business, this place needs closing down, failing this, a new receptionist!!!

Awful experience, surprised they are allowed to operate as a business. Rather sleep in a car.

Upon arrival to this lovely establishment, we was greeted by a man with 0 manors!!! Didn't ask our names, just threw a key at us. We eventually found our room on the top floor of this scone of a building. We thought we had booked a hotel for the weekend, but when we fought our way past the local tramp, we found a zoo in our room! (we didn't pay for the zoo upgrade!!) We peeled back the crusty bed sheets to find a, what we thought was a zebra, was actually a monster of a rat! We instantly ran out and never went back. Really made our Christmas trip away! Would definitely recommend!!!

2 for the price of 1!!!!!!!!

We booked this hotel through booking.com as it said it was over 8 + and highly recommended. This is certainly not the case. After we had finished work at 6 o’clock went for a couple of pints grab some dinner took it back to the venue we had it in the banqueting hall which was fairly nice. We went to bed nice and comfy no problems. Until I woke all at 2:30 in the morning and thought I had a spider on me so I turn my torch on my phone to have a lock to flick it off to my astonishment that my pillow had 8 to 10 bedbugs crawling around my head I freaked out jumped up and immediately went to the managers room to show her! 
She then said that we must have bought in the bugs from work..... ! 
This isn’t something I take lightly when I book hotels for work purposes I mainly go for higher standard Hotel because you just can’t go wrong but in this instance it was fully booked so we just went for a bog standard hotel on the seafront that cost the same amount as the higher standard one. But this wasn’t the case.
This place needs closing down!!! 
We had to stay on a bench out side.

Avoid like the plague!!!

Like other reviews I have seen on here, we arrived after having our booking confirmed to be told "we are fully booked here, but we have booked you in another BnB down the road that we have. " They are clearly booking through this hotel and then sending people down the road to a BnB that can't get guests in because it is that terrible, (the Priory read their reviews too) 
Our room was so cold we may as well have slept on the street. The windows don't shut, the heater didn't work. 
We were woken at 6am by the sink gurgling and a lingering stench of drains. Our friends had bugs all over their room. 
This BnB needs extreme work doing to it, it is filthy, the beds look like they have been there since the first World War, bedding stained, no curtains and coffee in the pot stuck to the jar its been there that long. You can see every floor panel throughout, the carpet is thread bare.
Guest book at the front door with comments from 2000-2014 clearly a few missing pages in this and very out of date 
Honestly, stay away not worth the money, they should be paying you to stay here.

Very reasonable price for a family room , large double and two large single beds .

I booked this guest house on lastminute.com as it seemed to be the best deal around. The reviews looked OK and it was only for one night. I phoned up in advance to confirm it was OK to arrive around 8pm. The lady said that would be fine.

I hadn't read the reviews on here before booking. I won't make that mistake again!

I was greeted by a lady who claimed to be the cleaner and said that she wasn't expecting me. She treated me like i was inconveniencing her! She had to phone the boss to confirm that i had paid, to confirm that i had booked a room and to confirm that i was entitled to an en-suite as she didn't know about it.

I was shown to my family room (i would NEVER bring my family here!) which had no heating apart from a little stand alone radiator, which was absolutely useless. I went out to get some food in Cleethorpes and didn't feel that my belongings were safe. I didn't feel happy or secure in the room.

The door didn't lock properly, but i wedged the door stop under the door which made me feel a bit safer. Thankfully i slept well, but as soon as i woke up, i got dressed and left.

This will be the last time i stay at any B&B and would rather pay extra for a hotel. This was awful and i feel really sorry for anyone who visited with children.

If i hadn't paid online, i would have walked straight out and stayed somewhere else.

Just want to say how wonderful our stay was here on monday 27th august. For one night everything was good from moment we arrived until we left. room was great for what we needed nice size for 2 of us and the 2 children was nice and clean would stay there again was met by a lovely lady called jean on arrival

M &j guesthouse

Well what can I say this place was shocking.Yes I did get at a last minute deal and it was only for one night thank god. When we arrived greeted by a woman who said who are you cash or card and I informed her we had paid by card( charged £10 extra than quoted). She then said there’s nowhere for your car because you need a permit or you get a ticket you can park your car 2 streets away or in the car park at the bottom of the street which was deserted it was that bad.She followed that by showing us to our family room which was on the ground floor it was a small room with a double bed with dirty sheets and quilt with yellow stains all over it and a what I can only say was a matress on the floor at the bottom of the double which also had mucky sheets on and the pillows were rock hard. The lady said if we need anything just knock on the door then she passed us the key and disappeared. Our view out of our window was the bins which the smell seeped through our Broken window. My 12 year old son who has asd was literally having a meltdown because of the dirt and cobwebs oh and the slugs on the carpet next to his matress bed which must have got through the window. We went out to enjoy cleethorpes at night and returned at 10.30pm to be walking down the street and see the lady who runs it in front of us going back to the guest house with a definite wobble in her walking. My son and boyfriend sleep in the double bed on top of the sheets luckily I’d taken my sons blankets from home so he felt abit better. The next thing my son screamed out in the middle of the night with a massive black insect on his face. So after that it was no sleep but we were looking forward to breakfast what we thought was in with the price we were so wrong no sign of breakfast or the lady. We were up from early hours but I went out at 8am thinking we would see other guests or smell things cooking nope nothing. So we waited until 9am by this time my son was starting to get uncomfortable because of the cobwebs and dirt so we gathered our things and left never again and not child friendly. The photos you see online or not recent and the rooms look nothing like that I only took a couple because I just wanted to get out.
