This place was an absolute beaut to find last minute! So peaceful and relaxing the sound of nature in the morning, hot tub heated up within less than hour which was still warm the following morning. Doesn’t feel like there is other people there which was perfect. I honestly cannot recommend or boast about this place enough! We are local but didn’t feel like we close to home. 10/10 can’t wait to go back! Out perfect little retreat when we don’t have the kids! The owners are great and do just let you enjoy your time away, the cleanliness was great!

Best night away I have ever had.

We won a weekend break with a breakfast & romance hamper included. Which were Great, the photos of the place looked amazing & we thought as the price we would've  paid to stay here was so high it would be good quality accommodation, but sadly that was not the case. The drive in was met with abit of a mess, old washing machines, old porta loos & bins over flowing, which was not very welcoming. The sheep were very friendly though....Unfortunately the front door was hard to open & the only way we could shut it was to lock it, the door to the bathroom would not lock or stay closed, so we had to put a weight behind it to keep it shut. Others have commented on both these problems, but nothing has been done about it. There was no champagne glasses (only 1 plastic one) or tumbler glasses for squash, water or vodka.. There was plenty of dish cloths & washing up liquid but no teatowels to dry up with so we had to buy some to use as hand towels as well as there was no hand towels in the bathroom, no floor mat in the bathroom, so we had to use the bed spread on the floor to save us from slipping on the wet floor when we got out the shower. The robes were definitely not 1 size fits all. The hot tub was OK & was all set up for us ready to light, but not very private, when we were sat in there the neighbours in the huts next door & opposite could see us from their  windows. Ideally as its advertised as a romantic retreat some form of fencing would be better as the hut was very exposed to all the other accommodations. We left feeling abit deflated. 

Not as expected

WE FIRST CAME HERE 2 YEARS AGO AND LOVED IT! BUT THIS TIME WAS DIFFRANT IT LOOKED WORN OUT AND TIRED,ANTS ALL OVER KITCHEN AREA BROKEN BED,THE FRONT DOOR AND BATHROOM DOOR DIDNT CLOSE AND THE HOT TUB TOOK HOURS TO WARM UP.ALSO PAID FOR WASNT WTH THE MONEY ALSO THERE WAS NO WIFI IN ROOM AS WAS BFORE I WAS TOLD TO CONNECT TO THE OTHER LODGE BUT DISTANCE WAS TO FAR TO CONNECT 

DISSAPOINTED

We stayed in Kingfisher Lodge for a couple of days and found the accommodation comfortable, clean and quiet. The surroundings are beautiful - fishing lakes, stunning countryside views and a scattering of animals including horses, sheep, and goats. The  staff were unobtrusive but helpful when needed. The location is convenient for countryside and coast. An excellent place for a refreshing and relaxing break.

Peaceful and quiet 

Wanted a special treat for my partner. Found Watermeadows romantic lodges.
Looking at reviews, I decided to book a two night stay.
On arrival, we opened the door to the Foxglove Lodge.
Wow!
Wonderfully presented. Spacious with the basics for a short stay. Cups, plates, cutlery etc. with a small kitchen area. No Tv or cooker, but a microwave, kettle and fridge provided, and nice not to have the TV anyway. Pubs and restaurants nearby so you will not be short for choice.
Highlight for us was the log burner jacuzzi. Quiet and private. The proprietor Gary, was very helpful on getting the burner started for us, and my partner and I, were soon enjoying star gazing in the tub!
A most memorable experience. 
To say I was fully chilled and relaxed is an understatement.
I will be definitely going back.


Romantic retreat

Me and my wife have just returned from a lovely 2 night break at this amazing place and we couldn’t recommend it enough . We stayed in one of the small romantic lodges (foxglove) Excellent lodge excellent shower very comfortable bed all set on beautiful grounds we honestly couldn’t of asked for anything else , we will definitely be returning .

Fabulous romantic break

Lodge was lovely and cosy. The fire for the hot tub was laid ready to be lit. Took a little while to get up to temperature but that was expected. 
The owners were away and I needed to text Gary to ask a question. He answered straight away and also checked up on us a couple of times during the weekend which was a nice touch. 
It is rural, you do have to drive to things but there are lots of nice places to eat in the near vicinity and Crewkerne is close. 
A couple of really minor niggles. We didn’t have a mat for the shower which apparently should have been there. The wifi was a bit patchy and the dressing gown was a bit small. I’m a 34” waist and barely went round me! 
On the whole though, lovely stay, far more novel than a lot of self catering places and very peaceful.

A nice few days

We were really looking forward to our night away in one of the luxury romantic lodges, but unfortuantely it just didn't live up to expectation. 

When we arrived there was not prosecco and chocolates as paid for. The lodge was lovely inside, really spacious. Equipped with a kettle, toaster and microwave. There was also a small bbq outside each lodge as well. 

The hot tub is wood fired, which I think is a lovely idea. However, it wasn't lit upon arrival and was cold. I had to spend the first hour solidly tending to the fire to keep it going, and then had to constantly keep an eye over it to keep it burning to keep the hot tub warming up. I lit the fire at 15:30hrs and it wasn't hot enough until 21:00hrs -  the fire was lit constantly in this time but clearly not hot enough to warm the hot tub. If we'd have arrived and it was already hot and just needed maintaining this would have been much better. 

When we were in the hot tub we had a clear sky above us and it was truly lovely and relaxing. I just wish we could have enjoyed it for longer. 

There was no breakfast the following day as paid for.

Lovely lodges, idillic location but let down by the finer details.

Was taken here by my boyfriend for a two night break for my birthday, was so lovely and couldn’t of been any better! 
Opened the door to bluebell lodge and straight away it was immaculate, really cosy and a lovely bottle of Prosecco and chocolates on the table! 
Genuinely felt like the owners cared to make it special and it really set the tone for the rest of our stay. 
Ample amount of logs for the hot tub and once we had it up to temperature it was amazing! 
Lovely and quiet for our whole stay and the owners couldn’t of been more helpful. 
We will be back!

Lovely two night stay

A Twixmas break in Heron Lodge, a relaxing chill out after a “different” Christmas. What’s not to like about a cosy log lodge, a hot tub, a fishing lake and great owners who are there if you need them but not if you don’t.. 
yes the lodge might need a bit of tlc, touching up, but it was nicely equipped, comfortable beds, got WiFi, cosy, a nice balcony with lovely views and wildlife all around. Peace and Tranquillity abound. My only negative would be that I probably can’t book the lodge in the summer cos they are all booked already.. understandably. We will be back when we can get booked in. We would recommend without hesitation. Gary and Shona are hard working, likeable owners, and have a diamond here in Somerset.
