Beautifully clean and close to station and all amenities in the town,  perfect place to stay. Friendly hotel and staff very easy to get in and out very secure. Well worth the money will definitely stay again and recommend to anyone.

Beautiful and clean 

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in room 17, up stairs, this was planned for Friday and Saturday night. We travelled by train and this property was conveniently located between the station and town centre. I received a call just as we were leaving home on the Friday to ask  our estimated arrival time , we arrived about 16.30 and was met by 2 at reception , checked in easily but do require photo id , I had passport pictures on my phone which was adequate. We were lead up stairs and shown room 17 , which was clean and pleasantly decorated. The bathroom was next door and there is a communal kitchen available on the next floor. The bathroom and shower was clean and tidy and I would have no problem staying here again.

Great hotel, clean, quiet, I arrived very late due to work, staff member was lovely, took the time to show me where everything was, even though it was gone 1am. Great kitchen area for hot drinks, toast and cereal, coffee was much appreciated. I read a review that compares it to a hostel!! The reviewer has clearly never set foot in a hostel.
It’s in a great location, lots to do nearby and right near the train station. Would I stay again? 💯 if work brings me this way. Felt like a home from home.

The staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough to help.
Our room was immaculate and lovely and warm.
Ideal location if you’re going to the Palladium.

Ideal location, friendly staff and very clean

Stayed here last night due to me having to catch a train the next day from Darlington. We thought we would have a cheeky night out in Darlington. Was wonderful so so clean and the host was so accommodating even gave us a later check out. Right in the centre of Darlington and really nice cosy little rooms had a kitchen facility too to cook if you wanted too. Hope to be back again soon.

We arrived at the Hotel, after the designated check in time, the door was locked, however the lady that came to answer it, informed us that we should have rung the bell..... fairly obvious probably, but a sign saying so would have been useful! We were taken up to the first floor, where the office/reception area was, we were checked in ok, but realised that our room didn't have an en suite, we paid extra for a room that did as don't fancy the idea of having to share. Our room was ok, clean, basic decor,but again fresh, older dark wood furniture, but again quite adequate, the worst thing in the room was the metal bed, you couldn't sit on it or move at all without it making a loud noise!! I had to mention it when we left. The rooms don't have drinks facilities, but a shared kitchen was close by where tea, coffee, milk and kettle, toaster and microwave could be used.
We had the window open in the room, as it was quite warm, but the traffic noise was quite loud, even though we were at the rear of the building, so had to pull it closed later at night. As I said, the hotel is close to the railway station, and a short walk to the main shops and other amenities including many pubs and restaurants and a Vue cinema. We used a buy a gift voucher when we booked, to be fair this hotel was ok for us for a couple of nights, also it's good to see that older buildings are being refurbished with ongoing work and improvements to be made in the future.

My first time in Darlington and this family hotel owned by Pauline and Gary was an excellent choice to stay. Spotlessly clean rooms  and a nice brew/breakfast area where you can help yourself 24 hrs a day made it fit for my purpose.  The adjacent car park outside was CCTV operated and only cost £4 for 24 hrs. 
I would recommend this place for international visitors who want an authentic feel to the North East of England. The owning family are extremely knowledgeable about the area and on hand to provide some top tips for sight seeing.    On the main street leading up to the train station you get a good overview of multi cultural Britain, with several food shops ranging from Traditional Sandwich shops, Pizza ,Kebab and Chinese take away.    I would definitely stay here again and look forward to visiting when the Bistro opens

A friendly welcoming Quirky Hotel close to the train station

I stayed here one night en route from Durham to London.  I will try to start off being kind here. The 'hotel' was clean - I will give them that.  

First impressions, however, are not great as you are directed off the main street to the back of the building next to the car park and bins. Check in is only from 2-7pm, which actually is really problematic if you have a long commute or cannot otherwise arrive by 7pm.  Seemingly no reception cover after that.

Most rooms, including mine were not en suite. This meant wandering around the building in your night time / morning look searching for bathrooms  - which were not that plentiful. 

I stopped packing a hairdryer and shampoo a while ago when staying at hotels as they are (usually) provided.  Except not here. As well as no reception staff after 7pm, no breakfast either   there was a communal kitchen with fridges, microwaves etc which looked promising. Tea / coffee and milk supplied but no breakfast.

And my room? Up in the loft space overlooking the main high street. Quandary whether to shut the window to cut out some street noise but then try to sleep in a stuffy,  hot but quieter room (which I couldn't) or leave it open but risk night time intruders and the street noise of gangs of (no doubt) high spirited male youths pacing outside the High Street with sorry looking take aways plus a betting shop.

More irritants: next door neighbours (and my) door squeaking on use, waking me up - just needs some WD40.  Bedside lamp not working.  Fitted sheet too small for the bed.

Best I can say is stop thinking of this as a hotel - you will be disappointed.  Think of it as a shared house, full of rambling warren-like rooms more akin to a hostel  - and you might feel OK.

Hotel 119 - not a hotel, more a hostel 

Stayed here for one night in a twin room with an ensuite. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the room, whilst basic was clean and comfortable. There was a communal kitchen opposite the room which was also clean. The only negatives were that it was a south facing room which gets warm with the sun coming in, (no a/c however the staff lent us a fan) and the shower doors didn’t quite shut together resulting in the floor getting a bit wet. Overall though if I was in the area again I would use this hotel
