Very good situation right opposite the pier- and we had a lovely front first floor room, great views. Room v comfortable, nice touches such as fridge, air con/ heating , coffee machine and good bathroom.Loads of towels! I think as a result of a bit of a joke I made ( it rained a lot whilst we were there) in response to helpful enquiry as to anything  else we needed for the room …… I see the comments about reception being closed in the evening  but all the staff we did meet were very helpful and friendly, as they were when I rang before we got there to enquire about our dog. Also the point about the winding stairs also true, but we were asked if we needed help with bags. It’s  a hotel extending over a couple of old buildings.Parking easy at the front or rear in public car parks.
We would stay again.

Good couple of days and loads of towels to help stay dry!

Location is 5 star BUT.... There is a steep staircase to rooms, even to Rooms 1,2,3 and no lift. This needs to be made clear at booking for anyone unable to get up stairs and no one to help with bags if needed.  View is also 5 Star, right opposite pier. Room spacious and couple steps up to bathroom. Shower fabulous. It's not 5 star for many reasons but nice touches, like bottles of water in fridge and Nespresso machine for decent coffee. There was no one on reception on arrival late afternoon and it seemed strange to arrive with a code to get in. Receptionist as we left who was friendly and helpful but still think it's better to have someone to greet customers. Who do you call if necessary? No idea. My room had large window floor to ceiling. Could have done with non see through curtain!! All in all location and room very good.

Watch out for the stairs - no lift

Great location, very central, nice bathroom and comfy bed. Lovely to have a fridge in the room and air conditioning/heating to make it comfortable. Despite being on the main road it was very quiet with the double-glazing.

On the downside, the room was very worn in areas, the windows very dirty and in need of a good clean and some damp on the walls by the windows. The TV would not stay on for long as it kept losing signal.

Overall a great and comfortable location for one night in a basic hotel.

We visit Deal regularly and have stayed at different hotels, AirB&B’s etc and recently decided to try the Clarendon Hotel and to our delight we loved it, so much so we’ve booked it again for this month. We’ve now put it top of our list as our favourite for Deal. We contacted reception a couple of time with queries and they couldn’t have been more welcoming, friendly  and professional - a very special mention to Orla who was just fantastic to us. The bedroom and bathroom were lovely and clean and the bed very comfy, it was great to have a fridge stocked with water. Check in and out was very easy and so convenient. Our thanks to all at the Clarendon and we are so looking forward to seeing you again soon. Joan & Nigel 

Top of our list for Deal 

Great location right opposite the pier, plenty of car parks nearby. Very helpful friendly reception staff. Room no15 was excellent, bed superbly comfortable, lots of thoughtful touches in the room including binoculars for distant sea views and welly boots in case of rain...lost of bottled water and milk in the fridge as well. Immaculately clean. I hope to return...  

Great location, fantastic value

The Goodwin suite is spacious and was very clean. Great sea view with with modern shower and separate bath in bedroom. Great value.  Complementary bottled water and milk sachets orovided in fridge. Will be back. 

Great modern large suite for under £100

Great location with easy paid cheap parking. Be aware of self check in so check your emails and messages. A lot of stairs to my room but cannot fault at all, big room with a Sea view in a great little town that’s very clean with plenty of pubs. Highly recommend

We booked B&B but found out at the last minute they don’t do any food. Claimed paid for parking but we were the payers showed picture of bar on website there isn’t one. Jade the receptionist was lovely and very helpful the room was air conditioned and very clean. But everything- furniture, decorations looked very tired hallways and passages showing scuff marks aplenty. A good stay but I’d find it difficult to recommend

My son and his family live in Deal, so we have stayed at this hotel on several occasions in the past without any problems. It is pretty basic, but clean and conveniently located.
However on this occasion, we were not aware that the hotel is now an unmanned hotel ( after 5pm ). We were having a meal in a hotel opposite yours when my partner came into The Clarendon to check in. On arrival there was no-one present ( approx 5.30-6pm ), so we left without being able to check in.
I then checked my emails to see that I had been sent a code to get into the room, which we decided to use as a check in later that evening.
At around 11pm we got a taxi from my sons house to the hotel and used the code to get into the hotel, we got into the hotel ok. However, we could not get into the room and tried several times. We then tried to call the out of hours number, to which it just went onto voicemail, to which we left an urgent message for the hotel to contact us.
We then checked the hotel to see if anyone was around to help, which they wasn’t.
Luckily we were able to get another taxi back to my sons house, but had to spend the night on his floor! We are understandably very upset and angry that we had to do this.
If you are running a mainly unmanned hotel, you NEED to be available by phone in case there is a problem, which you wasn’t. I have had an issue with another, hotel with a code system I couldn’t get into the room with, but they answered the phone 24/7 so got in my room ok.
If you are running an ummanned hotel, you need to be available by phone if there is a problem, which you wasn’t.
I have since contacted you directly plus B.com and no refund still. I will now pursue this through my bank as a chargback services not supplied.
I run my own business, so am fully aware of how a bad review can affect a business. Because of that, I will always deal with unsatisfied customer’s promptly, sadly you thought by ignoring me I would disappear.
This incident totally unacceptable for a hotel to do, we could have been left out on the streets if we hadn’t been able to get a taxi that night back to my sons house to sleep on his floor!
We will definitely never return to this hotel again, as there new set up is a joke with no accountability when a problem.


Avoid, if getting into your hotel room is a priority 

I had three nights here. I had an attic room so lots of very narrow stairs, even a step into the bathroom. The room was big and quiet with a lovely bay seat and fantastic view with air conditioning. I wish the owner/manager would sleep in each room to know what is needed. There were cobwebs in the bedside lights, the bracket that holds the shower hose moves and is too low. There needs to be another higher. And the major issue I had was the dirty marks on the sloped roof above the bed where other guests heads had clearly been. I showed Orla in the office thinking she’d have someone up straight away to clean it but no. I hope it gets done before the next guest.
