You are always apprehensive when you go on holiday to a new place, even more so when you go away for Christmas because you want everything to be perfect and I can honestly say it was.
we stayed for four days over the Christmas period and had a truly great time, we went to the clubhouse on Christmas eve and had a fantastic time, the staff couldn't be nicer and more helpful, we played adventure golf, snooker and took part in the quiz, (which we won so it made it even better), it was an amazing atmosphere.
The lodge was so clean and comfy and we went in the hot tub most days and just relaxed looking out over the pond. The lodge was fully equipped and there was even a welcome pack there on our arrival, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk in the fridge.
I can honestly say this was one of the best Christmases we have had, in fact we loved it so much we booked to go again for next Christmas the day we got home. Thank you Dacre lakeside park.

Amazing Christmas break

Just returned from an amazing 2 night stay in the Shepherds Hut. Everything you could possibly need was provided even down to umbrellas and blankets for sitting outside! Prosecco and milk in the fridge. Partner caught good size carp on the private fishing peg. Very private with fencing and pretty lights for sitting out at night. They have recently replaced the wood fired hot tubs with electric which were perfect. Beautiful views of the lake and surroundings. So peaceful!

Bert’s pizzeria is great for food and drinks and the pizzas are delicious!

Can’t say enough good things about this place it is beautiful we will absolutely be returning!!

Perfect shepherds hut in a beautiful setting 

Absolutely beautiful place, so peaceful and tranquil. Perfect choice for our short and sweet honeymoon. Cosy little hut with everything we needed right inside, Clean and inviting little space, we loved it. Special thanks to Craig the warden. Nice guy who couldn't do enough for us. Kept us well informed of everything and was there when we needed him. Close by for shops for the little things you need, even a chinese and chippy. Loved the hot tub, loved the views, loved the privacy for us. You've nailed it guys. I would definitely recommend and return. Thanks again

Exactly what we needed!! Perfect.

Dacre lakeside Park lodges are amazing . From the very friendly staff in reception to everything you could need for your stay . The grounds are kept immaculately and fab pizza restaurant on site . We highly recommend the place . Lots of little touches like dressing gowns and slippers to shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom . We loved the hot tub which was maintained every day . The furnishings and furniture all lovely and comfortable . The highlight was having ducks visiting on the veranda every morning .

Fantastic experience. 

We stayed in a Bulrush watersedge lodge (number 22). The lodge was absolutely spotless and nice and warm, hot tub was checked daily too. Cannot fault the lodge facilities at all, and it’s a gorgeous quiet location right on the lake. The ducks and swans came to greet us each morning and we found a local shop nearby (walking distance) and bought some peas and corn to feed them. We went out on the lake in a Pedalo which was great fun, and we had an evening meal at the on-site restaurant ‘Bert’s’- booked In advance, food and service was great. 
I also had a massage at the on site beauty parlour and that was fantastic.
All staff we met were very friendly and ready to help whenever needed- particularly the warden. 
Local village is lovely, we went to the Dacre Arms for dinner one night and it was really  nice. Thinking about booking our next visit already, would definitely recommend!

4 night relaxing break

This was our 4th visit, just me and the partner,  unfortunately it's like a favourite Teddy bear ,it's beginning to look tatty, love the location where the lodge is, even though we prefer the ones overlooking the water, our lodge is tired looking,  no complementary coffee or tea as there has been in the past   , the en suite bathroom,  the toilet wasn't as clean as it has been on previous occasions,  long dark hair on the rim , not brilliant,  shouldn't have had to clean it before the toilet was used, we didn't use any of the amenities as our family didn't come this time  .

We have just returned from a lovely relaxing 5 days break with our 2 children and dog. Everything was perfect. The lodge (number 17) was spotless, warm and cosy. The hot tub was lovely and hot and maintained everyday. The staff on reception were helpful and friendly. We also had a meal out at Bert’s one night and it was beautiful. My partner also proposed to me and the staff and cleaners were amazing to help him make this happen and make everything special. We can’t wait to return already. 5 days wasn’t long enough!

Perfect relaxing break

This is our 3rd time staying in one of the Shepherds Huts. As always, beautifully clean and relaxing. Equipped with everything you need for a lovely peaceful stay. Highly recommend this site, staff are lovely and very quick bringing more logs and fire lighters ect. Bert’s is perfect for a nice meal (although it does get busy so booking is a must!) and a nice walk into the village just over the road for pubs, fish and chips ect.

Shepherds Hut

We've visited this place several times before, although this was our first visit for a few years. We had expected the lodges to be a little tired. We were pleasantly surprised that the lodges are still of good quality. They are amongst the best lodges that allow dogs.
The only downside was we reported an issue with the TV at the start of our weeks stay for it not to be resolved. A courtesy call to say they couldn't do anything would have been fine, but nothing. 
This will not put us off returning. 

Great place to relax with the dogs

We arrived on Friday at 4.30 and checked in. I was aware that a deposit of £150 would need to be paid but was told it would not be refunded for 10 working days afterwards! Wasn’t too happy about this as it was not stated on the booking info. The lodge was nice and clean. Yes some areas were a bit dated but overall were fine. We were only given towels for the 2 adults so I had to ring reception and ask for one for my son. I was told that towels were not provided to children?! This again was not stated beforehand only that towels were provided so assumed that we would be given 3 towels as there were 3 of us staying there. A towel was brought down to us within 10 minutes though. Overall it was a lovely stay but not great that deposits are not refunded for 10 working days!
